Run Away With Me
![]() The two of you have decided to run away together. Bottom line, you've come up with that plan and you've worked up the guts and the means to do it. The most obvious source of a desire to leave together is a romance you can't have until you're gone from this place. It's like all the eloping that happened in those epics of old. How charmingly beautiful! How romantic! Who says the old ways have gone out of style? But other reasoning behind the decision could be from the serious - you both want to escape imprisonment, an oppressive atmosphere, or a miserable destiny - to the more lighthearted. Maybe an adventure is just what you need, where you'll finally get to see the world...and, slowly, fall in love. Because that's what the crux of all this is: even if the escape started out as mere convenience, you both want to stay close and work together. In the end, when you've finally run where you want to be and the danger, if any, has passed, you may find you don't want to go your separate ways.

Re: neophyte redglare ❧ homestuck ❧ ota
At least she'd managed to (finally) convince Redglare to work with her, right? Shame it had been as her ship was being raided by subjuggulators in an effort to capture her and rescue and/or (one could never be sure with clowns) the legislacerator, meaning that they were now escaping with only a few prized possessions on the back of Pyralsprite.
"I hope you've learned to not have your head stuck quite so far up your chute, Redglare!"
Honestly, Mindfang wasn't sure that the other could even hear her.

and really, the last thing she needed was Mindfang's sass.]
SHUT. UP. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with!
[whoa there. time to take the heat from boiling to simmering.]

Her ship was being ransacked, crew being slaughtered...sure, she had the octet, and her secret weapon-as well as her stash of treasure not kept on a ship-but this was terrible. Luckily, the surge of excitement that they could work together, that her efforts to convince Redglare she'd make a better pirate-and rival-than law enforcement made up for that quite a bit.
no subject
I can't believe this.
[ugh. she'd rather be buried in ten thousand sweeps of paperwork than be a traitor to the empire with mindfricker. pouting, she lays against pyralspite and sighs. only dad understood her.]
no subject
"Alternatively, you could have decided against being a pompous legislacerator and attacking me, but here we are. Let's just make the most of it, alright?"
Even though they could never shoot down Pyralspite, the clowns seemed to be following-waiting for him to land, perhaps?

mindfang should really learn how to not talk ever. especially when redglare is upset about the world collapsing around her. looking over her shoulder, she glares at her new partner in crime.]
I will drop you right off Pyralspite. Right into the hands of the Grand Highblood himself! I swear on the Mother Grub! [and in her irritation, she leans over the side of her dragon, and yells down to the clowns] GO HOME! STOP FOLLOWING US!
[and then it's back to laying on dad, and sighing. her new life...]

Grinning cheekily at Redglare, Mindfang followed her gaze-two, maybe three ships still following them. And the sun would be up in just a couple of hours.
"Can we get up in the clouds and double back or something? There's no way we'll lose them at this rate."
no subject
[she spits it out at mindfang, with as much venom as she can muster, but she doesn't mean a word of it. friend, enemy, or something else entirely, it didn't matter. she had other things to focus on.]
Don't tell me what to do! [ugh, this is awful. but she takes a bit of mindfang's advice. she directs pyralspite to make a sharp left in the clowns' view, then brings them above the clouds, in the direction they were headed.]
That should keep them occupied for a bit...
no subject
"Doubling back entirely would have been far more effective, you know. Where are we even going?" As far as Mindfang was aware, there was no specific destination in mind, but here they were, maintaining whatever route they were on.
no subject
You know what?! If you think you know what we should be doing then YOU can tell Pyralspite where to go! [she knew what she was doing, but working with mindfang instead of against her was driving her insane. how her crew tolerated her was a mystery. sighing, she ran her hand through her hair, and tried to cool down.]
We're going AWAY from the League, first... but I have friends in the north who could help... us. [NASTY. TERRIBLE. it's no longer "redglare vs. mindfang". it's "redglare AND mindfang"... if this is a dream, it's a SHIT DREAM.]

[because everyone deserves an equal shot at freedom and happiness, no matter their caste. and that's probably why redglare had a change of heart and rescued mindfang. probably...]
You know full well a subjugglator isn't a friend. I worked with them for sweeps and they could never be friends, and they never will be. ["yeah, just bury those red feelings you had for king dickmuncher of the clowns. keep telling yourself you hate them." "SHUT UP REDGLARE." "no, YOU shut up."]
no subject
"What friends are these, exactly, that they'll help anyone? Sounds to me like it'd be risky to involve ourselves with them."
no subject
It's not. There's other risks, but them selling us out is not one of them. Rest assured, I know what I'm doing.
[she narrows her eyes, and focuses on the pink moon ahead of them for a moment, using her moment of clarity and calmness to plan ahead, her mind following twenty different routes and trying to see the best course of action. but she wouldn't know which one would work until they landed, or if one would work at all.]

for the first time all night, she smiles. it's not that manic, terrifying grin she uses to intimidate people, but a genuine smile, and she starts to laugh. it's loud, but it's so sincere in it's strange joy. mindfang is silent, she's flying, and she's free. no more clowns, no more paperwork, no more dumb uniforms, no more words from mindfang. she can't stop laughing, and she howls at the sky, revelling in it all.]
no subject
no subject
[she spurs pyralspite to go faster, and howls again, then turns around entirely to face mindfang.]
But I'll be happy to hand deliver you to them. If that's what you want, we can land right now. [she grins devilishly, and laughs like an excited child.]
no subject
Rolling her eyes at the teal blood, she fell silent. There wasn't much point in arguing, at least until they reached their destination. And besides, whether or not she was an annoyance, Redglare would at least get them wherever they were going, right?
no subject
she leers at mindfang, her grin all teeth, then lays back against pyralspite, looking to the sky.] You have to wonder what the papers will say about us.
