Arranged Marriage

Marriage for love is a such a modern concept. In the past, marriage was
recognised as a social contract. Unions were entered into for many
reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,
et cetera. Whatever the reason, congratulations, you're getting married!

HOW IT WORKS:

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE:
① Station → You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
② Feud → You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
③ Economics → Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
④ Empire → You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
⑤ Tribute → You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.
⑥ Bloodline → Carrying on your distinguished family name has fallen to you and the equally well-bred spouse of your family's selection.
⑦ Disapproval → Your marriage has been arranged to keep you away from the person with whom you truly wish to be.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:
① First meeting → This is the very first time you're meeting your future spouse.
② Courtship → To get to know each other and encourage affection, your family has approved of you going on dates.
③ Engagement party → Be it a huge, formal affair or a small, intimate get together, you're celebrating (or pretending).
④ Wedding day → The big day!
⑤ Reception → The big party!

[ This would be a lot less Awkward(tm) if not for their slightly muddled history. This would also be a lot more awkward if it wasn't Eichi and Leo that were dealing with what could only described as a political marriage. Both of them could deal with this situation in their own way certainly, perhaps one better than the other but Eichi won't dwell too much on that...he's frankly been more interested in learning about the Leo of now than remembering the Leo of the past.

He's always been something to amuse Eichi, relieve him of his boredom...but now? He's ten times that. At least in this emperor's opinion. All of that aside, it's time to now get to the root of today's meeting. [ Open to partial AUs (like the marriage is arranged to gain influence
for the Inquisition) and full-blown AUs appropriate for the setting. Open to all prompts. ]

[ There was a very large tribe of rather.... special people to put it simply. Lycanthropes who through dedication and sheer single-mindedness managed to train themselves to control what they are. They're not entirely open about how long they have been like this but they are powerful warriors and scouts given just how different they are from normal people.

Marion is the eldest grandchild of the current tribal chieftain. Their ruling council would only sign on if one of their people married into the Inquisition. They saw it as perfectly reasonable and a good way to show their commitment to helping to seal the giant hole in the sky.

Marion hadn't exactly known about her engagement. She had been off hunting with some of her younger tribe mates. Teaching them how to tap into their senses while still human looking. So she is running late and trying very hard to not look like she just grabbed the first clean thing she could find.

Which she did but that's not the point. One of her younger cousins is snickering as they stride in together. She elbows him sharply and gives him a bit of a glare as she tries to gather some kind of dignity. That moment is lost when she is met with some very friendly fellow Lycans who insist on dragging her towards where the Inquisition's people have gathered. Marion just gives a very owlish blink then smiles slightly. ]

Terribly sorry I seem to be running late. I forgot ya all were due to arrive today. [ She tries for a charming smile but it comes off as slightly strained because her friends and fellow tribe mates are enthusiastic about everything. Marion tends to be far more restrained than them. ] I would have been here sooner. I was out showing some of the young ones a few tricks of the trade, you could say.

[All of a sudden, Keito's been arranged for marriage with none other than the man he calls "childhood friend", Eichi Tenshouin. Though he wonders exactly why, he's not one to complain. If it means serving a purpose, then that's all the better, but also... well, it's Eichi! They already know each other and have been friends for so long, he doesn't doubt that this would go without a hitch.

The only issue that presents itself here is... dating.

He's definitely not the most experienced in the field of "love", but he can sure try. That's why it's about time for them to go on their first date--it shouldn't be any different from a regular outing, right? Keito's even got everything all planned out!]

We've met on time at 8:00 am sharp. Next we'll be going to the history museum; we should arrive there at 8:20 am and I've already prepared everything so I'll be the one giving the tour.

Then comes the lunch break at noon--I've gotten reservations for a cafe nearby. After that we'll go to-- [He keeps rambling on about their plans. Maybe this is just... too rigid?]

[Megumi would do anything for the sake of her family's Ryokan. Her mother had assured her that, if she really didn't like her partner, then they'd find some other way to support the family business—maybe eventake out a loan until Megumi graduated and began gaining acclaim as a chef—but she had made her choice. Megumi would be a liar of epic proportions f she said she wasn't intimidated by her match, partly because he was a young man of epic proportions. But she mustered up what courage she could and agreed to continue seeing him after the initial omiai.

Which leads her to today, trying not to hunch up as she drags him all over the rural village they accidentally got stranded in because she got the stops mixed up. There are plenty of regional dishes and fascinating new ingredients for her to try, but she can't help peeking back at him guiltily every now and then.]
