[Sorry, Coulson, but this lecture is really boring. Clint's just slumped over and is basically snuggling into you.

He's even snoring lightly. Have fun.]

[Lucky for you, Clint, that Phil is tolerant. Understanding, even. He knows Barton goes for days at a time without sleep, forced to in the field, watching for the next target.

This meeting is really boring, so Phil will shift only slightly, to get Clint off a bony point in his shoulder, and onto something softer.

But there will be a gentle elbow to the ribs. No snoring, Clint, if you want to stay asleep.]

[There's a slight snort at that elbow, and the archer frowns slightly as something in his dream changes because of it.

There's silence for a good five minutes before he starts up again, but quieter.]

[superbabysitter]

[Phil leans over, keeping his voice low, close to Clint's ear.]

You get another five minutes. I'm not staying in here after the meeting like this.

[Tiredness. It was a killer. Clint had catnapped during the mission. Now on the way back to the temporary base he lets himself drift off, without a seatbelt on and lolls over with his head coming to rest against Phils chest.]

[Phil rolls his eyes good naturedly, shifting slightly in the back of the transport so that Clint's head fell in his lap instead of against his chest.

He rarely tolerated this sort of contact while still on assignment, but he knew the archer didn't get much sleep; it was fine for now.]

[Clint stirs the moment that there is car honking go on outside.]

Wh'ts going on?

[He's prepared to shrug off the sleep instantly. He can keep going if is required.]

Just go back to sleep, Barton.

[Phil slid a hand into the other's hair, keeping his tone cool and detached.]

[redheadpepper]

[Phil, you are good people. Pepper knows this for a fact, so she's totally comfortable falling asleep next to you. And when the airplane hits a bit of turbulence, well. Her head may be dropping to your shoulder.]

[Phil smiles, shifting slightly so that she isn't on the pointiest part of his shoulder, then. Glancing over at her, he notices the way her neck is craned, and gently tries to shift her back into a better, more upright position.

Unlike Tony, Pepper never made him want to go fire off fifty rounds on the training range. She's a good woman; more than Stark deserved. But perhaps that was why she was best for him.]

[redheadpepper]

[And Pepper would probably argue that she doesn't like being put on a pedestal, and Tony is a pretty good guy, too.

But she's sleeping right now. When she wakes, she'll have to remember to ask about why the cellist moved to Portland, because that is clearly more important than the Earth being in danger.]

[superbabysitter]

[Shifting slightly, he pulled a piece of hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.]

Pepper, we'll be landing soon.

[It's a quiet voice, even; the same he uses when he's in the ear of his agents. Something to work on the subconscious.]

[She snores.

Loudly.

Very, very loudly.]

[Phil sighs, casually nudging her with his foot. If it doesn't work, he'll nudge a bit harder.]

[There are a fair few jet engines that make less noise than this girl.

And nudging does absolutely nothing.]

[Well. That is what earplugs are for. Which he promptly fishes out of his pocket and places in his ears, before resting a hand against her hair, gently.]

[The ride back to SHIELD headquarters was long and exhausting and well. Loki had just been beat into the ground by the Hulk. Surely it isn't so surprising Loki falls alseep? Anyone would be tired out by that. Especially since he'd been dozing off, head jerking back every time he jolts back to reality.

Except, well. His head kind of finds its way to Coulson's shoulder. Whoops.

...Surely he's actually asleep and not just faking it, right?]

[superbabysitter]

[Phil shouldn't even be here, technically. He's more than a bit annoyed about a few things, and while it doesn't show on his exterior...he isn't really one to be cuddled with, right now.

Letting out a breath, he elbows Loki in the ribs.]

Wake up.

Loki gives a soft snore and will actually cuddle even further.]

[You are a right bastard, Loki.

Phil, long suffering, stiffens, but doesn't shove Loki away more. Why can't Thor be here, instead? He seems to like cuddling.]

[There are a lot of things Clint has come to expect from Agent Coulson. Being polite is one thing. Being a patient voice of reason during tense missions is another.

Falling asleep on him is not one of those things, but this one--this mission--has been hell. Squatting in an abandoned building, cut off from command, on the run, and freezing. Coulson had taken first watch, his insistance, and Clint had the second.

He kept an eye out, and only tensed just slightly when Coulson's head had fallen to lay against his shoulder.]

[Phil was exhausted; it may have only been a two hour break of sleeping, but he couldn't help it; the position wasn't the best, and it was natural to slide towards the closest, warmest thing. And the wall? Certainly wasn't it.

Letting out a soft breath, he shifted closer, slightly. Feel free to wake him, Clint. He'd be quiet embarrassed about this if he knew.]

[Wake him? And risk a grumpy and irritated handler? No thanks.

Plus, stuff like this is good for blackmail later on.

And--maybe a little cute.]

[Phil is never cute; at least not on purpose.

His suit is getting wrinkled, now, as he shifts again, closer to Barton; a faint twitching under the surface, though, still remains. It's instilled in him that if necessary, he'll have to wake up quickly, and be ready to fight.

It never goes away, even in exhaustion.]
