It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?
i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun!
o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario. |

Unfortunately, the Resistance had also sent their own people on a similar mission. Open hostilities would have spelled the end for either side's hopes of getting the planet Nark to join them, so both sides were existing in an uneasy truce for the time being. Kylo found himself getting more and more restless as the days went on. One night, he couldn't sleep no matter how he tossed and turned on the unfamiliar bed. He'd eventually given up and gone outside to stare up at the planet's four moons. The amount of light produced by them blocked out most of the starlight, which only added to his irritability. Kylo liked being able to see the familiar stars of the galaxy.
Still down on a boulder a short distance away from the domed buildings where both groups were being housed, he gazed up at the night sky. Closing his eyes, he began to meditate, stretching his mind outwards until he could touch all minds around him. Most were quiet and deeply asleep. He felt the raging storm inside of him calm down just a little bit. This was what being a Force-user was all about: being one with the universe.]

The surprise came in the presence of the First Order. More specifically, the choice of presence. Poe had maintained a cool professionalism but he was less than enthused. Of all the people to play nice with. The days went by without conflict. The tension was there, ever present. Poe did his best to adapt to it.
Adapting meant avoiding. He did a good job of it. Or he had been, until now. He hadn't tried to sleep yet, opting, instead, to get a feeling for the area. Imagine the pilot's surprise when he saw a dark figure lurking in the light of the moons. He could turn around and leave - the best option, actually. Poe didn't need any other choices. Turning to go, his boot crunched on some fallen foliage.]

When he heard the sound of a foot coming down sharply on the old leaves, his head snapped around with startling ferocity, his glare clear even through the helmet's black slit. Of course it was the pilot. Kylo had seen him over the course of the past few days and had been radiating displeasure at the sight of his former captive strutting around free and with the Resistance once more. Now here he was, being an intrusive nuisance on the quiet of the night.]
Poe Dameron. [He acknowledged the man with a surliness even the vocoder couldn't disguise.] What are you doing still awake?

Poe turned, to face his former captor face on. He didn't have enough trust with Kylo Ren to keep his back partially to him, even if they were currently under a shaky agreement. His eyebrows went up.]
There some sort of rule about not being asleep I don't know about? Does that thing ever come off?
no subject
Everyone else is. [Almost every mind he sense is fast asleep as any normal person would be expected to be at three in the morning. His next reply sounds almost amused.] I don't sleep in it.

[But bad guys lurking in the night are a cause for suspicion. Poe does snort, though, because that sounded almost like a joke. Who'd have thought. Maybe the distance from the First Order is doing Kylo some weird sort of good.]
If you'll excuse me, I'll let you get back to - Whatever was happening here.

[That almost sounded like a joke in itself with how volatile the knight's moods could become, though Kylo was being perfectly serious. It was one of the few vestiges left from his time training as a Jedi. He had a whole chamber for it in his quarters on the Finalizer. His mind had always been a restless, fractured place. Everything in the galaxy was just so noisy. It did him good to clear his mind from time to time.]
A touch of which would do you some good.

[Because this wasn't strange at all. Standing here, at an obscene hour, in the light of four moons, having what is probably considered a real conversation with Kylo Ren. Poe was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Unless the whole meditating thing actually made the knight more bearable.
That'd be some meditation.]

[Kylo lifts a hand. Using the Force, he pulls Poe unwillingly forward on his toes until he's close enough for Kylo to reach out and touch him. There's no real motivation for the knight to do it other than he wants to unnerve the other man.]

When he could move, he smoothed out his jacket - a new one, darker, a little roughed up but obviously still being broken in. Sometimes the stiffness still in the fabric made it squeak.]
Nothing like a morning talk in the moonlight.
[If they waited, they could probably catch one of the sunrises. How stupidly romantic.]
no subject
He moves over on the boulder so that Poe can take a seat if he wants to.]
Are you afraid to be out here with me?
no subject
Nah. I'm sure that disappoints you.
no subject
It's something different.
no subject
What is? A good different?
no subject
Just different.
[Truth be told, he's quite forgotten how to interact with people who don't fear him. There's a certain lack of a buzzing sensation that accompanies what he can sense from Poe's mind.]
no subject
[Poe just nods. Makes sense. He guesses. He leans back on his hands, looking up at the moons. Just hanging out with Kylo Ren on some rocks.]
As long as it's not bad.
no subject
When it comes to you, I expect...
[Kylo shrugs once again, unable to think of a good word. Poe represents everything that he despises about the Resistance. The man himself is like an irritant that keeps rubbing Kylo the wrong way.]
no subject
You shouldn't expect anything about me. Not at this point.
no subject
[That smirk earns Poe a light shove with the Force, no harder than he would have by reaching out and pushing him with his hand.]
no subject
Apparently meditation works wonders.]
Good.
