Rocket | GotG/MCU
[ rocket and peter as medieval-fantasy RPG characters archetypes. ]
and it was formal invitation, a dinner to celebrate their selflessness in saving the people of xandar. a bonus was getting to get all dressed up in the local gear (gifts, apparently, not that peter was intending to just wear it out of there anyway, no), which peter was taking full advantage of. ]
Check this out--
[ he starts, pulling a sword out of a sheath with a sharp noise, the scabbard clattering against the armor at his side and legs. ]
Badass, right?

Despite the unshakable cynical front, he actually is pretty impressed by Asgard. They've managed to make Quill look halfway respectable, for one thing, which is an impressive feat all by itself. And hey, maybe it doesn't hurt that he got given a set of armor right along with the others. It fits and everything. In a silvery shade that sets off his fur very nicely, no less]
We get to keep this gear, right? [He draws the dagger he's been given - a sword wouldn't work, for obvious reasons - and examines it with interest. He's always preferred guns to knives, but he recognizes a quality weapon when he sees it]
[cherry and rocket going to an event that requires formal attire.]
I feel ridiculous.
[The words come mumbled through the closed door as Cherry just stares at herself in the mirror that hung over the bathroom counter. Delicate fingers drifted to the back of her dress to zip the black fabric closed the rest of the way before she picked up the silver necklace on the counter.
Could she even move? The answer was yes but, it felt like it was slowly squeezing the life out of her. Maybe it was too form fitting? She couldn't run off to the store and change dresses now, she was stuck with it.]
If we have to run, I'm screwed.
[With a sigh she opens the doors and steps out, looking along the floor for her heels.]

[And that's without the tie, which is still dangling reluctantly from his hand. He gives it a long, dubious look and entertains the idea of 'losing' it. He can totally get away with not wearing it, right? He can work the whole slightly-disheveled roguish look. His hair's headed that way anyway.
He sighs]
It's for a good cause. Right?
[And by 'good cause' he means getting in good with people who've got way more money than sense, and hopefully having the opportunity to case the joint while they're there. That's worth looking like idiots for a night. Especially if the intel about just how much the gear is worth is accurate]

[While he could easily pull off the slightly-disheveled roguish look, she wasn't sure this sort of event would be the place to show it off. With a small sigh she moves over to him and yanks the dangling fabric from his hand.
She slips it around the collar and proceeds to tie it.]
Faster we get in, the fast we are out and these clothes can hit the trash.
[As long as they could avoid conversation they should do just fine. Though, going in acting like a couple might pose a thread for too many questions.
His tie is soon secure, she makes sure it's not terribly tight since he's already having a problem with the collar.]
Can you grab my shoes?
Re: Rocket | GotG/MCU
Rocket and Gamora meet during the zombie apocalypse. Gamora needs Rocket's help.
Gamora and Rocket got handcuffed together and lost the key.
Rocket is under a terrible curse. Gamora knows how to cure it. (or other way around, that would work too)
Gamora accidentally drinks a love potion and falls for Rocket. (...just for sheer crack and what the fuckery.) ]]

How about we keep it canon for now, and veer off into weird AU territory (as we always do) later. Handcuffed together? Which I assume for them means "hastily escaping lawful custody"]
that sounds about right, yep.
But not before they put them in cuffs. One pair, because that was all the officer that apprehended them had on him. The problem with this quickly becomes apparent as they let themselves out of the officer's vehicle, and Gamora has to list to the side to avoid leaving both their arms at a painful angle, and one that would make it easy to grab one of them as they go.
She crouches next to him for the moment -- there's better cover here anyway, less chance of being seen, but they're not going to get away very fast if she has to move this way. She frowns down at their hands for a moment, considering the make of the cuffs and the chances of getting them off quickly enough, before offering the obvious solution.]
I'll have to carry you.
story of their lives
Fine. Lemme-- hold still.
[It's a little awkward, but he manages to scramble up her back and onto her shoulder, claws biting into the thick leather of her jacket. Not the best solution, but it's better than the lopsided half-crouched run they'd been managing before]

If you fall off, I'm not stopping for you to get back up.
[That's all the warning he's going to get, before she takes advantage of the momentary clearing in front of them, springing up from her crouch to a standing position and breaking into a run almost in the same moment, heading for the next piece of cover she can see, a little farther from the fray.
One small benefit of him being up there -- he's close enough that she doesn't have to shout too loudly to be heard, even over the sounds of fighting and air rushing by them.] Do you see them?
[There had been a plan to rendezvous on the ship, but with all this, who knows if the ship still is where it's supposed to be? It wouldn't be the first time they'd had to move it unexpectedly.]

It's a position he's taken up on Groot's shoulder a thousand times, and though she's a lot skinnier and less solid, it's not so hard to find his balance. He knows when to hold still, when and where to shift his weight, when he can get away with bracing his legs and half-standing for a better look at what's behind them. It works]
Three of 'em, about a hundred yards back. Looks like-- yeah, looks like a couple more broke left and right. Think they're tryin' to flank us.
