Just this once, your life is a soap opera. It doesn't matter how it came to this, but you have a secret you must reveal. Is it something serious you just couldn't get your character to say otherwise? Or do you just want to insert some good ol' soap opera cliffhanger into your roleplay? ("I've never told you this before, but I have an evil twin who's in a coma. And has amnesia. AND PREGNANT.")

Just because the ones you met were unkind doesn't mean we're all that way. [Unkind, no, but not entirely the most polite demon ever, either. To be fair though, he's getting rather tired of people assuming demons are mean or evil.]
