[76 doesn't much care about who they are--weapons traffickers all tend to blur together after the first few busts. The most frustrating part is that these kinds of things keep popping up, no matter how many times he heads out to put them down. It's starting to be a waste of his time, when he could be chasing better leads, but he always manages to convince himself that if he's in the area, he might as well.

It's vigilante business as usual, really.

Unfortunately, this is the sort of boring part before he makes a move, the part where he has to find somewhere sort of innocuous and stake out and watch the general goings-on of the shipments that get delivered to the warehouse. He moves every so often--different vantage point, less chance of being discovered if he doesn't stay in the same place.

Of course, it comes with short periods of having to navigate back alleys and quiet (but lit) streets. If he's going to get caught, this is the window, so he moves as quickly and quietly as possible, keeping to the shadows. It's not perfect, but it will do.]

[ Henry might be out for similar reasons. He was no musclebound war hero, not a vigilante try to right wrongs...merely trying to get something stolen back. The one thing that could get him home was in the hands of some of the local scum. He didn't want to be stuck here in this place, he wanted to go home.

But, he's faced worse before and also alone so now wasn't any different. Henry would face anything if he needed to accomplish his goal.

While not jumping roof tops, he is maneuvering through back alleys. Peeking out every now and then to see if the coast was clear and to keep an eye on his quarry. When things appeared to be still and quiet, that's when he'd go. Moving from cover to cover as he did.

It's when he reaches the end of the alley onto one of the main streets that he's taken by surprise. He all but steps out right into a larger person a good foot taller than him. Henry stumbles back as he's taken by surprise and all but falls over onto the ground. It's there he looks up into the face of the man, eyes somewhat wide. Oh dear...]

Oh, uh...sorry. I'm just...going for a walk. [ though he tries to play the lie off as nothing he knows it's probably still odd that a fourteen year old is wandering alleys this late at night. ]

[76 is not any stranger to things taking odd turns, and he likes to think he's very good at rolling with punches, simply by necessity. Sometimes the unpredictable happens. Sometimes you're on your way to scope out a weapons trafficking situation and suddenly there's a kid in your way.

He stops short, barely managing to avoid a collision, and it takes him a moment to realize just what (who) he's run into. His expression is mostly inscrutable behind the visor (save the very tops of his eyebrows), but rest assured, he's frowning.]

Shouldn't be out here this time of night.

[Says the guy in the mask with the giant gun.]

[ When they make no motion as Henry sits there, the boy slowly gets to his feet. However, as he stands his eyes catch notice of the gun and his mouth knits into a thin line. The boy gives no indication of what he's thinking or feeling right now but there's an uncertainty stirring inside.

Large man, middle of the night, big gun. These things don't usually add up well. The comment does break that look of uncertainty, giving a raised brow. Whether this man planned to intimidate him or not Henry doesn't show that he is. ]

I think some people would say the same about people with guns.

[ as he makes a pointed gesture at the gun. ]

But, if you were with one of them you'd have shot me by now, wouldn't you?

[ He's taking a leap of faith here. He knows how cruel these people could be and he definitely suspects they wouldn't hesitate to shoot a teenager.]

[The gun is practically impossible to ignore--it's a big, two-handed rifle, and he hefts it every so often as he adjusts the weight of it in his hands. Still, he makes no actual moves to be aggressive with it, even if he seems more than content to just stand there while Henry picks himself up. What a jerk!

It's impossible to tell, but behind the visor, he's most definitely giving Henry the once-over. 76 finds it hard to believe that a kid is out wandering this very specific location without some kind of purpose. It doesn't sit well with him.]

Most likely.

[Though he doesn't otherwise confirm who he's with or why he's here. Either way, he's not in the business of shooting kids.]

What's your business here?

[Mostly he just wants to make sure it doesn't interfere with his business.]

[ He'll be keeping the jerk comment to himself for the time being, at least until 76 actually starts being one. There's just silence between them, Henry unaware of the expression of the man behind that mask. Were they planning something? Were they angry? He's not sure. Henry's only sure that this man is just fairly intimidating.

The question however makes him visibly frown. That is definitely not something he wanted to be asked.

It's true that this guy might not be with them having not been shot yet, but perhaps that's because they were waiting for an excuse? He'll have to bullshit for a little. A small thought in the back of his mind tells him that's probably not going to work with this guy. ]

Oh, you know, just going for a midnight stroll. No big deal.

What's yours? [ because, late night, guy with gun.

Probably nothing that leads to non violence. ]

[He makes a sound that might be a laugh, but it's not a very nice noise.]

You really want to ask me that question?

[It's not a threat--not exactly, but the tone indicates that it might possibly be one, if this kid keeps pressing his luck. 76 doesn't want to hurt him, of course, but he's currently on a mission, and a civilian might end up a liability.]

This isn't a place where people take midnight strolls.

[He's onto you, Henry.]

Maybe. Depends on the answer.

[ If he's sounding defensive he's clearly has every right to be. He's not the one carrying a gun currently. He considers moving a hand to his pocket to grab his cell, but that would probably be a bad idea. He just needed a single moment to do so, when the other wasn't looking.

The statement only earns a dead pan look. ]

Neither is a gun.

[ Same here, 76. ]

So, I guess I have to ask. Are you with those people or are you a cop? [ cop might be a bit generous but better than the former. ]

[76 continues to be mostly unintimidated by the sassy child, but the reality is that he knows he's wasting valuable time.]

Neither.

[Not with them. Not with the cops. That leaves only one option, really. ~~batman.~~ 76 is a little loath to reveal what's really going on here, but he'll try it in a last ditch effort, hoping the kid has some sense of self-preservation.]

They're trafficking weapons. This isn't the place for you.

[ ~~Say hi to Robin, Batman.~~

But self preservation and Henry were strange bedfellows. Charging into danger despite his own safety usually happened quite a bit if he knew he needed something done.

This time the same as any. Being told they were trafficking weapons only steels his resolve. ]

Well, turns out they stole something from me and I need it back. [ Henry folds his arms now, frowning a little. ]

And it's important enough to risk my life on. I need it.

[The plot thickens, he guesses. 76 can't imagine what a gang like this would be taking from a kid (wallet, maybe?), but he tilts his head questioningly.]

What is it?

[The way he says it implies that Henry better give an answer if he wants to tag along.]

Dangerous.

[ One word, that's his answer to the question. ]

If they figure out how to make it work I don't know what would happen.

[It happens to be the magic word. Even knowing nothing about whatever this thing is, he's all about keeping dangerous items out of the hands of people who are smuggling weapons anyway. Given the fact that even encountering a kid out here at night is unlikely, he's also inclined to believe that Henry is telling the truth. If he's not, he supposes he'll figure that out quickly enough.

Still, he's loath to take on a potential liability. 76 seems to consider this for a moment before speaking again.]

Stay close. Do what I tell you. Understood?

[ Henry breathes an internal sigh of relief when it sounds like the other believes him. The ground rules set don't make him hesitate or even question why. They needed at least some amount of trust so starting from there would be good enough basis. ]

Understood.

[ He hefts his bag over his shoulder to secure it more but just before they set off he says one thing: ]

You can call me, Henry.

[He does little more than grunt in response at that, seemingly in acknowledgement. Having made the terms clear, he's all back to business, slinking down to the corner of the building they're currently using for cover and peeking around it, making sure the coast is clear.]

Okay. Henry.

[Sorry, was that an invitation to introduce himself in turn? He's not going to.

When he sees their opening, he'll wave them both on, but they have to be quick about it, moving from the cover of one building to the next.]

[ Well it definitely was an invitation to call him something. But, okay. He'll just go with the number on their back. That'll work for now.

He moves though just as quick as 76 signals. Not failing to fall behind or stopping when told. However, he does point towards a building nearby. It's a fairly worn building, an old warehouse of sorts. ]

If we go through there there's a a few holes we can sneak through that'll bring us on top of them.

[ He'd checked a few times to be sure. He's done his own reconnaissance. ]

[Most of his face might be hidden, but it's easy to see 76 quirk an eyebrow at Henry from under his visor. Okay, so maybe this kid really doesn't have anything better to do than catch up on weapons trafficking operations. Maybe this is exceedingly personal, after all.]

Scoped the place out?

[ All those assumptions would be correct and in return, 76 gets a quirked eyebrow back at the question. ]

Well, duh. They all have guns. Had to find some way in that wasn't the front entrance.

[ With a small waved gesture, Henry would take the lead for only a moment. Just to show 76 where the hole he spoke of was. Hidden right behind a large dumpster and disposed pallets. Big enough for a man even 76's size to squeeze through. ]

[It occurs to him that the kid is leading him now, and once they reach the hole, 76 is quick to retake his position in front. The gap is big enough, but he still has to stoop to fit through it, and it's something of a tight squeeze.

But he's through, and he makes sure that Henry is staying close, pressing flat up against the wall once they're inside and scanning the area to make sure they're alone.]

All clear.

[ Henry presses on through when the all clear is given and this time advocates for 76 to stay in the lead. He'd only offer direction to navigate through the holes in the building by pointing them out. ]

We should be there after the next hole on the second floor. They don't use that for anything.

[Clearly this kid has done his homework. 76 could say a lot about that and how suspicious it is, but he opts to focus on the mission. He's not really in a position to carry on a conversation, especially when he doesn't know if they can afford the luxury of talking.

He moves quickly, quietly, trusting that Henry has enough sense to keep up. They make it through the breaches and soon enough they're looking down onto a warehouse-like space. 76 scans the floor before motioning for Henry to stay close.

Keeping silent, he'll point out the two groups of guards, making sure Henry is watching his finger and can follow it.]

[ On the upper floor, Henry keeps away from the edge just enough so he can peak over but not be seen. He watches 76 point out the guards to him and nods in confirmation. So they had to take these guys out, knock them out somehow (ahaha oh Henry).

His eyes than drift to what's above and he see's a collection of barrels in a net. Putting a hand on 76's shoulder to get his attention, he then points it out. Even if it didn't hit anyone it'd be enough to cause confusion, right? ]

[Even through miming and hand gestures, 76 picks up what Henry is putting down. He nods, pointing to the kid to make it clear that letting that net loose will be his job.

It's a good distraction, and gives Henry something to do that keeps him out of the way while he takes a more hands-on approach. He'll quietly step closer to the ledge, keeping low, before holding up three fingers to indicate that he's going to count down.]
