The 'We're Stranded' Meme
You’re stranded it’s as simple as that. Maybe you were on your way to a nice relaxing holiday, a business trip or maybe you were just on your way home. Whatever the case, it doesn’t look like you’re going to be reaching your destination any time soon. You’re stuck and all you can do is to try and survive until help arrives. If help ever does arrive. Well, at least you’re not alone. No, there’s someone here stranded with you. Maybe you know them, maybe they’re a complete stranger or maybe they were stranded here long before you. Whoever they are you’re going to have to work together to get out of this mess.
What you do to survive and what happens to you is up to you. Do you search for food, do you try and find any signs of human life, do you have a run in with the locals or the local wildlife or do you just close your eyes and hope someone finds you. Whatever happens good luck.
RULES
- Comment with your character, canon, preferences and any ideas you might have
- It might be useful to note whether you want the interaction to be between two strangers or if you’re okay with any assumed cr
- Feel free to set up your own scenario in your initial comment to give taggers something to work with or just leave your comment blank
- Pick a scenario that catches your eye or use trusty old RNG
- Reply to others!
WHERE ARE YOU STRANDED?
- On an island – You’re stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. There’s no phone or radio signal and there are no signs of life (that you can see). It could be a huge island with a dense forest in the center or it could be a small, sandy island with sparse vegetation cover. It’s up to you.
- In the jungle – One minute you’re making your way along a jungle trail and the next minute you’re completely lost. You have no idea where you are, you have no idea which way to go and all you can see around you is trees and more trees. Have fun in the jungle. Look out for the wildlife and any local tribes
- In space – The sci-fi option. For some reason you were in space. Maybe you’re inside a ship stranded in the middle of nowhere or stranded in the middle of some kind of asteroid field. Or maybe you were outside of your space shuttle and now you’re stranded with no way to return. Let’s hope your oxygen supply doesn’t run out
- Open Water – Maybe you were simply out for a swim and the current was too strong, pulling you out to sea. Maybe you were diving and after resurfacing you’ve realized you have absolutely no idea which way is land and your boat is nowhere to be seen. Or maybe it’s a Titanic-type situation and your ship has sunk. Better get your life jacket ready.
- High in the air – Maybe you’re trapped in a ski lift high above the ground just like the movie Frozen. Maybe you were on a roller-coaster or a Ferris wheel and the rides malfunctioned. Or maybe you’re just stuck at the top of a really, really high mountain or cliff. Whatever the situation you better not be afraid of heights!
- Inside an elevator - This one is pretty self-explanatory. You were in an elevator, the elevator stopped and now you’re stranded inside the small space, probably with a bunch of people you don’t know until help arrives.
- A cave – Maybe you had planned to explore the cave system or maybe it was a spontaneous event but you went inside and now you’re stranded with no way out.
- The middle of nowhere – This can cover any landscape really: a mountainous area, a desert, the middle of the countryside, a tundra area. Whatever the landscape there’s no signs of human life anywhere. You’re stranded.
- Wild Card! – Don’t like any of the options given? Come up with your own scenario!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
- Searching for food/supplies!
- Setting up a camp/shelter from the rain
- Coming into contact with (possibly dangerous) locals/local wildlife
- Calling for help
- Trying to find a place with better signal
- Just generally freaking out
- Trying to come up with a plan
- An obligatory smut option
- Wild Card! – There are so many options and so many things you could do in this situation. Use your imagination!

once, in 1960 - during training - he was dropped into a land a lot like this. He struggled and nearly starved (or so he thought) but that was before he knew he was a super soldier and could survive things like this.
Mostly because he rarely eats these days.
Side effects.
He's watching Steve however as the wind blows, tucked into a parka amid the freezing tundra. Just...watching him. seeing Steve here is wrong.]
no subject
It was afterwards that Steve started running into trouble. He had arranged for a pickup but the pickup hadn't shown up. His phone stopped working. Rather than staying in the burned out husk of a Hydra base, he'd started walking in the direction of the nearest town instead, wrapping his arms around himself as he marched as a cold wind began to pick up.]

Freezing even. Something twists in his gut. There's no need to be quiet persay, the man's senses aren't nearly as prepared to deal with this kind of atmosphere...right?
The soldier watches, keeping a good distance of ten to twenty feet as the wind continues to howl. He followed him.
The man on the bridge had followed him. Lending credence to the truth. that the soldier had found inside the bunker.
He had another name. A name this man knew.
...If he survived the snow he'd be sure to ask him.
One carelessly placed foot however might mean that Steve can hear footprints.]
no subject
It doesn't mean his likes it though, he's never liked the cold and its' gotten worse since he went into the ice.
He frowned as his ears picked up a footstep. Then another. The shield is unslung from his back and held up in a defensive position. If it was HYDRA, they should have attacked already.]
Who's there?
no subject
It's the second dune. He might have been seen cresting the second dune like a ghost, a grim figure before he slides down the embankment.]
no subject
There's only one person he could think of that would be here, would act this way.
The rumour may not be a rumour after all.]
Bucky!

no subject
Bucky knew the local terrain, he didn't.
He reached the cottage, his clothes soaked with wet snow, and hesitated for a moment before pounding on the door.]
Hello? Bucky?
no subject
Ominous right? What's not ominous is the man, sans gloves and mask but still clad in a thick parka with his hands in front of the roaring fire staring at the wood, into nothing. Into the void. Other then that though the cabin's pretty nice. There's a large comfortable looking sofa, wood, signs of a struggle in the kitchen, knives and trash scattered across the floor.
He won't respond until Steve's a good two or three feet away. Then he'll draw his gun and point it directly at Steve's forehead.
without looking at him.]
no subject
He kind of regrets that when Bucky points a gun at him when he gets too close.]
Okay...you don't want me close. That's fine, Bucky. Will you look at me at least?
no subject
Close the door.
no subject
[Steve moves slowly, making sure that every move can be clearly seen and closed the door firmly shut. He scans the room once before turning his attention back to Bucky.]
no subject
There's no food here.
no subject
I didn't come after you because I was hungry, Bucky.
no subject
Just the men with the file of his past. He glares into the smoke and doesn't say anything, turning his back subtly to him]
no subject
He'd hoped... Actually, he didn't know what he hoped for. For everything to go back the way it was before the war? It was impossible.
For Bucky to come home with him? He didn't have a home himself.]
I wanted to see how you were. And let you know that if you...need anything, or want to know anything about your past, you can come to me.
[He took to steps back, towards the door.]
no subject
He tosses it in Steve's direction spraying photos of ...horrific torture across the floor.
Silence. Silence for a good fifteen minutes then]
...that's what they did.
no subject
I'm sorry.
What do you want me to say? Or do? [He doesn't blame Bucky for going after Hydra, not after what they've done to him. He himself has been going after Hydra when there was an opportunity and info to do it.]
no subject
He tugs at his head, curling in on himself for a moment before he looks back at Steve.
He doesn't know.]
no subject
I'm sorry. I don't know what to do either.
no subject
And move, grimly - to sit closer before looking back at Steve.]
sit on the couch.
no subject
[Again he makes sure that every movement is telegraphed before he does it. The shield he leans against his knees, close at hand.]
no subject
I had to know.
[He had to know for himself he explains.]
I had to know for myself. You couldn't have told me.
no subject
I...I understand. Did knowing make it better? [He cringed inwardly at the word 'better' but he didn't know what other word to use.]
no subject
...I needed to be able to read my name.
From people I despise.
