17... huh. Guess I know when this takes place.
Lindsey sported ugly bruises under his jacket, but the only visible hurt as a scratched cheek. It was almost enticing how the dried blood of his scratches was worn as a light patch on his face as he knocked on the vampire's apartment door.
Carrying a briefcase, Lindsey was aware he looked like hell warmed over and frankly, he couldn't find it in his heart to care.

Not a good mix when expecting company, but it was merely bad timing.
Loki wasn't able to bring himself to answer the door. He had little strength left as it was, and it was all he could do to lift his head from the tinted windowsil of his bay window. There was silence, for a long minute, before finally there was the sound of metal sliding across the floor, and the small silver key to his apartment front door eventually slid under that very door to bump into the lawyer's shoes.
no subject
"I'm coming in, sir."
He didn't know what to expect, but a half sprawled vampire by the tinted window wasn't it. Closing and locking the door behind him first, Lindsey slowly approached his client. He stopped two steps away, still a respectable distance but close enough to indicate he held a friendly relationship.
"Are you alright, Mister Loki?"
no subject
"Good evening to you as well, mister McDonald," he eventually answered, his voice quiet and almost with a hint of a slur, as if he was a normal human drained after a few glasses of fine wine. But his posture was rude, slumped against the window in such a way, so Loki forced himself to sit up, his head lolling to the side.
"I've merely had a troublesome day. And I expect it to only get worse."
no subject
Yet, at further inspection he started to wonder differently. Loki didn't simply look bothered, he looked physically ill. In fact, he had seen that look several times before on another vampire, a beautiful one, one that used to live in his home until last night.
He took a deep breath to steady himself.
It took a second longer to make himself care about his client. "If you will but wait a moment, I will order a meal for you."
no subject
For now, he could only sigh, and try to turn his head enough to glance out the window. Another beautiful night, but one he was unable to enjoy, having to remain cooped up inside. What a shame.
"I can do nothing else but wait," he responded with a droll, brow arching just slightly. "Though I hope you are not thinking pizza delivery."
So, does the vampire want to bite his lawyer?
Putting up a hand, he walked off several steps in order to put an order for a meal to be delivered to their current location. He returned five minutes later, phone placed away and looking blandly at his client.
"It will take a few hours for them to find a suitable person unless you don't mind bottled blood. If you don't, that will take half an hour." Lindsey's voice, sounding somewhat dead as well, suggested he didn't care which one Loki chose.
nom nom nom
Annoyance and irritation filled his tone, the weaker his body became. It was even beginning to be a struggle just to keep his eyes open, and his head felt heavy, pillowed against his arms as it was. He knew he certainly wouldn't make it the few hours it would take for a fresh victim, but Loki was even doubting the shorter delivery of plastic-tasting bottles. Half an hour ... and at the rate his vision was blurring?
"There is nothing faster?" Loki asked, with growing weariness, his voice drawling out as if he'd been awake for days.
Does he need to be invited to dinner?
Noticing the state his client was in, Lindsey took another step forward, within reaching distance now, and he just... stared down at him. Of course Lindsey knew the fastest way to help him, but even with Darla, he never offered his neck to her.
Which might be why she was gone now, or why she was toying with him to begin with, or why he couldn't even find it in himself to care about anything anymore. He felt dead.
He took one last step forward so he stood right next to Loki. With a fatalistic attitude and unable to make himself care, he shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, take a bite."
who needs invites, it's a buffet
Drained as he was, the last few words from the lawyer did not escape him. He could not lift his head, but he managed to turn slightly, his half opened eyes gazing up at the other in confusion.
"... you offer yourself freely?"
Then he better grab some before it's all gone
He pulled off his tie and tilted his head, surprised that the feeling of doing so didn't do anything to him. His heart rate didn't even increase at the thought of baring himself to a starving vampire. He just couldn't find the fear in himself.
"I can't find faster service than this. So take it or leave it."
nummy nums
"... you will have to come closer," he replied quietly, making a weak gesture with his hand. Sprawled out atop the cushioned bench as he was, standing would've taken more effort than he could conjure up. "I'm afraid I cannot reach from down here."
no subject
Yet it all boiled down to that Lindsey couldn't make himself care. He had blood, Loki was hungry, it was a simple equation.
"Do I need to put myself between your fangs as well?" Yet despite the words, Lindsey leaned down, neck still bared, and braced himself against the window sill. "Is this close enough?"
no subject
"... no," he whispered, before he suddenly surged up, grasping the lawyer by his tie and forcing him down against the window seat. The last of his strength was used just to grab him and hold him there, but the promise of blood had him willing to spend what he had.
"Now you are," he whispered, his eyes glowing a brilliant gold. He bared his fangs, a very inhuman noise escaping his parted lips not unlike a growl. There was barely a moment's hesitation, before he leaned in and sank his sharp fangs into the other man's neck.
no subject
Perhaps his blood may be the slowest flow Loki would ever experience, for there was no torrent of fear, no rapid pounding heart, to rush it along its path. It just flowed, like a steady running stream, that went from the heart to the body. Now, into Loki's mouth as well.
Yet as Loki began to suck, Lindsey started feeling another sensation. It wasn't pleasure exactly, but it was as if the blood that got drawn against its flow were caressing the insides of his veins. It was strange, different. Lindsey groaned and sagged against the window.
Idly, he wondered if he was going to die today. Like once before, he found he didn't mind either, yet unlike last time, it was simply because he couldn't care.

Loki bit down harder, renewed energy fueling his desperation and hunger. The more he drank, the less control he had over himself, and the less likely he would be able to stop himself before his generous food source ran dry.
The next sound that left him was definitely a growl, and his eyes glowed as red as the blood he so hungrily drank from the lawyer's throat. It was only when the quieter conscious part of his mind reminded him that this was his lawyer that he finally pulled away, though not without a loud inhuman howl as he sat back.

The pain returned when Loki's bite went deeper, and without conscious thought Lindsey whimpered. It was his body, recognizing the danger, sped up his beating heart to make up for the lack of blood.
Sometime after he felt the strange sucking stop and he moaned again, but this time from desolation and loss. He felt cold, blissfully numb, temporarily blanketed from the world around him, and recognized that by stopping, all the world would return again. Slumped against the glass, Lindsey closed his eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
no subject
He smiled, and even found himself laughing, if a bit breathless. He moved his leg to give a light kick to the other man in the shin. Just a test, to see if he'd gone too far.
"You are no fun at all, my good man," Loki said softly, with a chuckle. "No struggle, no resistance, nothing. I nearly had to fetch a straw."
no subject
Loss of blood, a disconnected corner of his mind supplied, surprising him by even still running.
He tried to sit up, but the world tilted teeter totter like on an unbalanced seesaw and he sagged quickly back against the glass, groaning again. "Is that your way of saying thanks?" He tried to fix the vampire a look, but he didn't feel particularly challenging or glaring, so he simply stared. "I see you're well."
no subject
"In a way, yes," Loki answered, bringing his hand up to wipe the last few traces of blood from his chin, then proceeding to lick it clean. "I am forever grateful for your generosity, my friend. I fear I would have disappeared into dust if not for your kind offer."
no subject
It has been five minutes and he remained where he was, just sprawled out against the window on his back rather than his front like Loki before. He also made no attempts to get up, recognizing they would be futile efforts at best.
Instead, he just looked up with bleary uncaring eyes while his lips smiled. "I'm going to have to stay here for a while. Hope you don't mind having a house guests."
no subject
It was understandable, any man would need a rest after that much blood loss. The lawyer was very likely just shy of requiring a transfusion, but Loki was satisfied that as long as he was talking, he was not too far gone. His body should be able to reproduce what had been lost all on it's own. Though, perhaps, he should at least be grateful for such a gift.
Recovered now, Loki stood from the window seat and left, only to return a minute later with a large, dark blue blanket. The material was thick, and soft, and he draped it over the slumping lawyer.
"Make yourself comfortable," he added softly, brushing a few stray bangs out of the other man's eyes.
no subject
So was the hand reaching out to brush the hair out of his eyes, which had the lawyer blink like a lost owl up at his host.
"Water?" he finally recovered enough wits to ask before the other man went away... to do whatever vampires did that likely required them to need his services to begin with. Except this one already cut right through the roundabout method and just took what he needed from him. He suppose it cut down the work he needed to do.
Work, oh yeah, he came to work. His next blink was slower, drowsier. Maybe when he woke up.
no subject
"I suppose it is only fair to offer a drink in return," Loki muttered as he stood back up, and turned towards his kitchen. He returned shortly, bringing a cool glass of water with him and having a seat beside the weary lawyer.
"Though I feel you are incapable of not spilling it, are you?" he added, as be lifted the glass to the other's lips.
no subject
Loki's words were proven to be true and Lindsey didn't bother affirming them as he simply drank slowly but steadily. He finished about half the glass in one go before he signaled for the vampire to stop by weakling reaching for his wrist.
"Thanks... I'll drink the rest later," he murmured, already sinking back down now that he no longer had to stay upright to drink. "I'm tired now," he murmured, eyes already drooping again and looking as if he was struggling to keep them awake for as long as Loki was still here. "I need to rest."
