You're a strong person, perhaps physically, perhaps mentally, perhaps both. You're brave. A steel rod of a backbone means you face your enemies with little hesitation, doing the job no one else wants to do. That kind of intestinal fortitude is commendable. You have a purpose. You have a mission. There is something about you that people want.
And you have a weakness.
Maybe nobody knows it or maybe everyone knows it, but your weakness is the person you're in love with. Yes, in love. Someone like you can be in love, whether you've admitted it to yourself or not...or to them. More than anything, you want to be with them and keep them safe from harm. Sometimes, you just can't. It's more dangerous around you than with you.
Whether you're together or not, you should hope that no one with an axe to grind with you knows that this person is your blind spot...
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character, preferences, whether you're open to smut or no, etc.
- Be sure to mention if you'd prefer to play the one with the weakness or the "weak spot."
- Reply to others.
- Use the RNG or not.
PROMPTS ship
- First Meeting: You've never met a person who's caught your interest quite like this; you may not know how to respond to these unique feelings.
- With Them Before It Happened: They came first. The situation that drove you to your "destiny" occurred later. You can't just throw away that old life.
- Unexpected Savior: You were down and out. They found you and nursed them back to health. You feel indebted to them..and more.
- Normalcy is Abnormal: You would never take things like dinner, picnics, dancing, or the movies for granted. Some people can't have that, after all.
- Missed Date: Of course, you have to bail out on dates occasionally. Duty calls.
- Shown Love: Who could ever care for someone like you? They can. They show you selfless affection
- Bad Apple: You’re rotten through and through - except for your genuine love for them.
- Light of My Life: Everything in this world seems terrible except for them, you’re beautiful, shining light. For them, you can live.
- Something There: Before, you were cruel to them, or they to you, yet now both of you see past that blustery beast (even if one of you was, say, a prisoner);
- Keepings Tabs: You have to know that your most important person is safe, or else you just can’t think straight.
- Stay Away: For their own protection, they have to keep away from a dangerous person like you. So no matter if you love them of they love you, you have to break up with them for their safety.
- Happened Before: The person you loved before got hurt because of you and you swore you would never love again. Still, you’re feeling that way once more, letting those walls down, and the old patterns are repeating themselves over and over.
- Important: You’re a king, a lord, a president, a top assassin. People would love to get close to you - or take you out - if they could find the right path in.
- Bodyguard: Your mission is the one you love (though you didn’t start out loving them), and the one thing keeping you from keeping them perfectly safe is also them.
- Berserk Button: From minor slight to major injury, no one hurts your lover without retribution.
- Left in the Dark: They don’t know what kind of life you truly lead. How long can you keep that double life a secret?
- Became This for Them: What you are now is all out of your adoration for them. You’ll do anything to keep them safe, even if it means becoming a monster.
- Not Accepted: You’ve finally revealed what you are in all actuality to them and the reaction was not positive. They’re repulsed by you or by what you’ve done.
- Dynamic Duo: They’ve accepted everything about you, including your mission. In fact, they want to help you fulfill your purpose.
- Family: You two have started a family together, so there's even more to lose.
- Blackmail: Some sinister somebody is holding the happiness, safety, or wellbeing of your loved one above your head to make you serve them.
- Hate Me: It’s not enough to leave them. You have to ensure their safety by making them despise you and never search you out.
- Destroy: You know that they could be your undoing, so you'll take them out yourself. You refuse to be weak.
- Kidnapped: Your weakness has been spotted and picked at, quite literally. Now, the person you care for is in the clutches of someone who wants nothing more than to see you destroyed.
- Bad End:
Is it in bad taste to want to name this prompt after a certain comic book character? The worst of your fears has come to past. Your beloved is dying in your arms because of their relationship with you and you weren't able to save them in time. - Placed in Your Life: The one you thought you loved and trusted was only a mole all along. They were placed in order to get you to make certain decisions and never really cared for you.
- Happy Ending: You've made it to a safe enough place in your life for you and your love to be stable and settle down.
smut
- Reluctant: You don't want to hurt your partner during intimacy, which is a distinct possibility.
- Solace: There's only one place where you find comfort about what your true nature is, and that's in their arms.
- Manipulation: There's one way to worm into your heart and onto your good side; they know it, and they can make you squirm. That's not always a good thing.

But he knew exactly that it had been one month since he last saw her in her actual time line. The Doctor couldn't bring himself to see her, not when all his emotions had run him ragged and he went to the end of time to save her just a few days ago for him.
He sat quietly out on a bench in the late afternoon, outside a school, as if admiring the day and watching the students walk out laughing with each other. Honestly, he wasn't sure why he was there waiting.
no subject
Which meant she was happily surprised to see the Doctor across the street from Coal Hill School. She'd gone out a different way from the students, her bike jacket over her red dress and ready to head home for the day. She glanced both ways across the street before crossing over to the parked Time Lord, coming to a stop once she was behind the bench.
"Hey there, stranger."
no subject
Dropping his hand, he blinks a moment and his face falls slightly, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for all that I put you through." He was surprised she even approached him here, but also very much relieved. Something told him he needed to come back and see her, as much as his brain protested. There was a large inhale and exhale before sitting his back against the bench.
no subject
"It's what you do." Clara stated simply. "You pop out but you always turn back up. I'm sort of used to it now." Which also meant he shouldn't bother apologizing. Though, he should probably definitely explain from time to time.
His next statement made her eyebrows bunch together in confusion. Clara picked at her fingers as she walked around the bench and sat down beside him. It took just a quick second for her to work out what was going on and she raised her finger at him.
"No, no. Don't start that." The statement was firm but she said it in a gentle tone. "You didn't put me through anything. Got it? I made the choices I did because I made them. Me, just me. You have got absolutely nothing to apologize for."
She paused.
"Except for maybe not phoning more often."
no subject
Standing up, he stuffs his hands in his trouser pockets, "I suppose you're not too busy?"
It wasn't a day that had ticked by where he hadn't thought about her, concerned that everything had changed. It wasn't a secret of being nervous to see her again, and unsure of how she might've felt towards him.
no subject
Clara nodded to the school. "Schools out, so I'm open for the evening."
The month without him did help her settle everything back in her head. Sometimes she had dreams about different lives in different places. It took a few days to sort it all, but Clara had never blamed any of it on him. Things were a little different now for her. She knew him and understood him. If anything she was worried that he wouldn't want anything to do with her.
She pushed herself up and wrapped one of her arms around his. "Where are we going?"
no subject
Funny how much time had passed for her. He wondered what all she had been up to during this time, though he did sincerely hope things had moved on. The Doctor was at least pleased to know she wasn't bitter or angry at him.
"I bet you're a good teacher." He assumed she was one. "The kids probably love you."
no subject
"Bit unlike you, isn't it? Not to really have a destination in mind."
Clara thought about what to do. She always figured things on Earth were too mundane and boring for someone who could travel anywhere. Except she had learned that he did truly love Earth, so, maybe that was what he needed to see a bit of. There was no vocal suggestion to their current situation. Clara chose simply to start walking and see where their feet led them.
"Oh, I dunno about that. Most days I don't think they actually listen to anything i say." She sighed. "I guess Marcus Aurelius is probably a bit old for them. At least most of them turn in their homework."
She glanced down briefly before looking back up at him. "Are you going to tell me what's bothering you?"
Normally he avoided answering the question - which she had learned to phrase different ways - but what harm could it do to ask him now?
no subject
He neglected to ever tell her that he had a feeling his time was coming up soon, something was telling him that, but he couldn't exactly place it.
"Christmas is coming soon." He offer her a shrug.
no subject
"Don't remind me." Clara groaned. "I've got to host Christmas this year. Father, aunt and grandmum. My aunt loves to remind me how much of a child she really thinks I am. Christmas is basically a rugby sport waiting to happen every year."
She shook her head though. "I've been fine. Things settled back in place after a bit." With dreams attached to it all. "Been more worried about you though."
no subject
Shaking his head, "I'm fine, Clara, really." There's a small smile growing on his face as his shoulders relax and he strides in a steady pace, "I'm better than that, really."
no subject
"If you like it that much, maybe I'll invite you over for dinner." she said and smiled when he did. "Good. You shouldn't look so sad all the time."
She squeezed his arm gently as they walked. There were several ideas that were going through her head on what to do. Dinner? Might be a bit too domestic and date-y for him. A night at her flat would be boring as well (and possibly intimate). A trip to the TARDIS, but that could lead to another night of running for their lives. They needed the exact opposite of that.
As she thought she leaned her head against his arm.
no subject
As he crossed the street changed the direction they were going, he gave her hand a squeeze as she rested her head against his arm. She's forgiven me, he smiled without a word, relieved that there wasn't any anger for all the atrocities he had put her through, well knowing the scars were still marring her skin and there wasn't anything he could do to rid them for her.
no subject
There was no intention at all of bringing up the fact it seemed like a date. It fit them really. They were an odd sort of close that others would see as boyfriend and girlfriend. Clara was fine without labeling it. It made it simpler really.
She would also say that there was no need to forgive him. Not after they both found out what happened and why it had. He had made his choices, yes, but those situations for those choices had been created for him to fall into. She just hoped what she did had been enough to help negate it.
Always so sneaky, Clara took the chance to grab his hand in hers and held onto it.
tl;dr
He accepted he was a reject from the days at Academy, but thought with time, that'd change. Only the rest of the universe deemed him fit to atone for the sins of his people. They didn't focus on or even care that the high counsel was far more corrupt than anyone had imagined. Romana tried to change that, but even her words couldn't persuade the others.
Arriving, the Doctor held the door for her to pass on through and was glad to be seated in a lone booth towards the back.
<33
Then she looked at the Doctor. It was easy to miss the sad look in his eyes if one wasn't looking. Clara had thought she helped turn that look around, but it seemed like she only succeeded in only making it worse. It made her dart her eyes down for a moment and toy with the menu on the table before she worked up the brave to look back at him.
"You can ask me anything, you know." She said and smiled at him. "Especially if it is anything about what happened."
He had to be curious. Didn't he? Maybe not in the sense of being thrilled or learning something new, but, she had been in and out of his timeline like a leaf on the wind. Clara saw things and knew things that she shouldn't have known. Didn't he want to know what she saw or what she learned about him?
ugh Clara. Y U SO PRETTY?!
"I'm sorry." His tone was flat, but if she looked up, she'd see his eyes upon her. He couldn't decide if it was resilience, a stubborn streak, or pity that kept her cheerful around him. Normally, he'd like to think she rather fancied his company, but there was a nagging feeling about it.
"I'm sorry it was all confusing." And if he could, he'd place a kiss to her forehead and make it all go away. He had toyed with the idea, actually, to block her memories like had Donna and live with the guilt of what he had done entirely alone. To live our his days until the four knocks come to lead him to his regeneration.
And yet he couldn't. There was something stopping from doing that, and perhaps it's those curious eyes that meet his in return. He couldn't fathom the idea of her looking at him and not knowing who he was.
BECAUSE SHE JUST IS. also tl;dr I am sorry.
She shook her head just a bit. "You don't need to be sorry. I told you. All of it was my choice."
She liked to think anyone would actually make that same choice, but she knew that most people wouldn't. Death was absolutely terrifying. Even after all those countless lives and versions of her had come to an end.
Clara put her hands in her lap and leaned forward a bit. "The only thing that is a bit confusing is the order they're all in. It got jumbled up somewhere along the way."
Obviously meaning his different faces and looks, but they were in a public place. She didn't want to just say weird things where everyone could hear. Clara also intended to keep the scary details to herself. He was already worried enough as it was.
"Is it ... I dunno, weird, for you? To travel with someone who knows you. I mean actually knows you." Clara bit her lip and hoped that the answer was going to be 'No.'
never be tl;dr sorry
At her next statement, he grows quiet, almost thoughtful as he sits back, taking a deep inhale, "I suppose it's strange, yeah, but... not a bad thing, necessarily." Funny how he thought Rose knew everything about him until he met Professor Song and now poor Clara. But it brought them closer, he thought, and not in a bad or uncomfortable way. It was... nice.
I am only sorry about how often you get it! :(
"Not a bad thing... right. Okay, good. Brilliant." She quickly grabbed the glass of water and looked down at the liquid as she drank.
Over the last few weeks she had run every possibility of this conversation she could think of in her mind. For some reason she never thought he'd just calmly accept it and move with the flow. It made her feel silly and just down right embarrassed.
gimme gimme gimme!
Popping another chip in his mouth, he looks thoughtful for a moment, "I have -- had -- alot of secrets. There's plenty of things I don't think you should know about my past." Mostly because it wasn't necessarily the things he was most proud of, especially the Time War, "But my behavior, my insanity, was no excuse. I didn't even know myself for a long while, and you can argue that it wasn't my fault, but," There's a shrug, "I've made peace with it, I think."
/DUMPS IT ALL ON YOU
Despite what she did know, Clara had no idea what was directly waiting ahead for this version of the Doctor. She didn't know about the knocks or the songs or anything. She - her echoes - were focused on saving him at their particular moments, and saving him from the Silence's influences. She couldn't really save him from the finality of 'the end.' Even though she would definitely fight tooth and nail to do so.
Her eyes fixed on her hands that planted on the table. "You made your choices but they were influenced by what they were doing. I saw all those time windows and the things they were setting up through them."
At this point she was forcing her fingers not to fidget nervously. He didn't need to know just how unsure she was about the whole topic as she really thought it would go completely different direction. Namely with her talking more than him, because that usually how it was when it came down to the serious feelings and things like that.
How could she tell him all the things she knew if he wasn't interested in hearing it? Clara had seen the face that not even he wanted to admit was there. She'd seen parts of the Time War, but couldn't enter it. There was his granddaughter and countless adventures through it all. She'd been a governess in Victorian London, converted into a Dalek, and countless different women through out time and space. Her intention wasn't to learn anything about him but to help guide him. Which, apparently, she did manage to do somewhat.
She forced herself to look back up at him. "Is there anything you want to know about anything at all?" Herself included. "I guess I'm not really that much of an impossible girl anymore... now that we know why."
/gathers the FEELS
He was no hero. A doctor's oath is to do no harm. His own personal oath was to never be cruel or cowardly. He had let himself down to that oath more than he was willing to admit to, and just when he reached the point of where he was confident he couldn't redeem himself, she stayed by his side.
That meant something to him, though he couldn't think of how to put that in words.
/oh you just asked for more though
She could of given him a long winded answer. One that talked about how he always did his best to be good, and that was what mattered. It would explain how he was her hero and the lives he had saved even if there were ones he was able to. He came back to save her when he didn't have to. Or, the fact that no matter how many people came and went through the TARDIS doors he was still lonely. All of those little factors did add up into the reason why she stayed, but there was a far better way of saying it all.
Clara stood from her seat and walked over, sitting on the edge of his side of the booth. She reached up and put both of her hands over his and waited until his eyes locked onto hers.
"I don't walk out on people I care about." She smiled at him. Care wasn't the right word and she knew it. Though he might turn and run away if she used the right word. "And I know you. Those things aren't things you would do, even if you had been traveling on your own for a long time. Do I really need anymore reasons then those?"
no subject
He hoped she didn't regret her actions, and as much as she reassures him she doesn't, the regret still lingers there.
"There's many things I wouldn't have done, but I did." He commented quietly as he wrapped an arm casually around her and steals a chip with his free hand. "But I can't change them."
Perhaps he's calm about everything due to know his fate.
