THE DATE MEME

Locations

1. Restaurant. What better way to spend some romantic time than over food? Maybe you're at the fancy restaurant in town, or maybe you just couldn't afford anything nice, so you're at the nearest diner. Or maybe somewhere in between?

2. Games. The two of you are playing a game somewhere! You could be at a bowling alley, an arcade, a miniature golf course...the possibilities here are countless.

3. The Park. Of course, Mother Nature can provide an excellent atmosphere for romantic bonding! Perhaps you're taking a leisurely stroll through the lush grounds, or maybe you've laid out a blanket somewhere so the two of you could have a picnic.

4. Movie Theater. Or maybe the two of you are sitting next to each other in a dark room, sharing a bucket of popcorn while you're watching the latest film. Did you opt for a horror flick to keep your significant other latched to your arm -- or for you to latch to theirs -- or perhaps something they enjoy, like a sappy romance film or a cheesy action flick? Or maybe you compromised and went to see a sweet romantic comedy.

5. Skating. It's always nice to go skating, right? Are you at a roller skating rink, or did you find a frozen lake and decide to go ice skating? Which one of you needs help (you know at least one of you does)?

6. Beach. Ahh, the beach! Go ahead and set up camp wherever you like! Or if you don't watn to lay down and catch a tan, you can go swimming, or take a walk along the shore! Or if you don't want getting sand on your feet or in your shoes, go hit up the boardwalk!

7. Sunday Drive. Sometimes you don't really have a destination in mind. Sometimes you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery. Well, here's your chance to do that!

8. Amusement Park. There's plenty to do here! Take your date on the Ferris wheel, or the tunnel of love...or something more thrilling, like a roller coaster! Walk around with cotton candy!

9. Dance/Ball. School dance? Prom? Business gala? Whatever it is, you're there, and you've got a date.

10. Wild Card. Your choice! Feel free to pick something that's not here.

1. Blind Date. You had no idea who you were going out with until you arrived! Was it a complete stranger, or did it turn out to be someone you knew?

[ Party Poison will find a pretty nondescript car parked outside of wherever he's working these days, with a red-haired chick settled on the hood. Whenever she spots him, she tells him to get his ass in the car, no, this is not a kidnapping, no, she's not going to take his picture, just get in the damn car and stop being so paranoid. Further arguing will get him a little post-it note, with Brad's handwriting, get in the car, come on dude, do it for me -- love Brad.

Turns out Brad's home from tour a little early, and he's itching to see you, oh husband dear. He'll be waiting against the back door into the restaurant he picked, a private place. ]

[Oh and it is an argument to get him into that car. It takes a fight and the note and his trainer's laughing insistence to finally coerce Party into agreeing, and he's angry and anxious the whole ride. He's going to die. There is no way this is actually Brad, Brad's on tour, he's got a few days and change before he's back, so obviously Party is going to die. Here. Today. Fuck, at least he got him a man.

[It doesn't help anything that pulling up behind a restaurant is definitely one of the sketchiest looking maneuvers around. He's about ready to garrote the driver when his eyes catch blue and he has to focus his energies on not shitting himself.] Omigod.

[The engine is barely idling before Party is tumbling out the door.] Fucker! [You can try to hug him or something, he's just going to punch your side.] No! No, no, when'd you get back?!

[ Oh hell no, he's not hugging him. Yet. Instead, he lifts his hands up defensively and bats at Party and laughs. ] Not long! Not long, dude, like three hours ago, and I'm totally jetlagged but I wanted to see you because, you know, it's been a long fucking time, obviously -- so. So uhm, hi.

[ He's still grinning, but it's kind of nervous, like he's afraid Party's going to like, hit him more or something. ]

Fuck "hi", fuck you! You coulda called, fucking warned me or told me or something! [He will hit Brad more! But his knuckles give way quickly to his palms pushing at Brad's chest and shoulders to his fingers sliding up around Brad's jaw to hold him still for an abrupt, rough kiss. Omigod.]

[ FLAIL totally giggling. ] Hey! Hey, no fuck you, I wanted to surprise you! If you weren't so freaking resistant to surprises I would've mmph-- [ Oh, well, okay. Brad sort of sighs happily and returns that kiss, hands sliding around Party's waist hesitantly. Oh god he missed you. ]

[On tiptoe, he loops his arms around Brad's shoulders, head dropping against his neck with a whine. No, he's totally not trying to hide anything, that is not wetness on his cheeks when he kisses Brad's neck, and no one would be able to hear his voice crack, it is totally subtle.] Well you fuckin surprised me! What happened, when'd you--are you done? Is it down time yet?

[ Shhh, shh, Party Poison, Brad hears you and he's okay with pretending like Party isn't all teary if it makes Party feel better. ] Yeah, yes, I'm done. We're off tour, we just got home for good, so. So -- yeah. [ He hugs Party even more tightly, sliding his hand up to rest on the back of Party's head. ]

[He stays there securely for a long time, just feeling the warm and the safe and the close that he hasn't been able to stop thinking about since they left. This is just going to get harder every time, isn't it? For now, though, it's a little easier, and it takes him a hefty amount of time to be okay with pulling away enough to actually look at Brad, hands running over and over his neck and shoulders.] Hi.

[ He's just smiling now, waiting, running his fingers through Party's hair absently, just thinking. Soaking this in, taking in what he missed, until Party pulls back. ] Hey. [ :3 He kisses Party again, just once, and lets his hands settle down in Party's back pockets. ] I'm starving, so -- so let's get something to eat, and -- and then we can go home and not have to get out of bed for like, the next three days, right?

Two days. [He corrects.] Some of us are productive members of society, what? Where do you wanna eat?

Oh psh, whatever. [ He pushes at Party's head playfully. ] In here, actually, this is why I brought you all the way to it. It has this super private place in the back and that means we don't have to worry about pictures and stuff. [ isn't he a considerate boyfriend ]

Oh! [The light visibly comes on in his head.] Oh, shit, I thought it was the mafia or something! You made reservations?

Duh. [ He laughs, grabbing Party's hand. ] Dude, what the hell did you think was going to happen? I mean, I have my connections but I don't have anything like the freaking mafia at my beck and call, just a personal assistant. You are so paranoid.

I'm not! [The protest comes with a blush that he can actually feel. Jesus.] It was weird, like right in front of everybody? "Party Poison, get in the car, don't ask questions, get in the fuckin car." Anyone would have been weirded out!

Hey, hey, I just wanted her to go get you, her being all like, "Dude get in the fucking car" was her spin on it, okay, not mine. [ He tugs at Party, opening the back door. ] She's... got a weird sense of humor, don't mind her. Whatever, come on.

[ One of Brad's friends works here, which means they get greeted by him, and they end up at a table that's pretty hidden from the rest of the place. ]

[The idea of being seated and served is still pretty awkward in his mind, but he's gotten used to it enough that he doesn't give the waitstaff weird looks anymore, and it only takes him a minute or so to settle in his chair. He asks for a water and a beer, and once their server takes Brad's drink order and leaves, Party slouches into the seat, bumping Brad's knee.] So: Europe?

[ Brad hooks his ankle around Party's under the table, settling down to wait. ] Pretty fucking awesome. We've had some fans over there freaking out for us to come to Europe for a while now so the energy was ridiculous. We had some fans show us places to go, and like, restaurants? And some of them ate with us! It was so cool, they were really happy. And the food was awesome -- kind of weird in some places, like -- that sushi I told you about, the stuff that made me like super violently sick? Yeah, that wasn't so great, but.

It was really fun. I never thought I'd ever get to go to Europe at all.

[He grins at remembering that story.] Dumb shit. Don't serve sushi here, do they? I'd steer clear, bad juju.

Was it really different? The-- [A vague gesture around.] --the whole place? Europe?

Yeah, I'm gonna stay away from it like, forever. It does not look good coming back up, let me tell you. [ Pause. ] Yeah. It is. I don't know what it is about it, it's just -- more open, maybe? Maybe I'm just used to New York, but it seemed less polluted, I don't know. Probably because I'm a tourist, grass is greener, whatever.

[He frowns a little, picking at the silverware.] Gettin tired of New York?

No. [ He nudges with his foot. ] New York's my home, dude, I'm not leaving it for good ever.

[Smirks.] Even if it's polluted and nasty?

I married you, didn't I?

[Party laughs, hand jumping up to comb back through his hair.] Guess you did, huh? [His thumb raps at the table for a second.] Speaking of polluted. [He chews at his cheek, scratches at the side of his nose.] Two weeks.
