Rain, rain, go away

the rain meme
Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.
Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.
Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

intensity
1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.
2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.
3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.
4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!
5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!
prompts
1. A DARK, STORMY NIGHT ☂ You know all those stories that start off with a stormy night before something goes wrong: a murder, an attack by ninjas, a crime. It is one of the best known clichés in the world, and you’re stuck in the middle of it.
2. HUMIDITY ☂ It’s that time of the year again when the humidity rises and the rain has two options: make it worse or make it go away. Good luck getting the latter.
3. GRAY RAIN OF DEPRESSION ☂ We all know this one. Stuck in the middle of no where, or right after an argument, or something that leads to angst, the rain decides to express someone’s feelings in a physical form, serious or over the top.
4. QUIET MORNING ☂ Nothing to do, nowhere to be… sometimes the rain is a welcomed addition to a quiet day. Gives you an excuse to stay in, curl up in a warm blanket and a book, maybe a loved one or a cup of hot chocolate. With sprinkles.
5. PUDDLES ☂ After it rains, what is the number one thing you have to do? Go put on some rubber boots and splash around of course!
6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.
7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.
8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?
9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!
10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.
11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!
12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.
13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.
14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.
15. WILD CARD ☂ Was there something I missed? Did you want to roll again or choose your own adventure? Go for it!
2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.

The fact that he's made a plan, of course, means that something has to happen to prevent it. Konoha doesn't even get rain like this normally, at least not that Sasuke remembers. The innkeeper is none too pleased to be asked to keep his belongings -- save the sword -- behind the front desk. Sasuke won't be surprised if they're mysteriously lost by the time he returns, but there's not much to miss in the bundle of old clothing.
For now, though, he sets out through the driving rain toward the Hokage's Tower, cloak pinned down around the stump of his left arm but still billowing wildly around him. He can't quite work out Tsunade's opinion of him, but he's fairly sure she'll be glad to have his disquieting presence out of the village, which means that his travel paperwork will probably still be waiting for him where it's supposed to be.
The one benefit of the weather is that he's not expecting to meet anyone on the way, all but a very few people staying firmly barricaded behind closed doors and windows.]

Even though it isn't easy to see in this downpour, his blond hair sticks out and from inside their houses people notice him. They all know who saved them not just once but twice so these days when they see him, they're asking for autographs. Having to use his left hand to do that is just difficult. One reason why he choose today to venture out - there wouldn't be a lot of other people around. Konoha isn't back to its former glory yet after Nagato and his army of undead flattened a good chunk of it but life still goes on. No one will be building today but he knows that not everyone will be staying inside.
It's just his luck that Tsunade-baachan wanted to see him today on all days. On the way in, it hadn't been this bad. He debates just running haphazardly through the streets but honestly, Naruto's already soaked down to the bone. Which is exactly why his slow pace brings his path across Sasuke's at this exact moment. Naruto stops in the middle of the street, close enough to be heard over the elements attempting to win against the pair of them, his gaze focuses in on the other.]
What are you doing?
[There's no accusation or suspicion in his voice, just curiosity. It isn't surprising to see the other out on a day like today. The streets are completely empty and a little storm would never bother Sasuke.]

Maybe that's why he's out in this weather, Sasuke thinks, mouth tightening: he'd expected Naruto to soak up the attention like a water-starved plant. Mostly, the idiot looks uncomfortable, and Sasuke doesn't understand why.
Whatever the reason, though, it puts a damper on his plans. Sasuke pauses just long enough to frown at Naruto, the momentum of his forward movement only slightly halted, before he lets go of a terse:]
Walking.
[And continues on his way. Maybe Naruto will get the hint and continue on his way.]
no subject
Funnily, he's more comfortable than he had be after saving the village after Nagato destroyed it. Even if Naruto is still uncomfortable with the sudden turn-around the people have done, he's trying his best to get used it.
Hint seen. Hint ignored. Rather than continue on his own way, he turns on the spot and starts walking next to Sasuke.]
Where to?
[It's going to take more than that to shake him.]
no subject
He's used to eyes on him, but Konoha is stifling after all these years. And there are good reasons, but -- he has his own, too, and Naruto does this thing where he understands and he still demands.
Out loud, Sasuke says:]
Wherever I want.
[The Hokage's Tower is rising up ahead of them now, which puts paid to the question a bit, but he doesn't bother to elaborate.]
no subject
Well, they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. Only Naruto could manage to do both of those things at the same time. Especially when it came to the surly remaining Uchiha.
Walking outside with Sasuke, even in this weather, he can practically feel all of the eyes on him. It takes a lot for him to not look into their windows back at them. He wishes he was better at pretending it doesn't matter.
Somehow, he isn't shocked when the old tower comes into view. Though Naruto is kind of getting annoyed with Sasuke's answers if his exasperated expression is anything to go by.]
You coulda just said you were going there, you know. [A slight pause.] Unless you didn't wanna tell me why you're going there.
[Now he trains his eyes on the other.]
no subject
It's childish, and maybe it's reverting to patterns of interaction that should be behind them, but the village is changed and not-changed all at once and it presses in from every direction. Sasuke pauses just short of the entrance to the Tower, watching the guards at the front stiffen upon sighting him.
He turns on Naruto with as superior an expression as he can summon when he's drenched from head to toe by now.]
I don't have to tell you anything about why I do anything. Are you just going to follow me around all day?
no subject
Things don't change overnight, they might not even change in a couple of years but everyone in the village knew the things the remaining Uchiha has done. Both the good and bad things. Unfortunately, forgiveness and trust doesn't come back easily once they've been broken. It's probably the same for Sasuke.
When the other stops, so does he.]
If you had just told me what you were doing in the first place, I might not have followed you! [Those same guards are starting to look a little uneasy.] Maybe I will!
no subject
But followed he's been, and now he has jumpy guards and paperwork waiting. The thought of trying to complete travel papers with Naruto hovering over his shoulder is maybe the least pleasant one he's had since waking up today. He can only imagine the total lack of efficiency, the questions, and --
Yeah, no. He has no interest in doing this with Naruto around.]
You know where I was going now. There's no point following me.
[He folds his arms and makes no move to actually go into the Tower.]
no subject
Clearly this is suspicious. Which is why he now has to follow the Uchiha to find out what he's up to. There will be no escaping him even if it means they're going to stand around in the rain all day long. Enjoy the defiant glare right back at'cha.
Goodbye privacy.]
Now I wanna know what you're doing. You don't want to tell me about it so that means I have to know.
[Nope, not moving.]
no subject
The glare he directs at Naruto is darker.]
You're dumber than I ever thought possible. If I don't want to tell you, then you don't have to know.
[Which leaves them at a standstill, here, with the rain still pouring down and getting into his eyes, forcing him to angrily blink raindrops out of his vision. The only consolation is that Naruto is probably getting at least as soaked as he is.]
