THE BATHING MEME

Scrub-a-dub-dub, this meme is ridiculous. No, really. This is a meme about taking a bath. Silly.

- Characters bathe. Or other things involving a bath. Whatever, dudes. Anything goes!

1. Bubble Bath: Here, the characters are sharing a humongous bubble bath with all the froth they can handle. The scent is delicious, the water is warm—go on, enjoy yourselves!
2. Shower: Perhaps not as fun as a bubble bath, but hey, at least it's built to accommodate two. Don’t slip!
3. Hot Tub: A whirlpool of warmth and—mm. Don't mind me. I'll just be sinking in.
4. Hot Springs: An outdoors bath is good, too, right? Or maybe this is part of a hotel. Either way, it sure is steamy.
5. Decadent Bath: There could be bubbles here, or maybe just those wonderful smelling oils and salts. Awwww, yeah. This bath probably cost a small fortune, so you should enjoy it while it lasts.
6. Lake: In case the hot springs weren't rugged enough for you, here's an actual lake, complete with waterfall for all your rinsing pleasures.
7. Other: Bathe in a shoebox for all I care!

When the lights went out at 9pm, Rin had been staring out the window. The darkened room made it much easier to see the moon gleaming on the water. It was really pretty, he thought, and he couldn't tear his eyes from the lake's calm surface. He wanted to swim in it. Maybe he'd dream it. Rin laid down and shut his eyes, but every passing moment only made it more obvious that sleep wouldn't come. He shuddered with excitement at the thought of diving in, he could see his hands dipping under the surface.

Rin sat up, squinting around the room where all of the boys slept. He had to swim in it. Not alone, of course. The boy's imagination had carried him to the lake, but there had been someone at his side. Someone splashing next to him in the moonlight. Sousuke. Rin moved to the boy's bed as quietly as he could and leaned his head close to his friend's. It was difficult to whisper with excitement twisting in his stomach. "Sousuke. Are you awake? Hey-!" Rin reached forward to nudge his Sousuke's shoulder impatiently.

Sousuke was not, in fact, awake. So when Rin came pattering up to him and nudged his shoulder, his immediate reaction was to groan and turn over, yanking the blankets further up over his head. He hadn't gotten a bed by the window, he hadn't been staring outside, and he certainly hadn't gotten any silly ideas about going for a late night swim. He just wanted to sleep. 9pm was late, and they'd been playing all day, and would be the next, so he wasn't planning on causing any mischief.

And then Rin popped up.

And tried to whisper at him, and nudged him, and despite flopping over, he really was curious about what he wanted, but he had to at least try to get him to go back to bed. There was a little less accountability that way, at least.

"Go to bed, Rin."

Prodding Sousuke's shoulder had been met with disappointing results. Rin assumed that Sousuke would be happy to see him, but the boy only turned over with a grumpy tone to his voice. What was his problem? His friend's reaction told Rin that the boy hadn't been thinking about the lake at all. Like somehow the water not being in a pool made it unswimable.

He'd show Sousuke just how wrong that was.

But first he had to get him out of bed.

Rin pressed his hands to Sousuke's back, burying his fingers into the blanket, and shook his friend. "No...! I can't." He struggled to whisper, his first word of reply coming out far louder than he'd intended. "Get up, let's go!"

He would have been happy to see him, if he hadn't been sleeping. But he had been, and no, not at all thinking about the lake. They were going to get to swim in it sooner or later anyway, so there wasn't a rush... but apparently there actually was, because before he knew it, Rin was grabbing him and shaking him and making it really, really hard to ignore him.

So he sat up, and looked at Rin as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Go where?"

Even if Sousuke wasn't excited about the lake itself, he should have known they were going to do something fun from the excitement etched into Rin's face. The redhead was a little offended that Sousuke seemed preoccupied making it overly obvious how sleepy he was.

Rin clicked his tongue before replying. "The lake!" Whoops. Maybe that had been a bit too loud. The boy leaned closer to Sousuke, face inches from his friend's. "We're going swimming. You don't need your suit, since it'll be just us." Just the two of them and the moon hanging, shining bright in the sky and over the water and on their shoulders.

Rin stared at Sousuke expectantly, waiting for some sort of dawning realization followed by excitement that could mirror his own.

He was preoccupied with making it obvious how sleepy he was because he actually was sleepy, and actually had been woken up, and that really shouldn't have been a novel idea, but there they were.

"The lake?" He leaned back as Rin leaned in, eyebrows knitting together in mild confusion. "Right now?"

So there wasn't any dawning realization, nor was there any excitement or him leaping out of bed to run off to the lake. That would probably all hit him once they were there, with the rush of adrenaline from breaking the rules, to getting to swim with his friend out in the cool moonlit water.

"Yes right now!" A whine was audible in Rin's voice as he tugged at Sousuke's blanket. He hadn't let go of it when his friend had finally sat up. A few urgent tugs weren't enough, so Rin tossed the fabric back, hoping Sousuke would get cold and just give up on sleep for now.

They had to go quickly, there was no time for being tired. If they lingered too much longer, someone might come in to check on them. Rin would get shooed back to bed, and Sousuke would just go back to sleep. Of course that wouldn't have stopped Rin from getting up again, but it would alert the adults and make it much harder to sneak out. As they were, they could probably just wander out a back door.

If Sousuke still remained in bed, Rin would grab his wrist and pull with every intent to yank his friend out of bed if he didn't comply.

"Whyyyy right now?" Rin's whine was returned with one of Sousuke's own, tugging back on his blanket until Rin tossed aside completely, leaving him uncovered and cold and quickly giving up on sleep.

He almost hoped that someone would come check on them so he would have an excuse to go back to bed, but then he knew he would never hear the end of it from Rin in the morning. And for the rest of the time they were at camp. And once they got home.

So even with Rin's pulling and yanking, he swung his legs over the edge of the bed and hopped out of it. "Okay, fine, I'm coming."
