the "should never be together" meme.

When two people come together in a relationship, it's a beautiful thing. What can be wrong with love, right? Right? Except when the union is completely and totally wrong, for whatever reason. Then things can get a little messy.

How To Play
1. Comment with your character, listing their name, canon, etc, along with any preferences.
2. Comment around to others, using the RNG to determine the scenario. It doesn't have to be a lovey-dovey relationship, obviously. There can be hate, sorrow, lust, whatever.
3. Thread! Have fun! Do things!

Scenarios
1. Warring Factions: You belong to rival organizations, armies, clubs, etc. Whatever it is, you're not on the same team.

2. Soldiers on the Battlefield: Or maybe you are on the same side, but this is the wrong time and the wrong place. Plus, attachments cause distractions.

3. Bodyguard and the Guarded: Just like the movie with Kevin Costner! One of you has been hired to protect the other for some reason, and feelings are starting to grow. Are you a professional and cut things off, or do you give in?

4. Prince/ss and Knight: Similar to the above, but with a whole 'nother level of wrong...one of you is royal. Courtly love is okay; still, don't forget your place.

5. Enemies: This vendetta is personal, and you totally hate this person! Don't you? Perhaps you're maybe just rivals, or something as serious as superhero and villain.

6. Family: The ultimate taboo. This person is related to you, so there's no way you should indulge this desire, even if it's the most pure love there ever was.

7. Age Difference: The years between you should keep you both at bay, but it's easier said than done.

10. Teacher/Student: Teachers and students have a unique bond, and to corrupt it is a dangerous thing. Will you dare to act on emotions that could put you both in a destructive place?

11. Already Spoken For: One or both of you are already involved with someone else, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Just know that you can't have your cake and eat it, too.

12. Not Compatible: Your personalities or jobs make it so it's hard for you to be together.

13. Not Compatible...in Another Way: You're both different species, which means you're either afraid to take your relationship to a physical level or you can't because of differences in biologies.

14. Not Ready for Love: You took a vow (or celbacy, of chastity, of dedication), you're married to your work, or you just don't want to be involved with anyone. Too bad!

15. Rich and Poor: One of you has the money while the other is from more modest means. Can the 1% and the 99% ever be bedfellows, literally?

16. Hurt Before: Your heart has been broken, and maybe there's been no time to heal. But here you are.

[He couldn't quite believe what Zack had roped him into, this time. Standing well out of sight, Cloud stared down at the neatly wrapped present (probably a shop assistant who did that) in his hands.

'It'll be fine! She'll love you!']

Not the issue here, Zack...

[Casting a glance around the corner, Cloud sighed. He was sure Aerith was nice, but that wasn't the point. Well, all right, it was, because Zack being with someone who wasn't nice to him would be bad. But why couldn't Zack just have told her he'd meet her again after the mission? Instead he'd sent him... With a groan, Cloud left his hiding spot and walked up to the girl clearly waiting.]

Zack got a mission. [Cloud blurted out when he was close enough, offering up the present.] I'm supposed to give you this.

[And it wasn't fair because she did look cute.]

[Aerith hadn't been waiting too long but she couldn't help wondering if perhaps she had come on the wrong day. Maybe she had remembered the date or time wrong. She was moments away from giving up when a sudden stranger came right up to her and practically shoved something into her hands.]

Oh, um!

[Deep green eyes widened in surprise before she gathered herself together. She almost pushed the box right back into his hands and told him to take it back for Zack to deliver himself but it wouldn't be fair on the nice person in front of her.]

Thank you. He shouldn't have made you go out of your way to come meet me. He must be close to you.

He's--- [Blinking, Cloud snapped closed on the thought of 'but closer to you', because that wasn't fair to either Zack or Aerith. Who seemed to be really nice.]

I guess. [He glanced away, and then back to Aerith.] He's a good friend... when he doesn't make me do errands. [Cloud rolled his eyes and swallowed, not saying that the reason he'd agreed was because of the expression on Zack's face and his stupid blue eyes.

On that thought, Cloud thought with a funny little twist in his stomach that Aerith matched Zack very well; she had really pretty eyes too.]

I'm sorry. I told him to just call you and tell you he'd come after the mission, but he was really determined you should get that present today.

[She couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Zack being mean and getting his soldiers to do these kinds of menial errands. He really shouldn't have.]

That was very nice of him. And it was definitely very nice of you to come on his behalf. Next time though, you can tell him that Aerith said to "do it yourself".

[She glances around for a moment. It's not like there is anywhere special that they could really go to in the slums but...]

Since you're here, why don't we go somewhere fun? It must be nice to get out and I could use some company.

[Ducking his head as she laughed, Cloud smiled a little. Luckily Zack wasn't that mean and didn't, usually, use any of the infantry or lower class SOLDIERS that way. Cloud just had the dubious honour of being a good friend.]

I'll do that. But it's fine. It's just... it's a present, so it's kinda... weird I'm giving it to you.

[Really, he was off today, and Zack would've made sad faces at him for spending it training or studying, so it sort of worked out. He was just embarrassed (and a little jealous).]

I--- [Cloud felt his face heat up and suddenly wished he was dressed in his infantry blues instead of in normal clothes - the helmet and the scarf made it easy to hide embarrassing reactions like that.]

... if you want. I don't want to be a bother.

[He was wonderfully cute that she couldn't resist a small amount of laughter and shook her head lightly.]

I wouldn't have asked if it was any bother. There's a little playground nearby that you might find cute.

[She thought about it for a moment and wondered if that was perhaps too childish of a suggestion for somebody who strolled into battle for a living.]

Unless there's somewhere else you think would be more fun...?

No, that sounds fine. [Cloud shook his head quickly, smiling a little despite that he still felt awkward.] I don't really know what's around here to do, anyway.

[He had some vague knowledge of some places close to ShinRa headquarters, but further away and under the Plate he was lost. A playground sounded easy and simple, at least, and they could just walk around it or something...]

Are you gonna wait until Zack comes back to open it?

[Cloud had to admit to being curious as to what Zack had gotten his girlfriend - who wouldn't be, being begged to make sure she got it today, okay!, keeping it with your things for a day and then getting it to its recipient.]
