The letter arrives for Lady Alexia Maccon well after everyone has settled in and gotten back into some sort of routine after Egypt. Alexia will recognize the small, tidy hand as her husband's former Beta's. It begins with all the customary greetings, etc, before Lyall gets to the actual things he wanted to ask about:
I hope Egypt was enlightening. I do hope you plan to share the pertinent details. My network is unfortunately much reduced, here in Scotland, and I have only heard the vaguest of rumors.
May I also ask, how is Biffy doing with his new position? Settling in well enough with Lord Maccon, I hope?
The weather here is quite dreary, but I find myself comfortable enough with the Kingair pack at present. There was a bit of uncertainty whether the rest of them would leave me to actually do my duties, at first, but they all seem to have resigned themselves to me.
