snowfall;
stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white. stage ii; very light and intermittent. stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods. stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall. stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.
scenarios;
① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.
[Hikari had been so excited when Takeru came to visit.]
[It was several months after their return from the Digital World. After he'd had to go back to Setagaya with his mother. She'd known they would see one another again, yes. He'd promised to keep in touch. What she hadn't known was that the opportunity would come so soon.]
[What she also hadn't known was the fact that it would snow on the night he was schedule to stay over. For a time, Hikari had been worried he wouldn't be allowed to come after all. It had taken a bit of convincing--and more than a bit of help from Yamato--but, in the end, it was decided that he would be just as safe at the Yamagi residence as he would be staying with his father.]
[The snow started maybe an hour after dinner. Hikari couldn't help sitting by the sliding glass door that led to their balcony, staring up at the dark sky. Mesmerized by the tiny white balls of fluff.]
It snowed that day too. Didn't it?
[She figured she didn't need to clarify. Hikari might not have been at the camp when the strange weather pattern hit, but she heard all about it later.]
After being away from all his friends for so long, the only thing that was running through his mind was just to see them again! And especially with how busy his mom would get, it seemed like he wasn't going to see them for a while.
Of course, when he got the news that he would be able to spend some more time, he couldn't help but give out a loud cheer! While he wasn't able to spend that much time with his brother, he was just happy to spend the day at Hikari's place!
But as his friend just stared out at the window, the blond couldn't help but do the same. With that much snow coming down, it was tempting to just go out and play!]
Yeah, it did and it was really awesome to see snow in the middle of summer! I really wished that I got a chance to build a snowman before we all went to the Digital World though.
[Though, really, there was nothing stopping them; the balcony outside was large enough that the piles of snow accumulating would be enough for a little sculpture sometime within the next half hour. Enough time for both of them to take all the necessary precautions. Gloves. Hat. Scarves. Reassuring Taichi that they would be just outside and a little cold never hurt anyone. Even if they've...had colds before.]
[While Takeru wanted to go outside as soon as he could, he was a little worried if Hikari was going to be okay. The last thing he wanted was for her to get sick in the middle of having fun!
But once he got everything on, he just simply smiled at her]
And there! I think I got everything on! How about you, you ready to go outside?
[She had on thick jeans, a warm sweater beneath her waterproof jacket, gloves, a scarf....]
Aha! There it is!
[Having searched the majority of the living room, including sticking her head behind the television set (just in case), HIkari found the fluffy white hat sitting atop a coat rack by the main entrance. She had to jump twice before she reached the necessary hight to pull it down, then over her brown hair. The sides just barely came down over her ears, shielding the top of them as well.]
[Their boots were sitting by the balcony door, ready to be put on the moment they went outside.]
Ready.
[She glanced through the glass, her eyes lighting up.]
Takeru-kun, look! It must come all the way up to our ankles now!
[And here, the boy decided to help Hikari out by finding the rest of her clothes! He searched high and low looking for the mysterious coats and scarf! No matter what he did, he made it be known that he wasn't going to give up until he found everything that Hikari needed!
And especially now that they were going out in the snow! He had to on the lookout for her!
But when they finally found everything? He just continued giggling as he saw the snow falling down even faster than before!]
Yeah, it looks like it! We better hurry though or else the snow might bury us! And especially when we want to make a snowman!
[Her eyes twinkled as she slid open the door and took a tentative step outside. Her boots sunk in all the way up to her ankles. A second step. Same result. Moving to one side so that Takeru could follow her, she then bent down and proceeded to scoop up a small amount of fluff. It packed together nicely. But it also blew from her fingers with a single breath.]
We should make the body first. I remember...
[More snow, and she walked out a few feet onto the porch before taking a large scoop and making it into a snowball. Then placing that snowball on the ground and rolling it a little so that it would pick up more snow. Like a katamari ball.]
I think this was how oniichan used to do it, but I'm not sure if it's big enough to work. We might need a bigger snowball first.
[With each step that Takeru took, only giggles escaped out of his mouth. As he heard the crunch, he couldn't help but continue to step around as much of the snow as he possibly could! It's been so long since he last saw snow, he wanted to save this moment forever!
...Oh right, the snowman!]
Yeah, we should! We might want to make it really big and fat too!
[He smiled before scooping up an even bigger snowball. Although, unlike Hikari, he just gathered up as much snow as he possible could in one spot instead!]
How about this way? You think we can do it that way?
[She was still rolling her ball around and around when he suggested his alternative. So she glanced up and over to his pile. Then back to hers. Taichi hadn't been wrong; the snowball was getting bitter. It was also smoother and rounded than Takeru's increasing clump, but...]
[She picked it up--it took both hands to do so now--and tossed it onto his pile.]
I think so.
I'll go get more snow from over there.
[There was a section of the balcony where the wind blew a drift up against the wall of the apartment. Higher than the rest. It would be easier to scoop without having to bend down so low.]
[And from there, Takeru quickly made sure the rest of that snow made it onto the snowman! As he tried to get as much snow as he could onto the snowman, he had to admit. His hands were already starting to get cold. While he tried to move his fingers a little bit more, they looked like they were getting a bit more difficult to move.
So much for trying to make sure Hikari was safe when he probably didn't get the right gloves for snow!]
And there, I think that should be good enough!
[He said as the body of the snowman got to the right height.] All we need now is to add the second part of the body!
[Hmm. He had a point. With all the snow they'd already piled onto the body, they would have to lift the snowman's head practically as high as their own! Maybe higher.]
[Unless...]
Wait! I have an idea.

[With that, she brushed off the snow still clinging to her own gloves--giving absolutely no sign one way or the other as to how cold her hands might be--and headed for the door. Pausing just long enough to take off her boots, stepping her stocked feet inside so as to not track snow. The door was only left slightly adjar to keep the warmth of the room trapped inside as she could be heard running across the room. To the kitchen.]
[She returned less than a minute later with a small step stool in hand.]
[In the meantime, here the younger boy was trying to find the quickest way to warm up his hands and fast! Quick, while Hikari's inside getting something, he quickly placed his hands under his armpits! Quickest way to warm things up ever!
Of course, he only has about a couple of seconds before she was going to come back out!
Although, by the time that she came back out? She'll find him trying his best to warm up! Even if he does look a little silly right now!]
T-That's great, I think that's a great idea! We'll use this and we'll make the best snowman ever!
[And just like that, he quickly went over to her before wincing at how cold he was feeling]

[Hikari's expression faltered before she even had a chance to get her boots back on. She lowered the stool in her hands ever so slightly, head tilting and suddenly seeming worried.]
Why didn't you tell me you were cold, Takeru-kun?
We can go back inside for a little bit. [A pause, followed by:] ...actually, I was getting a little cold too. I just didn't want to take you away from your snowman so soon, after how badly you wanted to make one before.
[At least he can say that he was trying, that was more important thing!
But the moment that he saw Hikari's expression, that's when he started to look worried. While he wasn't making any attempt to hide it, he really did think that she wouldn't notice!]
W-Well, I'm not. I'm only a little bit cold! And you seemed really happy to go outside that I didn't want to take that away!
[Although, now that he got a good look at the giant ball of snow] But do you think we can finish it quickly? It'll done before you know it! Pretty please, I don't want stop making a snowman and stop half way through!
[She hesitated at first. A certain are you sure? expression on her face.]
[Then, she smiled and gave him an enthusiastic nod.]

If that's what you want, then we'll have to do our best. [She stepped back into her boots and shut the door behind her, walking through the snow to place the stepstool beside the pile of snow they'd already accumulated.] Here. At least now, we'll be able to reach easier.
[Yes, he's certain! He really really wanted to build a snowman okay? Can you blame him for that? As he gave a quick nod, he just quickly smiled at her]
Be careful though, the snow can be slippery! Make sure you don't fall okay?
[He said before trying his best to gather as much snow as he possibly could around the pile of snow. Although, he had to do it quick or else he was going to get sick! Eventually, when he managed to get enough?]
Hm...do you think you can get it all up on top? It’s sure a lot of snow though.
[Of course she couldn't blame him! Save for the slight sting in the tips of her fingers, she was having lots of fun too!]

[She proceeded to do the same, grabbing small bits of snow in her hands and slowly adding it to Takeru's pile. Only, this time, they also had to make sure to pack it in extra tight so they could roll it up and place it on top as the head.]
Maybe we can do it together. The stool's not very big, but neither are we.
[As Takeu continued to add more snow, the more he had to think of something. Just how were they going to get all that snow on top of the other?]
Yeah, that sounds like it would be a good idea! And if we fall, I think that's okay too! We got all the extra snow so it'll be nice and fluffy when we land!
[Or at least he hopes so anyway. But by the time when it looked like it was enough, he simply looked back at the other girl]
And there! I think that should be good! On the count of 3, let's try and lift it up together! One...two...three...!
[Hikari poured as much strength as she could. Her arm muscles shook, but...they did it! They managed to lift the huge. tightly-packed ball of snow in their arms!]
Alright, I'm going to step on the stool---[A small grunt as she shifted her weight ever so slightly]--first. Ready?
[Using all of his strength, his arm shook as well as he tried to get it all on top! With a loud cheer, he couldn't help but laugh when they finally lifted it off!]
I'm ready whenever you are! Just be sure to take all steps though!
[With that, he walked ever so slowly closer to the stool as he tried to make sure Hikari was ready as well]
But I can’t wait to see Taichi-san’s and your mom’s when they finally see our snowman! I bet we can even call him Yukidarumon!
[Despite her excitement, her brows were furrowed together in concentration as she took another cautious step back. feeling for the stool with her foot. When her heel bumped into it, she slowly lifted it until it was resting atop the stood. Then, while slowly lifting the giant ball of snow with her, she lifted the other foot until she was kneeling on the stool to keep level with Takeru's arms.]
Okay, I think I'm steady. Can you make it up here too?
[Although, the problem was that he couldn't really quite see the stool with the giant snow blocking his view. But as he continued to take small steps, he waited until his foot hit the stool. With a mumble or two, he looked back at Hikari and then back at the pile of snow before him]
I'm stepping up right now, you better hold on though! [And just like that, he slowly took a step forward up to the stool while he was trying to maintain his balance. Slowly but surely? He manages to completely get on it!]
And there! I'm on! That wasn't so bad, I thought it would be a lot harder!
[Her legs wobbled a little beneath her from the exertion, but she was determined to see this all the way through!]
Let's give poor Yukidarumon his head now. Ready?
[She braced herself, planting both feet firmly on the stool in preparation for having to shirt her weight to toss the giant ball of snow in their arms on the even more giant pile of snow.]
[Takeru wanted to make sure that the pile of snow was directly on top! While he tried to make sure that he took most of the weight, he was starting to wonder if their snowman was going to look as great as he thought it would!]
And there! All we need now is the ears and some arms!
[As he looked at the ground, he suddenly had a thought!] Oh, I know! Do you have some sticks around? I think it would look really cool if we used that as his arms!
[She glanced around the balcony area. Which was noticeably devoid of any plant life.]
Ah! [But then a thought came to her!] We could use a pair of cooking chopsticks! And Oniichan has extra scarves. I'm sure he won't mind if we borrow one.
