Sometimes all you need is a word to spark off an idea.

1. Post a comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences you may have (no shipping, no smut, etc.)

2. Leave the comment blank or post a word or two in the body.

It may also help if you list scenarios you would like to play.

3. Reply to other people, either with words you picked out, or words they posted as prompts for a thread.

With all of the bad things that have happened to and around Elena for the past couple of years, there's always been at least one good thing there and that was her friendship with Caroline. It's hard to remember sometimes, in the middle of everything falling apart and they've been at odds with one another. But no matter what they might say or do that hurts or bothers the other, they find a way to push past it.

Sometimes though, Elena can't help but think that Caroline has been a much better friend to Elena than Elena has been to her. She knows that Caroline would never say it, but there's been plenty of times when Elena wasn't there for her the way she should have been or when she pushed Caroline aside.

But tonight, she's determined to make up for it. Tonight is just for the two of them. Whether Caroline wants to talk about what's been going on, they could. But if she's not in the mood to talk and would rather just be distracted for a night where they could just pretend to be normal with nothing else going on but another Friday night to burn, that's okay, too.

Armed with snacks and movies they both like, Elena thinks she's ready.

Caroline would agree that Caroline has been a much better friend to Elena than Elena has been to Caroline, but that's simply because Caroline is a fabulous BFF and everyone wishes they were Elena for that very reason. Jokes aside, however, she knows how complicated their lives can be. And while she doesn't agree with all of Elena's choices, particularly where a certain smarmy vampire who shall not be named is concerned, Caroline can't say she hasn't made her share of bad choices too.

(Damon is worse, but who's actually keeping score?)

Petty girl grudges are not the point of tonight, however. Tonight, Caroline just wants a little bit of normalcy. She wants to watch terrible rom coms with her best friend and pretend the world isn't falling down around them, even if it's only for a few hours. If they find things to talk about in the interim, so be it, but for right now, all she really cares about are Chris Evans' abs.

She opens the door to Elena with a smile, before gesturing for her to come in. "My mom's working late tonight, so we've got the place to ourselves. I think she heard it was a girls' night and decided to bail for the sake of her sanity."
