Drip, drip, drop

the rain meme
Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.
Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.
Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

intensity
1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.
2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.
3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.
4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!
5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!
prompts
1. A DARK, STORMY NIGHT ☂ You know all those stories that start off with a stormy night before something goes wrong: a murder, an attack by ninjas, a crime. It is one of the best known clichés in the world, and you’re stuck in the middle of it.
2. HUMIDITY ☂ It’s that time of the year again when the humidity rises and the rain has two options: make it worse or make it go away. Good luck getting the latter.
3. GRAY RAIN OF DEPRESSION ☂ We all know this one. Stuck in the middle of no where, or right after an argument, or something that leads to angst, the rain decides to express someone’s feelings in a physical form, serious or over the top.
4. QUIET MORNING ☂ Nothing to do, nowhere to be… sometimes the rain is a welcomed addition to a quiet day. Gives you an excuse to stay in, curl up in a warm blanket and a book, maybe a loved one or a cup of hot chocolate. With sprinkles.
5. PUDDLES ☂ After it rains, what is the number one thing you have to do? Go put on some rubber boots and splash around of course!
6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.
7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.
8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?
9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!
10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.
11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!
12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.
13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.
14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.
15. WILD CARD ☂ Was there something I missed? Did you want to roll again or choose your own adventure? Go for it!

Robb Stark | game of thrones/ASOIAF
9 (with a bit of 10)
The Wolf King, the man who had yet to lose a battle. It was a risk, but the Tyrells could take a wilting flower and make it bloom. They knew better than any how to make someone "grow strong." Swelling Robb's forces, they were now to join him in battle, the first against Tywin since the Kingslayer had been captured and Renly had fallen.
Margaery joined her brother on the front, Catelyn Stark acting as her chaperone. She couldn't wed Robb, he had been promised to a Frey, but Loras could wed Sansa. A union could be made between their families. Margaery's future was not yet clear, but once the Lannisters were defeated, her life would be determined. Perhaps another of the Stark brothers would have her. Either way, she wouldn't be the Queen (much to her chagrin.)
The planning had commenced the night before, decisions that she was not a part of. As the sun was starting to rise over the horizon, the forces had gathered, meeting the enemy head on. All of it, she missed due entirely to her sex. A battle was no place for a woman. Instead, she was left to wait alongside Catelyn.
When the rains began, she had been looking over the wounded, visiting the men and trying to keep morale. Without her cloak or shawl, she had no way to protect herself. She ducked into the commander's tent, deciding to wait the downpour there. There had been no sign of Robb yet, but it seemed unlikely he would return quickly. He would want to greet his mother and oversee the prisoners.
She could have a moment of privacy.

Just days before he had received a raven from his mother notifying him of the fate of Renly Baratheon. His blue eyes closed tightly in disappointment, expecting the prospective king to be a needed ally. However, he hadn't expected his mother to convince the Tyrells to join his own forces and to march upon King's Landing once he was ready. Softly, his lips tugged at their respective corners into a pleased smile.
Wasn't it only just days ago he had spoke about winning every battle but losing this war? Perhaps all was not lost.
Beads of rain rolled off his armored shoulders, eventually soaking every bit of him as dark curls clung to his face as he and his men moved to return to camp, soon expecting the arrival of mother and the Tyrell army. Robb had pushed his horse, kicking up mud and leaving a trail in his wake.
Shortly after returning, he had done exactly what Margaery expected, gladly greeting his mother, wrapping her in a hug and placing a kiss to her forehead as she told him all that she knew. Afterwards, inspected the newly acquired prisoners and eventually made his way back to his tent with his squire at his feet ready to remove the armor. He already had one shoulder piece removed upon entering the tent only to pause in his tracks to find none other than Margaery Tyrell standing at his makeshift table of war plans.
His eyes were wide for a moment, only to soften as he offered her a smile and nod of his head. "I wasn't expecting to meet anyone here."

Unsurprisingly, she had lost track of the time, jolting in surprise as she heard the young King's voice. The rose fell from her hand as she hurried to her feet, dropping into a respectful curtsy, her eyes lowered respectfully.
"Forgive me, your grace, I didn't mean to intrude." Margaery told him, raising her gaze to meet his own. His gentle smile enough to coax a level of warmth to her face. "I had meant to wait out the rain, but I didn't account for how long the storm would last."
no subject
"I gather you're Lady Margaery." It was a guess by not only her dress, but the way she carried herself, and that he hadn't seen too many women within the camps beyond the whores. "I've heard what had happened to Renly and I'm sorry for your loss." He didn't know the full details, though Catelyn promised to speak with him more in private later on the matters.
"I hope you won't find this camp too disappointing to your tastes." He spoke, pulling off his gloves and assisting with removing the armored breast plate, taking note the soaked leather underneath. The armor itself weighed him down, but even with it being removed, his clothes were equally heavy.

She had curious to the sort of man he was. They said he was a good warrior, but the praise could simply be a reflection of the council he kept. So long as he had men who knew better, it could mask any defects he had as a fighter.
However, as she watched him, it became increasingly clear that he was far from the untutored boy she had worried he might be. He never paused in speaking to her, barely paying attention to his squire, save for directing movements with a simple turn or lift of his arms. Almost as fluid as a dance.
Margaery smiled, shaking her head. "My tastes shouldn't be a concern. War is not a time for comfort or beauty. So long as I am warm and near my brother, I could not reasonably ask for anything more."
His kindness in regards to Renly was noted, but there was little she felt in her heart, save for disappointment at the loss of her station and Loras' pain. She knew how to appear the grieving widow, but left that tucked away for now. "He was a good man. I only wish that you had the opportunity to meet him."

"This war is unforgiving to all of us." It hadn't been terribly long since Robb had lost his father, a few month's time, but he still thought of him each night wishing to have him as council. He studies the carving closely before placing it on the map with the others. "I'm thankful to have the support of your men and pledged banners."

"Was the battle very fierce today?" She knew so little of what happened on the field, only what Loras told her. Everything else, beyond her time at the encampment, had become a blur to her. She felt lost, as though she were drifting. Everything she wanted had been taken from her and now she was simply waiting for what might come next.
It was agony.

"But I'm proud of what we have accomplished today." They had gained more ground and would be marching further west if the weather was permitting. Robb had already sent out scouts to survey ahead of them.
"Can I offer you anything to eat or drink?" He realizes he didn't remember the last he had eaten.
no subject
"I doubt the Lannisters ever expected you to succeed as you have. I'm sorry to say, you have a talent for war." That was never a desired trait, only one useful when necessity dictated it, as it seemed to be now.
She shook her head, rising to her feet. "I didn't mean to intrude on your privacy. I should leave you to rest."
no subject
"I hope you find yourself welcomed here." Robb commented as she moved past him, taking note that soon she will need furs to keep her warm for the winter coming.
Hours passed and even with a warm fire crackling not far from his bed, Robb woke before the sun had a chance to rise. Unable to find anymore sleep, he rose and got dressed for the day, saving his armor for later.
Quietly he moved to walk the camp, pulling his cloak in tighter from the cold and damp air surrounding him as he made his way to check on some of his men. He wasn't the only one already awake as he found Grey Wind not far from the prisoners skirting the woods. The dire wolf stayed by his side as he walked the perimeter of the camp, nodding towards the men as he passed them. Once rounding a corner, he's surprised to find a very familiar face awake so early as well.
"My lady." He greeted with a soft smile as Grey Wind moved onwards without him, slinking back into the direction of the woods. "I hadn't expected to see you awake so early."
no subject
It was in the early hours of the morning that she pulled herself from bed, wrapping her shawl about her shoulders, wandered about the camp. The the open air tickling the back of her neck, the frantic worries of the night disappeared and the sensible reasons for joining Robb reappeared.
She wasn't Queen, but Robb was at least honorable and good.
It was little surprise to see him suddenly appear, as he had been occupying her thoughts for several hours. It seemed almost natural to see him again. She smiled, offering her hand out to Grey Wind as she glanced up at the King.
"I didn't sleep." She admitted softly.
no subject
"Come, let us go inside. The elements aren't kind this morning." His gaze might have traced her shoulder and down her arms where he could see raised goosebumps along her fair skin. "I shall have something warmer by the morning's end for you." No doubt his mother would take pride in finding something more suitable for the cold.
Robb motions to remove his cloak, "Can I offer you this in the meantime?"
no subject
She admired that simplicity, even if she felt cold during the night.
Margaery blinked in surprise, touched by the offer as well as his concern for her well being. "Thank you, your grace." Getting to her feet, she turned, allowing him to place his cloak on her shoulders. So now he has cloaked me, all we need is a Septon here and we are wed. She smiled, amused by the thought.
Her arm linked with his, following him towards a more comfortable place. "Did you not sleep?"
no subject
"I'm afraid it's a sacrifice I must accept." He walks at a comfortable pace, weaving to and from tents before returning to his, wondering how well she slept, not having to participate in battle. In a way he was jealous, sometimes wishing he could escape from it all.
Moving towards the table and examining the map, "I will march upon the Crag today." He turns and faces her, "in a day's time, we shall be using that as our stronghold."
no subject
She leaned over his shoulder and glanced at the map, looking over the positions of her family's troops as well as the Starks. Her body nearly pressing against his back as she craned to get a better look. "We outnumber the Lannisters." It was a relief to see, but brought little certainty. Small numbers could sometimes overcome larger forces. "Do you intend to take the front lines?"
Never before had she known a King who was willing to risk himself in such a way. She doubt even Renly would place himself at the head of his troops. He never was fond of blood. "Does it frighten you?"
no subject
Turning slightly to see Margaery's face, he studied her for a moment. Every waking moment at war frightened him, but he had learned to hide behind his mask. "No." It was a lie, but he was unsure if she could see through it or not.
"I must do what is expected of me. They need a leader." That much wasn't a lie, at least.

AU where Sansa never left the North - Puddles
With Eddard gone that means that Robb is often stuck tending to meetings and the like, but it's an afternoon before a harvest feast. Not even the Umbers have arrived, yet. Arya has gone missing, and while Jon and Robb would have gone looking for her, with Jon away their mother tasks Sansa instead.
She is sulking the entire time, but it only gets worse as the rolling clouds begin to form. It isn't log until the rains come crashing down on them. The water collects in shallow divots spread throughout the land. And Sansa's day gets worse when she takes a step and her boot sinks into the mud and water. The gasp emitted from her isn't altogether surprising.]
no subject
As they trudged through the woods around the castle looking for Arya, Robb glanced upwards around the same time as Sansa, taking note of the clouds moving in.]
It won't be long before the rain starts.
[And it wasn't more than a quarter's time passing when the skies opened up and poured down upon them. Robb couldn't help to release an irritated sigh while placing a hand upon his sword hilt and trying to keep the belt from sliding down from the water weight.
Too distracted in looking off in one direction, he missed Sansa stopping, boot stuck in ground, before accidentally plowing into her himself.]
no subject
Robb! [Sansa knows he doesn't mean it, but now her dress has mud on hem, and the rain is only coming down harder. This is not how she imagined her afternoon. Why did Mother have her go look for Arya??]
no subject
I'm sorry. You shouldn't have stopped.
[He says this defiantly, but realized that neither of them were in decent moods at this time. Why did Arya have to run off anyhow? Why couldn't she just listen and stay near the castle walls. It wasn't safe, and it never mattered how much Mother lectured her.]
She's probably hiding behind a tree and laughing at us now.
no subject
Let's go back home then. Jon was the only she'd listen to anyway. And with further gone, she's even worse now. If she wants to be Wildling, running about the countryside, let her. For all I care.
no subject
After a moment.]
I think we should look further.
[Things have been bothering him more recently. Townsmen were more unruly with words from farmers about Wildlings coming from the north. What if Arya was attacked by one? There was little Sansa could do, but to give up and go back to Jon would show weakness.
He helps Sansa from the mud.]
Don't concern yourself of the dress; I won't tell any lords that my sister has poor luck of navigating the woods and stepping into mud puddles.
[There's a hint of a smile on his face, despite the lack of tone in his voice.]
no subject
I know how to navigate these woods. It isn't my fault I was collided with.
[Once out of the mud puddle, the redhead scuffs her feet on the nearby rock to try and get the mud off. This is not how she envisioned her day. And the trickling of rain making her hair flat is worsening the entire thing.]
Let's get on then. The quicker we find her, the quicker I can have a bath drawn.
no subject
[Robb speaks her name in a warning tone. She was irritated and being irrational, that much Robb could tell, and part of him wished she'd understand why he was concerned.]
It's not safe for her despite how much she thinks she can be on her own. What if she's in danger?
[He gave her a pointed look. The Starks needed to stay together.]
