Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.

Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.

Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.

2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.

3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.

4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!

5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!

6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.

7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.

8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?

9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!

10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.

11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!

12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.

13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.

14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.

[For many people, a rainy day would mean that any outdoor activities would have to be cancelled, and other plans would have to be made to be done inside to avoid the rain.

But as anyone dating a Kratt knows, sometimes certain outdoor plans are made because of the rain. As it is, a rainy day was a perfect time to observe some of the creatures by the lake, seeing which of the animals seemed to enjoy the rain and which ones sought shelter, and recording the behavior they could see.

They had set up a shelter by the lake before the rain started, so they would have a dry place to work. Which was where Fluttershy was sitting and keeping company with some animals that got caught in the rain.]

[If you had guessed that Chris was out by the lake and not under the shelter, you'd be correct. To be specific he was currently abusing using his shadow powers to be particularly close to a crane hunting in the shallows; the only hint Chris was around was the wisp of shadow that'd come up every now and then from the reeds that didn't get broken up by the rain.

When the crane decided there'd be better hunting elsewhere down the lake the clumps of growth lost their darkness, which reformed under the shelter a few moments later. Chris waved at Fluttershy and company before taking a seat to add his notes to the larger file they were keeping.]

[Fluttershy giggled softly as Chris reappeared. Then she glanced up at the sky.]

I think the rain's starting to pick up...

[He looked out from under the shelter and studied the sky a few moments, before nodding.]

I think so, yeah. Still, we should stay dry enough.

Mm... [She's a bit distracted as she watches the clouds overhead.]

Think we should...start packing it in...?

If it starts looking like it's gonna damage our equipment we should, but otherwise I think we're okay?

[She nods a bit, though the tapping of her pencil on the table is a sign of how nervous she's becoming.]

Mm...O-Okay...

[He glanced at her for a moment, then went back to his notes though keeping an eye on her all the while.]

[Things passed with no incident, at least for a while, as they continued recording their notes, the only sound around them being the rain.

Then a sudden flash of lightning had Fluttershy looking up, her pencil dropping to the table in surprise. She seemed to be waiting, expecting, but even when the thunder rumbled around them she couldn't help wincing, a shiver running through her body.]

[That's what he'd been afraid of. Putting his notes aside he stood up and headed over to her, holding out his hands for her to stand up.]

[After taking a few breaths to calm herself, she looked at him curiously even as she took his hands and rose to her feet.]

[He gently pulled her toward him, putting an arm around her shoulders.]

It's alright. I know it's scary, but I won't let anything happen.

[A bit surprised, she leaned into the embrace with a small smile.]

Mm...I-I know...

[Still, she couldn't help shivering again as more thunder rumbled overhead, burying her face in his shoulder.]

[He transferred his hand to the back of her head, holding her to him.]

[Despite the bit of fear still making her heart pound, she couldn't help but smile as she nestled into him. She did feel a lot better with him.]

[As they stood there, he slowly started swaying back and forth. Then at a thought he stepped back a bit, drawing his hands down to hers.]

Follow my lead, I've got an idea.

[She blinks as she looks up at him, but nods.]

O-Okay...

[beingthecreature]

[He stepped back a bit, then drew her with him with one hand, the other held out to one side in a waltz-like pose. And that's precisely what he started, slowly and humming under his breath.]

[A bit surprised, she couldn't help smiling a bit as she followed his lead, dancing with him as the rain hitting the roof of their shelter pattered out a tempo for their impromptu dance.]

[He continued dancing with her, smoothly sweeping around the shelter, humming along to their own music.]

[She smiled as she continued to move with him, cuddling a little more into him as more thunder rumbled around them.

Their dancing did help a little, though, and she even began to pull them out of the shelter, letting the rain fall over them.]

[At first there was a note of surprise on his face when they moved out into the rain, but then he smiled and kept right along with her, continuing the dance no matter how wet they were getting now.]

[She giggled a little as they continued dancing while they were getting soaked.

As she spun around a bit, she gasped as her foot fell into a small dip, already filling with water. She managed to catch herself and regain her balance, but she frowned as the puddle soaked inside her shoe.]

[He made to catch her when she slipped, looking down and then back at her with a short chuckle.]

Not like you can get much wetter right now.

[She laughed a bit, reaching down to remove her shoes.]

I suppose not...

[Didn't mean she wanted the inside of her shoes to get wet.

Thinking for a moment, she couldn't help kicking a bit in the puddle.]
