❄ it's quiet and the snow's beautiful tonight → a winter open meme
‧ post with whatever character you want ‧ responders roll for weather + scenario and get to threading ‧ ??? ‧ profit
snowfall;
stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white. stage ii; very light and intermittent. stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods. stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall. stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.
scenarios;
① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.
[OOC: Let's definitely do a thing! Got III and 2. Let me know if this works.]
[Starkiller Base's weather was unpredictable at the best of times. No longer orbiting a sun had caused chaos where the atmosphere was concerned. While the snowfall was light most of the time, there were moments where it would start to fall harder. When the temperature dropped in such a short period of time, it caused havoc on the speeders used to maneuver through the forest.
Their speeder had clunked out miles away from the main portion of the base, or really, anything that constituted civilization. Kylo had been staring at the insides of the machine for about ten minutes before he finally gave up, kicking it in frustration. All that did was earn him a stubbed toe. He turn to Hux, who looked far too immaculately put together as usual to be out in this weather.]
[ ooc: wah you even started for me ilu this is perfect ♥︎ ]
Damn it all to- [ His words are drowned out by a resounding thunk of the general seating himself on the closest snowbank, grimacing because it's cold, and they are far from anything even relatively helpful, which is not ideal, because orders are orders and back to base generally required them to be, well, back at base timeously. Which is clearly not happening. ]
I don't suppose you have any kind of hidden skills assembling spare parts out of - foreign objects?
[ Foreign objects being - as of now? - trees and a lot of snow. Grand.
A sour look: ] Kicking our singular mode of transport probably isn't advisable, Kylo.
[ Trapped in the middle of the forceforsaken wilderness alongside his least-trusted ally is not how he had envisioned spending this evening. Ren is trying at the best of times (Hux could wax poetic on the drama of being darkside of the force; such terrible, terrible angst - spare him, now he's stuck in a snowstorm with it). The most productive move he can accomplish right now is to adjust his hair. ] You took the turn too sharply. If you had eased up on the gas, then we would not be in this position. If you had let me drive, then we would most certainly not be in this position.
The only thing I could build right now would be a log cabin.
[Actually, that might be fairly helpful with the way the weather is going. Kylo turns his face to the sky. The flakes coming down settle onto his mask and cloak, clinging to him. He's given up trying to brush them away. He whirls on his heel to glare at Hux's accusations.]
Don't put all the blame on me. If you had driven, we'd have gotten five feet further and you know it.
[Bickering with each other is pointless. But it's also such fun, and it's not like they've got anything else to do. Giving up on the speeder, Kylo looks around the clearing they're stranded in. It's far from ideal. Still, there's enough materials to make a crude shelter. He ignites his lightsaber and stomps over to the nearest tree. Step one: get some branches together. He starts slashing down the biggest, sturdiest ones he can.]
[ The lightsaber (with all of its weight of myth and legend) is impressive nonetheless. Hux refuses to allow the gleam of envy to show in his face, but it spikes in him all the same. What a weapon. Ren truly moves like a predatory thing. Effortless, efficient. What a thing it must be, to have the force on one's side; that invincible knowledge that one is powerful beyond measure. Not a man but a conduit. A bit brutish, yes, but very well trained.
A beast with a collar, as it should be.
He huffs, watching the display. ] Well, apparently you do have your uses.
[ Pulling his cloak closer around him, Hux squints upwards at the dark sky, snow spiraling down towards them, the thunk of the fallen tree resounding in the lull. ] Doesn't your precious Force tell you these things? Or does it not have an accurate forecast? Can't be all that helpful, then.
[ He is watching, though, lip curled, eyes tracking the movements of the black-clad figure. ] Look at you, so productive.
[ Say what you will, Hux is fully of the belief that he ought to have driven. Never let a Force-Sensitive do the work of a mortal man. Them and their elevated egos. They do work so hard, though, don't they? ]
[Ren tries to ignore the jibes tossed his way. This is nothing new. Just another round in their many verbal sparring matches. He focuses on the task at hand, namely, dragging the sturdiest branches over to the speeder so that he can prop them up in a lean-to.
When Hux makes light of the Force, he bristles like an angry dog.]
The Force is not for such trivial matters. It's never to be used lightly.
[Though using it to Force choke Hux into unconsciousness is a tempting prospect right now. That definitely wouldn't be a trivial matter.]
Now get up and help me with these branches. Unless such work is beneath you.
