THE STORY of US MEME (a crossover pairing encouraged meme)
The Story of Us

a [crossover pairing encouraged] shipping meme

a [crossover pairing encouraged] shipping meme
Crossover pairings are fun. Arguably, they can be one of the best parts of panfandom RP. After all, there's nothing quite like that spark when two characters just "click," especially when it was completely unplanned. AWESOME.
Unfortunately, in a lot of shipping memes here and elsewhere, the environment isn't really conducive to spontaneity. People usually just stick to castmates or close friends, and don't tag out due to lack of knowledge of canons or just plain intimidation. That's not fun for those of us who want to throw caution out the windows and just try crazy things, like throwing a Thor at a Sailor Moon (which, really, isn't that crazy of an idea if you look at the mythos for both series...).
This meme's for you, risk takers, crack shippers, or people who just want something new. All there is to do is fill out a tiny blurb so that people who don't know your canon will have some idea about your character. Then, go. Play. Don't let anything stop you. Don't know where to go with an idea? Wing it! The prompts here are not the super specific variety that most ship memes have, where you almost have to have canon knowledge. Want to reply to a character but have no idea where to begin? Make things up! The more creative, the better.
The Steps
- Make a comment with your character, canon, preferences, etc in the subject. In the body of the comment, fill out this super easy form. Just the basics.
Name: Jane Doe
Canon: The Best Canon Ever
About: Jane is a shy girl with magic powers.
[OPTIONAL]
What kind of character they'd be attracted to: Strong, outgoing types.
- Comment to other characters! Use the RNG, first rolling for category (1-3) and then for prompt.
- This meme was created for crossovers, and that's heavily encouraged, but no one is going to hunt you down if you play with a castmate. Just try to remember the purpose of the meme, okay?
- HAVE FUN
Two Ways to Play
#1 (the buildup)
- Start with the first category, which is how the characters meet. Play that as you see fit. THEN, do a timeskip! If you don't know what that means, it's when you handwave that time has past. Assume the characters have known each other for a while. Move on to a prompt in the next category. Rinse, repeat. You can build a relationship!
#2 (the regular)
- Just play it as usual. Roll for category, then for prompt.
The Categories
1. The beginning
2. The relationship
3. Years later
I. How We Met & the Sparks Flew Instantly (The Beginning)
1. First meeting (no matter how mundane or impossible!)
2. First date
3. Blind date
4. Arranged courtship/marriage
5. Hate at first sight
6. One night stand
II. People Would Say "They're the Lucky Ones" (The Relationship)
1. Confession (TELL ME HOW YOU REALLY FEEL)
2. Taking care of you
3. Meeting the family/showing you home
4. First time
5. FIGHT
6. Marriage proposal
III. One Day We'd Tell the Story of Us (Years Later)
1. Moving in together
2. BABIES or kids
3. Together again after a long seperation
4. Ending the relationship
5. Old (married) couple, aka Still in Love After All these Years
6. At the end of life
Harvey Specter | Suits | OTA
Canon: Suits
About: Harvey is the best legal closer in New York City and works for the firm Pearson-Hardman. He's stubborn, he's smart, he's a bit of a dick when it comes to uh, actually expressing his true emotions but he's been shown to truly care about those around him and will protect his own. He might seem like he'll bite, but he really won't. (Unless you ask him, too. Then he'll be more than happy to oblige.)
1.1
Mr. Specter? I've been referred to you because I'm looking for legal representation. Do you take criminal defense cases?
[Technically he was looking for extremely good legal representation, but Derek's not big on actually... telling people that they might be valuable.]
Re: 1.1
In fact, I do. What do you need my defense for?
[That's all okay because Harvey already knows he's extremely good and if Derek actually said that, he'd just been inflating Harvey's ego a little bit and no one wants that. ... Except Harvey.]
1.1
[Down the line, Derek's voice is tense. This probably isn't the most tempting case that a big name lawyer could be taking on.]
None of which I'm guilty of, for the record.
1.1
The fact that Derek is calling him directly though and the tone of his voice perks Harvey's interest against his better judgment. His voice stays calm and even as he talks.]
I'm sure you aren't or else you wouldn't be calling me, would you? [He wants to believe Derek completely because why seek out someone as good as Harvey if you're guilty of those charges? Harvey (and any good lawyer who wants to keep a good reputation) can tell exactly who truly is guilty and who isn't. He just need to looks at files first.]
1.1
You're right. If I was guilty I wouldn't be calling you.
[He runs his tongue along his teeth, trying to think of how much he can say about this without having to reveal anything potentially dangerous.]
Someone trapped a group of teenagers in their high school in the middle of the night. He killed the janitor, and then tried to do the same to them. They think it was me.
Re: 1.1
And why do you think it was you?
1.1
[You can practically hear him shrugging over the phone, as he lists these assorted half truths.]
It was just easy for them to believe that it was me.
Re: 1.1
[The remark of the dead body makes Harvey sit up a little straighter. This would probably be his toughest case. ... If he accepted.]
And why was there a dead body found on your property, if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to have the whole story here before I make a decision.
no subject
[If he sounded tense before, Derek manages to sound actively annoyed now.]
Because someone apparently thought it would be funny to bury her there.
[There's a short, unhappy pause, before he confesses:]
It was my sister. I was only in town at all because I was looking for her, and she was found dead from an animal attack and buried in the garden of our old house.
no subject
[Harvey might be an asshole
sometimesmost of the time and tends to seperate himself from his emotions when working cases but he lets what Derek just told him sink it and lets it decide for him whether or not to take this case.]I'll help you. I'm... [Usually when he says the words 'I'm sorry for your loss' it's forced and said without much emotion but this time he actually means it.] I'm sorry about your sister.
no subject
[Would you believe, that between his two arrests for murder and attempted murder, and every other ridiculous thing that
season one of teen wolflife could throw at him, No one else has actually said that to him?]Thanks. [Kind of. Not sure what to do with people who he's not got to fight with.] I'm Derek Hale, by the way. Should I-- Uh, what contact information do you need?
no subject
[He probably wouldn't believe it, if Derek told him. He'd also probably think that
the writersthose around Derek were bigger assholes than he was.]Derek. [He repeats the name 'Derek Hale' over again in his mind. Committing it to memory.] Ah, wherever I can reach you. And anyone you think I should talk to to help with your case.
no subject
Sadly, Derek is not familiar with how this meme works.]
I'm being held in Beacon Hills Penitentiary, without bail. Visiting hours are between two and six, but there might be different rules for lawyers [He lists an address and phone number, and hesitates slightly, when Harvey asks if there's anyone else he should talk too.] ...There's probably not anyone else. I don't have an alibi, or any character witnesses.
[Mr. Helpful right here.]
no subject
[Harvey isn't really aware either of how this whole thing works so he's in for a bit of surprise down the road.
He jots down the address and number that Derek gives him and waits for any other names he might give. The look on his face when being told there's no alibi is somewhat amusing. Harvey didn't realize he could lift his eyebrows that high.]
We'll just have to work without them, then. [He keeps his voice calm and confident.]
no subject
[Derek releases a breath that he hadn't realised he was holding. There had been a part of him still kind of waiting for Harvey to tell him that this was way too long a shot for a man with a perfect record to be taking.]
Thank you. Seriously. [His voice is still even though, still too tense to reveal any more of his uncertainty than he already has.] I'll be hearing from you again soon, then?
no subject
also this is making me want to give in and finally actually watch teen wolf][Harvey still doesn't know what made him say yes but, it's too late to turn back now and he's not going to look like a quitter to Derek. He's not going to let him down.] No need to thank me until I get you back out into the free world. Yeah, you will. I'll be stopping by soon. Talking face to face will help a lot.
no subject
And you should totally watch Teen Wolf! It is... as dumb as a brick, but it's fun and the supporting cast is great!]Right. [He swallows slightly, and the sound of it is audible even down the line.] I'll see you soon then.
[There's a fraction of a second of silence, like he's trying to decide whether or not to say something else, then he hangs up.]
no subject
A bunch of my friends have gotten into it recently so I might have to jump on the bandwagon. Also, again, sorry about late replies. I've got bad timing with stuff. I'm going to be leaving for a two week vacation on Saturday but I should be able to hop online at random points during the night when I'm gone. I'm sorry. ;;]
That you will. [Harvey licks his lips before digging his teeth into his bottom lip, inhaling deeply when Derek hangs up and puts the phone back into the holder. His shoulders slump forward a bit and he wonders, just for a brief second, what it is that he's gotten himself into.]
There is no appropriate number for mid-trial werewolf revelations.
Derek's excuse for being at the school in the first place was pretty weak, especially when it emerged that he'd been seen on the premises numerous times over the last few weeks, skulking around, possibly even stalking one or two of the students he was accused of trying to kill.
That particular revelation provoked another problem for them. The two boys who had initially claimed that it was Derek who had attacked them, were clearly struggling on the witness stand. Not quite rescinding their earlier statements, but certainly... muddying the waters, to the point where the prosecution attorney began to make a case for the idea that Derek was threatening them out of confirming their original statements.
What was obvious was that none of the people who could actually know what had happened at the school were actually saying, and it was looking - increasingly - as if these gaps in the defense and unanswered questions from the prosecution, were going to be what decided the case.
Derek's due to meet Harvey again today, to discuss the direction the case is going in, upcoming evidence and testimony... but honestly, right now, Derek is seriously considering the merits of just breaking out and going on the run. It'd be an ugly blow to Harvey's career, and he feels a stab of guilt at considering it, but really, there are bigger things at stake here...]
[ooc: I definitely support jumping on the teen wolf bandwagon! It is a fun one to be on! And seriously, don't worry about the slow tagging! I am totally up for plodding along slowly for as long as you like c:
Hope you have a great holiday!]

He needs to know the complete truth or else this case is going to end up being the thing that fucks up his reputation. Over the progression of the trial, Harvey likes to think that he's earned some form of trust from Derek. He's just hoping that he can use that to worm the truth out of the him.
The exact reason why he took this case is still a mystery to Harvey but he knows that it's too late to back out now. Not that he would. He's grown to like Derek and, besides, he wouldn't want to appear weak by giving up.
Harvey waits at a table in a private waiting room that he's pulled some strings to get for him and Derek to meet in at the penitentiary. He's got his briefcase with him, elbows resting against the edge of the table and a serious expression etched upon his face. He glances at the watch on his wrist and breathes out slowly. Five more minutes.. Five more minutes and then he'll get some real answers.]
[ooc: I think I'm going to jump on it when I get back! :3 And alright, okay, thank you! I just worry sometimes when it comes to slow replies.
Thank you! <3]
