Snow Day!!

The Snow Day Meme
Whether is was announced on the local news station or it's a
freak storm. You wake up to the news that school is cancelled,
transport is down or perhaps you need to take a personal day
because of unfavorable conditions. The point is it's a snow day!
So enjoy it at your leisure.
[x] Reply to the post with your character/preferences.
[x] Respond to others with one of the prompts listed.
(or make your own!)
[x] Have fun!
Snowed in: uh-oh, it looks like it may have snowed a little too much last night, and now you're stuck inside. So grab a hot cup of cocoa, curl up and relax. Or maybe you're going a little stir crazy. Have fun with it.
Snowball fight!: Arguably the best part of a snow day, right? Gathering a bunch of friends, or just one, and spending the day in modern snowy warfare. You better make your ammunition and pile that snow fort high, you don't have much time before the snow begins to fly.
Ice rink: Oh wow, winter hit pretty hard, didn't it? The local pond froze over and is even safe enough to go skating on! So grab your skates and hit the ice-- not literally, though. That hurts.
Walking in a winter wonderland: The way the snow glistens is rather pretty, isn't it? Sure it's cold but it's not so bad if you're spending it with a loved one, enjoying the scenery and staying close to keep warm. ;)
Etc: Don't like any of the prompts? That's cool. Feel free to do whatever you like. Just have fun.

But when the mention of an 'ice rink' had been made... Well, she was a little more than apprehensive. She knew better than to ask how people could move on two thin blades. It was all physics. She understood the principles of that.
She was more concerned about her actual capability. To her, it felt like there were still times when she had trouble managing four limbs. Two thin blades would only complicate matters.
"How am I to maintain my balance on two thin blades?"

"I do have kiddy skates somewhere inside if you'd prefer to use them instead," The Doctor says, as he zips past her with his arms behind his back. "But I'd thought you'd appreciate the challenge."
He spins around to skate backwards towards her, and he comes to a stop. He then proceeds to offer her a hand, the last thing he needs is for her to break a leg. And there's no flashcard needed to point this out. "Com'on take my hand and I'll show you how it is done."
no subject
She watches him as he makes it all look so effortless. Impressive since he seems to be all limbs. She still looks scared. But, when has she ever rightly refused her Pilot?
She slowly reaches out her hand to take his and then puts one skate on the ice, followed by the other. She squeaks a little as she continues to move without intending to. And the only thing that stopped her was the Doctor serving as an immovable force.
The Doctor had about a foot on her when it came to height. So, being this close to him, looking up meant looking up. "Sorry."
But that action made her go backwards a bit. She gasped again and squeezed her eyes shut, as if preparing to crash into something any moment.

He takes in a deep breath of the cold air, and he aaahs. He loves the cold and crispness of the cold, the fresh and almost clean feeling in the air. "And don't be sorry, there's no need for sorry; let this be a day without feeling sorrow."
no subject
She will tease the Doctor right back. After all, it's how they work. It's how they've always worked, from the earliest days...
And then he is pulling her along. She quickly takes the other hand he offered to her. It provides more balance. She can't keep from blushing, though. Yes, she's still embarrassed: Controlling and manipulating the whole of time and space is easy. Moving fleshy limbs in a coordinated fashion, not so much.
"In theory if you go faster, it will be easier to keep balance. I do understand physics, Doctor. However the practical application in this body leaves something to be desired."
Of course, her head is down, staring at their feet, she's not looking where they're going at all. Hope the Doctor is. But when the Doctor mentions sorrow she lifts her head to meet his. She gives a small nod and a bit of a smile breaks through.
"I thought it was polite to apologise for bumping into people. All of your companions seem to think that is the appropriate reaction."
Now she's confused, what does 'sorry' have to do with 'sorrow.'

Bump. Bump. Bump. Bump. His skates go as he skates along the ice and he holds Cridhe's hands loose enough for her to break free of his grasp if she opts to do so. "And that's one of the reasons I picked a quiet spot without anyone to get mad at us if we happen to bump into them." He cranes his neck around to check behind him again. "That's unless you're worried about upsetting the fish that are hibernating under the ice."
He turns his head around to face her again, with a hint of a smile on his face. "Now, once you're ready feel free to let go of my hands and try not to let yourself become one with the ice."
no subject
She gives a nervous giggle and speaks softly. "Okay."
She just wanted to let him know she was going to let go. At first she kind of shuffles the skates a long and makes little gasps (or louder squeaks) each time she went over a bump. But soon she seems to have the hang of it. She won't be skating backwards any time soon, but she can keep up with the Doctor well enough to skate near enough so they can talk.
"What is so special about snow? Everyone we travel with always seems to have these ideas in their head about how wonderful it is. Even you do - depending on your incarnation...."
It's all new to her, so she doesn't really know why it would be considered to be so magical.
no subject
"That and..." He starts to skate backwards once more towards the shore. He bends down to scoop up a clump of snow. "I've never been one to back down from a snow war! And I've made some of the best snow forts one has ever seen." His voice brightens up as he expresses his fondness for snow, as he continues to make the perfect snowball.
"And I'm sure there are other reasons as to why I find it to be magical, but I'm sure they're all very boring."
Sorry for the delay, accidentally deleted the notif.
And he thought he could be overly scientific about things. But then she sees him skate away to pick up snow, just as he says 'snow war' and she gets concerned.
Her voice is hesitant. "Doctor...? What are you doing?"
She's so concerned that she misses the last sentence. She skates closer to him, because well, he is always safe, right? Even when he's reckless.
Sorry for the delay, rl keeps gobbling my soul. :)
Now there is the question of pelting her with the snowball, and risk the chance of getting himself into deep trouble or not. "I'm making a ball of snow that is meant to be thrown at another person. It normally results in the other person being quite cross because I hit them with snow, or laughing and joining in the fun." The Doctor opts against throwing the snowball at Cridhe, and he hands it to her just to see what she will do with it.
"Or you could try eating it."
My soul, my body and my mind. I can relate :)
Don't go getting ideas, Doctor, because her skates come out from under her, so her bum isn't a target, sorry. Of some concern though, might be the way her hole body is shaking. It's that tell-tale shaking of what might be tears.
Because, planting yourself face-first is sometimes painful.
no subject
"You're alright I hope." He doesn't notice the tears, but he does notice the shaking. "Yes, yes, yes, it's cold, but don't worry I'll go about making us some nice homemade coca inside of the box." He is trying to do his best to be nice without the use of the damn flashcards Clara had made for him.
He wraps his arms around her waist, and he goes to pull her face out from the snowdrift. "And you can proceed to cuss at me if that's what you want to do."
no subject
Her face is red and wet from being impacted in the snow and there's a lovely strange 'face print' where her head had landed, but there's no blood.
As he pulls her out of the snow she has to handfuls of snow and she proceeds to try to turn around to throw them at him. Not that it would do a lot of good. They're not snowballs. Just clumps of snow she could grab hold of.
"Cuss at you? Never. Waking you up at all hours or cold showers, maybe. But not cussing."
She's teasing - sort of. She could get him lost in the halls, though. That's always a fun trick to play on people.
no subject
He peers down at the glistening snowflakes on his black coat, and he doesn't see reason to dust himself off. "Oooh, I might be giving you a good reason to." He reaches down to pick up his own wad of snow, and he doesn't even bother to make another perfect snowball and instead he goes to throw it at Cridhe.
"Then consider this a bit of revenge served cold for those showers, mmm," teases, The Doctor.
no subject
Her giggles turn into a bit of laughter. As she tries to scoop up two arms-full of snow to throw at him.
That doesn't go as well as planned as she goes to throw it, she looses her balance again. She falls to the ice and while a bit of snow lands on him most of it lands on top of her.
She's not laughing now. Just in kind of a daze, as she looks around. "What happened?"
She has no clue what she did wrong to end up on the ice.
