It's like a heatwave burning in my heart

holy crap it wasn't that hot out last week. Now suddenly the mercury's skyrocketing and you have to find some way to beat the heat

001 PLAYGROUND - man that asphault is a killer. Better try and find some cover quick
002 AT HOME - Ac's broken. it's too hot. And opening a window seems to have no effect.

005 LOCKED OUT - Crap. Where did you put your keys. Did you REALLY manage to lock yourself out on the hottest day of the year?

004 NIGHT - And it's night. And not cooling down. At all. Good luck getting any sleep.

(( ON A SOCCERFIELD IN THE AFTERNOON ))

[ Training is always tiring, but that goes double with this sort of heat. So, approaching Endou-- two cans of ice-cold soda in his hands and a smile on his face]

Yo, Endou-kun.

[It's tiring indeed and this heatwave is just crazy, it makes even the inside of the air conditioned rooms feel stuffed and uncomfortable. The perfect day to just want to be lazy and do nothing, crawling under a shade with tons of water and doing nothing. That doesn't apply to Endou, even if there wasn't practice he would be there doing it by himself if it was needed, he had his grandfather's notebook with tons of special training after all. It's exhausting, but the more tiring it is the more it makes the body work and improve... Or so does he believe.

That doesn't mean he won't accept a can of ice-cold soda if offered. He pauses in his training to answer the red-head, a wide and bright -even if a bit tired and sweaty- smile on his face.]

Good work today, Hiroto!

[ It's just like Endou to be working hard even in this heat. As always, his enthusiasm is incredibly contagious, and seeing his smile is enough to make Hiroto smile, too. ]

Mmh. It's a little difficult with this heat, but it's good to build up stamina.

Taking a small break should be fine for now, though.

That's right! Soccer isn't just about strong hissatsus and strategies after all, if you can't endure a game none of those will be enough! We have to be ready to play in the middle of a heatwave or even the middle of a blizzard, after all the world is pretty big and it has all kinds of weathers. If we really want to become the very best we need to be able to play anywhere!

[Still, Hiroto has a point and so Endou laughs and nods.]

You're right, a break every now and then is needed too. It won't do if we exhaust ourselves with just practices!

[ Nodding at Endou's words, and going to sit on ~~Fudou's throne~~ the bench nearby ]

That's true. The world is a pretty big place, after all. There's all kinds of soccer we still have to see.

I guess for someone like you it's difficult to stay still while thinking about that.

[Endou nods again with a smile. Hey, at least he's generally aware of his own faults and doesn't deny them. He's not perfect and he's a soccer idiot who can't stop thinking about soccer or stay still regarding it, so what? That's the way he is and he's happy with it.]

Exactly! Just thinking about all the people there are in the world, all the awesome teams we may come to face and play against... It makes my blood boil even more than this heat does! There's always someone new to play against, new hissatsu being created, new strategies, soccer is always changing! It's sooo thrilling that I can barely wait to reach there.

The best part is that even when you reach there, there will still be even more path to follow after that!

[Always new teams, new positions to play, and even when he grows older soccer will still have the same thrill as it does now, new challenges, different ways to play a game but always the same pure soccer that he loves. Still he manages to contain himself and sit besides Hiroto rather than run to keep practicing, all bumped up by his own words.]

[ there's a genuine, amused laugh at Endou's words. Really, this is just the sort of thing he'd say. It's this drive— this absolute determination that attracted him to Endou in the first place. He has the power to change everything with his words alone. Giving him a bit of a nod, he smiles at him. ]

Always more things to see, right...? If it's at your side, I think we'll really have the chance to see all of them.

[ turning his head to look at the field rather than Endou now-- the smile on his face is still there. ]

You know, I can't wait to see it. The path you'll lead us to.

[Endou just laughs at that a bit embarrassed.]

Ah, no... It's thanks to everyone that we can get anywhere, so it's not me leading you or anything. If it hadn't been for any of you, even when we played against each other, I wouldn't have gotten far myself either.
