Malcolm Reynolds | Firefly | OTA
One and two?
And that particular day, she just really needed to speak to him. It wasn't about just wanting to talk to him, even if maybe she did want to just a little, it was about something in particular. If Jayne didn't give her and her clientelle the privacy they needed, she was seriously going to consider leaving Serenity once and for all. So yes, the day had much to do with privacy, or the lack thereof. For when she walked into his room without knocking, she was not expecting to see what she saw.
"Mal, there's a matter of importance I wish to discuss with you and no, it cannot wait. It's about Jay..." That was where she trailed off, just as she saw a half-naked captain changing in his room. To say she was stunned was an understatement, and yes, she might have been staying just a little too much in her shock.

Life for the crew of Serenity does indeed suck at times. It sucks more than it ought to, but Mal won't have it any other way. He ain't in the business to get rich.
Mal shuffles about on cold metal floor in his bare feet, with his mind on ways to look for work. While they won't get rich, finding something to eat besides protein bars. It is when the doors slide open; Mal loses his train of thought. He's quick to try, and grab hold of his shirt but not quickly enough. With a look of surprise on his face, Mal coughs and he does his best to gain his composure.
"Don't you people ever knock?!" He shouts, but then it is when he realizes whom it is that he relaxes. "what?! I thought you were used to seeing men in various stages of undress. So if it's important go on and let it out." Mal feels terribly awkward about having any of his crew catch him like this. And it shows as he begins to blush, and he reaches for a shirt.

Clearing her throat, she tried to bring back her usual airs of confidence and an overall relaxed demeanor. "I've seen you wearing far less than this, Mal. Trust me, it's nothing I can't handle," she smirked just a little, but her feathers were still ruffled. "Would you like to put on a shirt, or should I go on? I would hate to make our business relationship seem inappropriate, Captain."

"No, no, no. If it was important enough for you to come barging in my room without giving me the benefit of knowing you're coming, I'd hate for you have to wasted your time." He still looks annoyed, but he looks willing to hear what it is she wants to tell him. And he darn well hopes that it will be something of the utmost importance.” I mean, you've got important things to be doin', and I ain't about to keep you from them."
