"Do you ever shut up?"

"No. Do you ever stop being a nuisance?" Look at who his father is. Is it any wonder he's got a sarcastic streak in him that keeps him talking even when it's in his best interests not to?

"No," Han at least tried to be charming... well, he made the effort to try be charming once or twice. What's his excuse? "But at least I know when to shut my mouth," Technically, this is still up for debate but she doesn't need your shit, Kylo. "Do you just enjoy the sound of your own voice or are you truly that irritating?"

His excuse? Hmmm, being an overgrow teenager isn't reason enough? "If you really found me that irritating, you wouldn't keep finding an excuse to talk to me. Either you're a masochist or you're more fond of me then you're letting on." See that smirk, Rey? That is the smirk of a knight who thinks he's on top here.

Well, you got her there. He is an overgrown teenager, she can't deny that but she can deny whatever she might feel towards him. So there. Rey scoffs to prove this point to him and to herself. "You're deluded if you think I make excuses to talk to you," the emphasis on excuses should leave a sting, she hopes. "Or should I say more deluded."

That smirk disappears. Okay, so her words sting a little more than he's willing to let on. "Who do you think you are? Just some scavenger from a backwater planet that got dumped there when her family didn't want her anymore." That's the problem with being able to read minds. Kylo knows just how to hurt people when he's in a fight with them.

It's far too satisfying to watch Kylo's smirk fade, damn near arousing if she's going to be honest but she's not. Instead it's Rey's turn to smirk. She rolls her eyes when he takes a jab at her though, tightening her grip on her staff. It doesn't sting quite as much, Rey might have been abandoned but she wasn't forgotten. She knows that much. "My family had no choice," Rey says easily, squaring her shoulders for her next comment. How quickly he forgets they share that particular trick. "And yours? Was it the incessant talking or brooding that forced their hand?"

"I left my family behind because they were weak fools who were holding me back," he sneers. No, he's never regretted the decision. ~~Not once, no matter what he might think otherwise.~~ The Dark Side was all that he needed. "You're just the same, full of weakness. You'll never reach your full potential as long as you cling to the light."

Rey rolls her eyes. Typical. He sounds like a teenager more than ever, whining about his family as if he'd know what a bad childhood was like. As far as she's concerned, he's spoiled and stupid.

"No," she says simply, her face stony and eyes hard. "It wasn't your family that was weak."

She lets that rest a moment, just beat so he knows what's coming. "It's you. It's always been you, you fell to the dark because of your weak and selfish impulses and it will be your downfall." Rey wants to say more, she wants to plead a case she knows he's not interested in but it's there. On the tip of her tongue.

Well, he is spoiled and he is stupid, so she's not far off the mark there. He was an emotionally-stunted mess and had been ever since Snoke had latched his claws into his young mind. He doesn't pay heed to anything she is saying until she calls him weak. That right there was the chink in his armor. It was what Ben Solo had feared, and deep within himself, Kylo Ren feels the same way. He is afraid, so afraid that in a family full of people that did things straight of legend and who shone as bright as the stars, that he was only mediocre in comparison.

"I am not weak!" He practically screams the words out in a fit of rage.

True. Rey still gives him far too much credit thought. Something about seeing the best in people and believing that the light will always win. She blames Luke, but if she's honest she wants to believe it for Leia's sake. The general deserves better than what she's been dealt and if Rey can try convince her half-witted son to return the light then it's the least she can do.

Kylo wears his weaknesses on the sleeves of his overly dramatic and ridiculous attire. It's almost too easy of a target and if Rey wasn't already annoyed she might have let it slide. Then again, it's only a matter of time until she's annoyed when she's around Kylo. "No, of course your not," she replies mockingly. "That's why you can't have a conversation without screaming or why power and notoriety are more important than family." Rey's voice has gotten harder, her nostrils flaring with her own anger.

It's almost too easy for Kylo to be reeled in hook, line, and sinker by Rey. His emotions are always volatile and he's hardly going to try hiding them. "What do you know about it? You've never had to live in the shadow of greatness and wonder if you can ever match up. You know nothing."

All he wants is to be the best, someone that will be remembered for great deeds. If that means they have to be terrible as well, so be it.

It almost makes Rey feel sorry him, that he'd rather turn his back on his family than face mediocrity. She pulls back, unable to hide the pitying look she gives him.

"You're pathetic," she says, taking a step away. "You'd give up your family-- your home for what?" It's utterly incomprehensible to her that someone would seek loneliness for power and recognition. "To be remembered? To be feared and hated? I don't need to know what that's like to know it's not worth it. Your family loves you, god knows why but they do and you'll never deserve that. Let alone greatness."

"My family is weak. I don't need them around. All they would do is drag me down with them." The worst part is that he actually believes that. He's been so utterly brainwashed that he can't see what he's tossing away with both hands in favor of what he could keep.

"Your family is the strongest family in the galaxy!" she retorts, her anger rising. "It's not them, it's you! You're the dark cloud, the bad apple, the dark stain on the family tree and you're to stupid to realize how good you have it!"

Rey takes a threatening step forward, more out of anger than any intention to start a fight.

"What's with that look?"

Or tone... whatever. Point is, his grandson is dragging him from his rest. Again.

"Is there something better you could be doing?" Sorry, Darth. You have nobody for blame for your grandson turning out like this but yourself.

"Not really. Just chilling, being one with the force... you know, dead people stuff."

Hey, it's not ALL his fault, that Snoke jerk deserves at least some of the blame. That guy is a bad influence.
