[The glow started on the day that Finn came into her life, but since that had been on Jakku, Rey wouldn't really be surprised if that bit of knowledge wasn't exactly apparent to the person in question. She hadn't noticed it until they had gotten to Maz's place and BB-8 pointed it out to her. Yes, there was a lot of stuff going on, but you'd think that you'd notice that big a change about yourself.]

[A lot of stuff going on ... that was the way to describe everything that had happened since they met, and continued to happen. A part of Rey had begun to think that if she started to slow down, it still wouldn't be enough to catch her breath. They were members of the Resistance now, the First Order was after them both, there wasn't really time to have a day off - not that she actually knew what those words meant, but she'd heard the phrase]

[Little wonder she hadn't brought it up to Finn then. She didn't even know how long he'd had his glow]

Finn didn't notice the glow in his chest until they were crawling around Han's freighter when it was glow beneath his dark shirt. He did his best to hide it, but he was certain she'd seen it when they were at Maz Kanata's place. He didn't hide it then, but she didn't say a word. So when he noticed the glow in her chest, he didn't say anything either. This wasn't exactly something he learned about between his weaponry lectures and combat simulations, so he let it slide. No one else seemed to mention it either, he could see Poe giving him questioning looks sometimes but Finn didn't catch their meaning.

Of course he knew the implications behind it, it was his heart glowing for hers after all but Finn didn't really know how it worked. There were other couples in the Resistance who held hands and he liked holding Rey's hand but she didn't let him to it often. Or at all unless he was pulling her away from one danger or another. So he wasn't sure how anyone went from strangers with glowing chests to inseparable soul mates.

It took him 5 different attempts until Finn was finally able to approach her and say something instead of turn at the last moment and pretend to be interested in whatever was there. (It was usually nothing.) "Rey?" he asked in a low voice, looking very much like he was thinking of bolting. "Do--D'you think we could... talk about this?" Finn didn't think he needed to elaborate but he was itching to let words pour from his mouth to fill what already felt like an eternity of silence.

When Finn approached Rey, she was in the hanger, helping out by doing some repairs and update work to, well, pretty much whatever she could get her hands on. She had been spending the majority of her time in training with Master Skywalker, and the practical nature of just doing repair work served as a good relaxation for post-training for her. The Force was intangible, after all, working on something that was there? That was in front of her and she could touch and feel was a lot easier to deal with than anything else.

The problem with being so deep in repairs was that, initially, she didn't hear Finn. It took a few moments for her to turn, and to actually notice him.

"Wait, Finn?" She stepped out from under Black One and began wiping her hands on the nearest cloth out of habit. "When did you get here?" she asked, pushing some hair back out of her face. "Sorry, um, did you say something? Only I was working and..." her face showed her apologies. She really did get too involved with her work. Beyond that, well, Rey had a sinking suspicion she knew exactly why Finn had sought her out and she wasn't sure if it was a subject she could talk about. It just seemed too ... unreal, for her.
