(revamped) CAUGHT IN THE RAIN
CAUGHT IN THE RAIN MEME
![]() |
It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm with an endless downpour. Time to quickly find cover! Nothing much to do but to wait it out. Where is the rain happening? How are you coping? Why are you out when it hits? RULES • Leave a comment with your character's name and fandom. • RNG for a number between 1-10 to get your scenario. Mix and match! • Have fun! |
SCENARIOS i WHERE: 001 PLAYGROUND | Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun? 002 PARK | Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you. 003 STORE FRONT | Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of. 004 BEACH | Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm. 005 FOREST | Mud, bugs and all the rambler's paths are washed away so you don't know how to get out. 006 SKY | On a plane? A pegasus? You were there when the first drop fell. 007 EMPTY CITY | Maybe it was a zombie apocalypse or WW3. It's safer outside when all the nasties take refuge indoors. 008 AT SEA | Nothing is worse than an unexpected freak storm here. Kinda boring. But it works. 003 NEWSPAPER | Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck. 004 SHIRT | Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do. 005 MAGIC | Wave that wand or chant a spell. 006 CARDBOARD | Out of a dumpster. Nice. 007 LEAVES | Not under a tree: just one really huge leaf. 008 CAVE | Not very deep, but it keeps off the worst. 009 NONE | You don't need cover, screw convention. 010 WILD CARD | Your call. iii WHY: 001 REJECTED | Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain. 002 WAITING | For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for. 003 MELANCHOLY | Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain. 004 HAPPINESS | Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain. 005 ANGER | WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO, RAIN. 006 ACCEPTANCE | You had to be here anyway, it wasn't a choice. 007 SCIENCE | Everyone else is inside but you've got work to do. 008 ACCIDENTAL | Lost track of time? Forgot your coat? Oops. Now you look like a wet rat. 009 KISSING | They kissed you. How are you supposed to leave them alone out here after that? 010 WILD CARD | Your call. 7/3/8 - i hope this is okay?
However, just when she was about to corner the beast by literally popping in front of it, she was instead sent to an abandoned city in the middle of nowhere. A lifeless city as the surrounding area was currently dark except for the street lamps. Wherever, Souko glanced to there was literally no one in sight. No trace of any human scent. The demon's earlier energy was nowhere to be found. Then again, the heavy rain was currently blocking her hearing and smelling capabilities, so she couldn't do anything about it.
Offering a short sigh, Souko will turn to her side as she pulls out the newspaper her master had asked to pick up after taking care of her earlier mission. It would seem that now it'll be used for a replacement for an umbrella instead.]
...hmmm. I suppose buying another one wouldn't be out of the question. She would understand...
[Once it was decided on her plan of action in buying another copy later, she decided to return her attention to her current predicament. She'll have to find a clue on her current location if she ever wished to return home. Teleporting wouldn't be any trouble, but before she can do so she needs to know her exact location or else she'll be thrown to another random area.]
I wonder if there is anyone I could ask for directions? [As she looks around, she will begin to run through the rain while holding the newspaper over her head. It won't be long until she begins to hide under any kind of roof or shelter to avoid the rain. If she found an area that had doors or believed she found a figure in the distance through the rain, she will begin to increase her voice's volume and say:] Good evening! I deeply apologize in bothering you, but...I am looking for directions. May I be as forward to do so? [All asked with a very polite smile just in case they found her suspicious as she couldn't understand the reason the city seemed so lifeless and empty.]
certainly! Sorry for the wait :)
Yes, they were different. Keep up!
He eventually pockets the sonic before glancing up at the sky. He moves the bangs from his face as the rain continues to come down. Bah! A little rain never hurt him. Unless it was that acid rain from that one planet. Then, yes it hurt, and Clara scolded him for not wearing something more protective.
However! This was not Wednesday, therefore Clara was not at his heels outside of the TARDIS. He wasn't really sure what day of the week it was. Different planets had different days and dates. Funny how that went.
He reached own and picked up one of the newspapers, thumbing through it as best as he could considering the rain. Then a voice. The Doctor raised his head, whipping around in the direction it came. ]
Yes, hello! Sorry. I'm not sure what sort of directions I can give. There's not much here to see. Or do, really. Haven't you noticed how everything is just... empty?
it's fine, it's fine. no worries.
I suppose it is. There is no one to be found in the streets or any of the shops available here, but... [A more thoughtful tilt of her head will be offered.] Can we be entirely certain its truly as empty as it seems? [After all, she found herself in this city while she was chasing after a demon, so...
Well, it doesn't matter at the moment. She'll worry about that later. For now, she'll return her attention to the odd fellow.]
How does the rain feel today, sir? Somehow, I can imagine you being the type to dance and sing in the rain as a way to occupy your time if you haven't found anything worthwhile to do. [Then again, it was all just so strange in finding someone who wasn't from the same town after she found her way to the same town by mistake.] ...if I may ask, sir, how did you find your way to this city? [She'll place a hand over her chest, then offer a curt bow of her head.] I apologize for my inquiry as I feel...you aren't a local of this exact city. [Now her expression seemed more apologetic even if she was smiling at him. Hopefully his own appearance to this city wasn't her doing.]
I am a bit canon blind, but I always seeing new faces/rp partners. :)
Alright, no, maybe not. But! It would be cool if she could. ]
On the surface? Yes. Can't find any life signatures. That doesn't mean everyone isn't underground though. Which is a bit odd. [ He holds his hand up to catch the rain in it. ] The rain is completely normal here. No acid or any sort of odd bacteria. Just normal heavy rain. Not even a bit salty! So! Then why would everyone be underground? Why is the whole place empty?
[ He has been rambling on and then he realizes that she's gone and asked him questions. He's got a terrible habit of doing that. ]
What if I do dance and sing in the rain? Maybe I was friends with Gene Kelly. He might of shown me a few moves. [ He sways his hips back and forth in a little dance. ] Oh, you know. I just popped in for a stroll. Just sort of wandered in. I tend to do that. Actually, you could say I am a bit of a tourist.
that's really great. i've been wanting to voicetest her and throw her into adventures.
But for now, she'll simply listen to the other man ramble on for a moment as she wishes to get a better understanding of him. He's unique, was all she could really describe him as. If he weren't human than she could imagine him fitting right in with the group individuals that currently live and work with her. That's why she'll offer him an applause by his little dance maneuver.]
As expected of someone as one of the kind as you! It's a great honor to meet someone who was friends with the charismatic and handsome actor of the golden age of cinema. I greatly enjoy watching all the films he stars in. It's a shame he died so long ago...
[Just as she was having fun interacting with the other gentlemen, her senses will pick up suspicious movement close by. The feeling was more than enough to have her stop clapping and begin to feel both thoughtful and concern for the man before her. She can't have him get involved or unnecessarily endanger his life. Her superiors and colleagues will be upset with her if they ever found out about it. However, that was the least of her problems, her main concern was for the gentlemen before her. She'll need to find a safe place for him before she decides to fight a demon (which she didn't expect to find so quickly).]
It's surprising to find such a distinguish tourist exploring this particular city. You aren't some kind of Hollywood or movie industry executive, correct? [She'll be slowly dropping the newspaper she was holding earlier to the ground as she just as slowly walk up to the man before her under the rain. Her gaze will be on the form of a demon watching over them by a nearby building, hanging upside down.] Please, pardon me, but...may I cling onto your arm for a moment? I feel slightly lightheaded as I lost my precious glasses. [She'll be gently trying to turn the man in the opposite direction as she offers a light cough.] Could you please help me find them? I remember I last had them around that way. [She'll point towards the road in front of them with a weak smile.] I was too nervous to search for them on my own as they're the only pair I currently have. I deeply apologize for making such a bold request, but...I wouldn't do so unless they were absolutely important... [And there goes her smile and it transforms to genuine concern to reflect her words. Hopefully her act was more than enough to get him to get away from their current area while remain under the rain as the demon is unable to attack until they enter a shelter like the one she was in before.]
well then! toss her at me. i love having eleven meet new faces
Unique is certainly one way of putting it. ]
One of a kind, eh? What makes you think that? I'm just a bloke with a bowtie and a pocket watch.
[ Though this does make him curious. Two colored eyes is one thing, but someone who catches onto the Time Lord thing? That puts her in a whole different category. He gives her a sly, and yet kind, smile as he carefully listens to her suggestions. Oh, she is definitely interesting now. ]
Me? Nah. I hate paperwork! I've got a desk job that I haven't done since I was much, much younger. Funny how I've still got that job. [ It is amazing UNIT hasn't officially fired him. ] Huh--what? Uhm--is that--well--[ The Doctor gives a quick cough before glancing around. That is a quick turn of a conversation. ]
It isn't that bold. Trust me! I've had people ask me to marry them. Now that, that is a bold request.
will do, thanks! so far they seem to be getting along pretty well.
Even a bloke with a bowtie and pocket watch can be one of a kind as long as they feel as so. [She'll look up at the fellow and offer a kind smile.] Does anyone truly need a reason to be one of a kind though?
[The idea of being unique doesn't usually sit well with her for many reasons, but when it comes to others, then she believes everyone is unique and special in their own way. Although, she mostly prefers a simple life than an extraordinary one. Then again, even the simple life can become a little tiresome, so adventure is more than welcomed, she prefers it every once in a while too. As long as her master's life doesn't become endangered in the process, of course.]
Your superior sounds quite considerate with you if it were the case. How fortunate! [Even so, she will try to hold back a giggle as she picks up the pace of their current stroll as she can now feel the mud beneath her feet, indicating the demon was currently following them and close by. Good thing her attention was on the situation as she missed the mention of marriage. Instead in offering a reaction of any kind over the subject, she'll cling onto the other man's arm a little more tightly as she decides to pull him close enough, so she could whisper the following in his ear once they took a turn down another street around the corner.]
Listen closely and carefully as I have....a warning to offer you. [Give her a second to think about the best way to inform him without having him yell in surprise or stop walking all together. They have only a little time before the creature can hear them once more.] However, I need you to make me a promise before I do so. [Turning her head for a moment, she could no longer sense nor see the figure of the water demon behind them, so she will take the time to say it now.] ...are you a screamer by any chance? Are you the superstitious type? [And.] Are you easily terrified of the unknown?
i think it is pretty hard to not get along with eleven!
[ The Doctor then chuckles, clapping his hands together and rubbing them a bit. He leans in close then, lowering his voice to answer her question as if they were a secret. ]
Terrified of the unknown? No, no. Well, yes. Sometimes! We're all afraid sometimes. However, I am more curious as to the creature that is following us. The one that has you a little bit worried. The one that led you here. [ He smiles then, proud of himself for that little reveal. ] So, how about you tell me what is going on here, eh?
no subject
[Okay, enough of her playing around. Time to return to the mud and demon and possible danger in having him in this particular town. After all, she was trying to get him out of the city before the creature behind them realize there is someone in their area and begins to attack at random. But when she heard the words the man by her side expressed, her own expression will turn emotionless as she was....actually caught off guard? Wow. It'll take time for her to look at him as....she wasn't entirely certain on the best way to react to his big reveal. At all. Truth be told, the best reaction she could offer was: an excited little smile finding her way to her lips. She would laugh, but it wasn't the best time to do so. Not now. Later.]
Fascinating is definitely the best way to describe you as. And since you've helped me move a great deal of dialogue along, I suppose introducing you to our dear friend behind us would be an excellent prize for you. [And off to the explanation she goes which will begin with her pointing to the shadow behind them.] This lovely lady is known as Nure-Onna. A demon with the body of a snake, head of a woman, and are usually known as the type of demon that washes their beautiful long hair by using their rain technique. They have a great fascination with it. This one in particular has been targeting women with equally beautiful hair during the evening hours. There has been...a few bodies found back in the city I reside in. [A solemn expression will appear as she admits it, but her smile will soon return.] Clearly I'm here to put a stop it, but I suppose you knew that bit of information as well.
[And since she no longer has to protect this man, she'll release her grip on his arm, then reveal a katana
that came from hammer spacein its place. She'll point the weapon towards the foe behind them. The demon's rattle will be heard as she has finally pinpoint their location after remaining in their spot for too long.]...it might be for the best for you to find shelter, sir. I gave you enough information over the matter and now she knows we're both here. [She will get in a more defensive pose, almost awaiting for the fight to begin.] She won't allow us to leave until I've taken care of her. [But. She really needs to stop saying that word.] ...go and find if there are any survivors hiding within the city while I do so. I would greatly appreciate it... [More like, she didn't want him to leave the city and was using it as an excuse to keep him around at this point.]
no subject
Engrossing! I do like that one. Yes. Engrossing! Good word that one is, engrossing. Though I am bit fascinating too. Oh! How about "mysterious"? I've always liked to been known as mysterious. Like one of those magicians on the telly.
[ Oh the tone change in her is immediately noticeable. He stands up straight with a more than pleased smile on his face. Though it quickly leaves as he glances at the shadow behind them. He's heard of Nure-Onna. Just a different name in a different time and place. Which usually is how his life turns out to be. Always in the wrong place in the wrong time.
The city she resides in? So then where is she from, he wonders. ]
Or you were at least tracking it for someone else. [ He steps to the side, eyes wide at the katana that literally comes out of no where! Oh, pocket dimensions, eh? Very, very clever. She's got him a bit more interested now. ] You plan on killing her. Don't you?
also, i feel bad for tl;dring at you. i hope all of this doesn't scare you. orz
Turning her attention to the man by her side, she will break her gaze battle with the wild snake women and offer him an extremely gentle smile.]
Just like a book. I suppose you like those, correct? [After all she usually saves that word for a good book or story or even assume stories about an individual.] As you wish. I'll begin to refer to you as the engrossing, fascinating, and mysterious magician-san. If the title is too long, then we'll brainstorm a great magician alias to your liking...
[That is, if she wins this battle. She knew there was a chance she won't survive. A very high probability, actually. The reason she asked him to leave and search for survivors wasn't to keep him from seeing her kill the creature before her, but a completely different reason that would have made the battle extremely easy if he had obeyed. Somehow, she's glad he didn't as the fight might become interesting and take unexpected turns.]
As for your inquiry over the fate of this...young woman... [Her smile will turn quite impish as she finally announces before moving away from the man before her as the demon has finally decided to make the first strike by moving ahead and try to scratch Souko by the side in a swift and sharp manner that would have easily sliced her chest if she had not caught on to it.] That will be one check out of three, Magician-san.
[Gaining her footing, she will move just as quickly with her katana at hand, heading towards the demon and wishing to rip her tail apart, but the creature just as easily evaded the attack by making a quick turn as she tried to strike Souko with her sharp claws the second time which will have the younger girl dropping to the ground, just a mere centimeters from a direct hit, but she'll hit the ground a little harder as the demon decided to use a basic air maneuver to her earlier strike which did hit her. Souko will quickly get onto her back and place her weapon above her to stop a direct slam from the tail. Even with the tail having been blocked by her katana, the hit was still painful enough as she was lying on cement, but it didn't seem she showed any signs of pain as she was holding the tail back except for her voice wavering a bit and turning deeper than intented.]
...f-for future reference, Magician-san, every time you make an incorrect assumption you'll receive a check. Every time you receive three checks, you'll be given a...oh, hold that thought for one moment. [It would seem the demon finally made her first mistake by lifting the tail up for another slam, giving Souko enough time to quickly roll out of the way after throwing her katana away, of course. The wind after effect of the attack will be used to give Souko an added speed to her roll. Souko will watch as the demon continues to bash the street, leaving a hole behind after the third slam was given.] A penalty. You'll be receiving one.
[And right after she gives the warning, Souko will offer a high pitch whistle to catch the Nure-Onna's attention. Which worked as it'll offer a hiss sound while a slit tongue appears. Souko will simply offer a kind smile her way.]
Oh, dear. You're beginning to grow irritated with me, hm?
[The creature will simply continue to hiss and thrash its tail to the holed cement street. Without another word, the falling rain will finally seize which will leave Souko without changing her expression as she expected the creature to do exactly that. Now the Nure-Onna was no longer blind and knew where Souko's exact position was now, leaving her to take a more defensive position, trying to make herself as small as possible, almost as thought she were a boxer ready for a fight. She'll even begin to move side to side as she does so awaiting for the creature to make the next move while keeping her sight on the gentlemen and katana which was....rather close to him, behind the creature. But for now, Souko will not hold any expectations as she makes the first strike by moving at full, inhumanely, speed and begins to offer one strike after another, not offering the Nure-Onna any move to breath, which it'll equally dodge, defend against, or remain still with its webbed and clawed arms crossed over its head and chest especially when it realizes the attacks were moving at quick and random successions.]
not at all! i love the tl;dr. apologies for being so slow!
[ Unless you're him and you've seen how it ends. ]
Magician-san? Well, that's new.
[ He reaches out to stop her, but his hand falls just short as she gets out of his reach. His wet floppy bangs stick to his face as those green eyes of his dart around, taking in far more information than any humans could in a split second. He saw all the ways out and all the ways in--not to mention opposite routes to find a way to knock the young woman out. The one they were talking about, not the one he was talking to!
Then he puffs. ]
A penalty? Blimey, you'd think I was a child again. I am over twelve hundred years you know! [ Actually he is much older than that.
Except he notices the rain stop and that is when he makes his move. The Doctor slips into the house through an open door, quietly making his way up the levels. As quiet as he can be anyways. Other incarnations were far, far more quiet than this bumbling giraffe. He slides to the window, feet hitting the wall as he opens said window.
Out pops the sonic and the Doctor leans out the opening. With a flick the prongs open and emit a high pitched screaming sensation. Just to make this Nure-Onna a bit more confused. ]
i'm glad to hear it. once they're done fighting, i'm sure the tl;dr will go down and no worries.
...even when one knows our final fate, there is still a possibility to change it.
[It was all said in a low tone of voice once she heard the Magician leave the area as she continue to attack the monster to allow her thoughts and emotions to get out of her system now. Her attacks hitting harder, but slowing in pace. She knew it was dangerous to remain in her current state as she needs to have a clear mind more than ever. The demon will continue to remain in its usual defensive position with its arms crossed. She knew it was growing accustomed to her attacks, and if she stops attacking now, then she'll have enough time to summon her weapon before her and finally stab her foe. The end result should have the demon evaporating to wherever they hide to to regain their energy. Just when she was about to place her plan into action, her earlier companion will appear out of a window accompanied by a low screaming sensation which Souko's fox ears (which unconsciously appeared on top of her head) will pick up on; however it didn't seem she was the only one -- the Nure-Onna before her has begun to unfold its arms and move rapidly while offering a painful growl.
Souko quickly jumped out of the way, dodging her quick movement, and will quickly step back from the demon before her. It wasn't long until her eyes open wide as she notices two interesting features: the face that was covered by the creatures hair and feral expression was now changing to a more human one while a mark began to appear in the young demon's chest. Souko's hand will find its way to her lips as she realizes...]
...his curse is still active...even after he... [Left to return to her past incarnation's timeline. Souko will look down filled with guilt as she laments over the position the Atavist was in. She now understood the situation. It was all her fault. If it hadn't been for her past failure in properly defeating Inugami twenty three years ago, and for not having realized who Inugami was all due to her obsession in trying to win over her master's feelings from her previous incarnation, then the entire situation would have been avoided.]
Magician-san! [She'll turn to the man behind the sound as she says as loudly as she could. Right now, she really didn't have the luxury to fall into guilt over the situation.] Are you able to turn your weapon at full power!? [And without giving him the luxury of arguing or speaking in return, she will turn to her weapon and take slow steps towards it.] If you can do it, don't ponder over the reason unless...you want this young girl to die by my own hands!! [A sad smile will appear.] I will remove the second penalty if you knock her unconscious with your device... [She'll continue to move closer to her weapon as she decided not to offer any further explanation over the reason he received a second penalty in such a short time.]
oh if you get him going on feelings, he'll just be tl;dr. you're welcome to message this account too
The Doctor quietly watches the scene from the window, debating his next move very carefully. He isn't quite equipped to fight this creature and his new found friend is. He knows very little of what is going on other than that look of guilt that passes over Souko's face. Oh. He knows that look so very, very well. It is one he often wears himself when he thinks back at all the lives of his companions that he has touched and consequently has messed up. His thoughts though are disrupted as he notices Souko calling out to him. ]
I thought you would never ask! And it isn't a weapon! [ He pops open the bottom of the sonic screwdriver, amplifying the waves. He is well aware of the sonic heating up and the fact he is going to need to fix some parts after all this is done. Hopefully he won't need the sonic beyond this little encounter here. ] What? Hang on! Second penalty?! When did I get a second penalty?
eleven is very big on relationships, huh? and okay, i might just do that.
The person before her was truly an intriguing individual. Somehow, she can easily tell he was different from other humans, he acted almost exactly as her species did. There was just something about him. He was the first person to follow along her line of thought without asking her to slow down or to be more precise as there weren't many who understood her. She was absolutely certain those that live in the mansion would like him very much. It's a shame he found himself in such a critical moment or else she would invite him home. With his age -- if he was telling the truth over the matter -- she is certain he could tell his master and the others all types of stories. It was clear even she was curious over the matter which is rare for someone who has no expectations or interest in anything.]
Oh, then I apologize for the mistake. May you please use your special wand, Wizard-san? [Yes, she did just change her nickname for him because that weapon in his hands looked like a electronic wand to her. And once he amplified the sound, Souko will watch the demon continue to agonize in pain until it could no longer take the noise any longer and fell onto its side. Waving her hand, Souko will cause her weapon to disappear into a swirl of cherry blossoms petals before heading her way to the poor Atavist. She will kneel to the ground, place the girl's head on top of her lap, and place a dagger by her neck as a precaution. The demon appearance will begin to regress to that of a human girl, but she won't change entirely neither as her snake tail and webbed claws were still visible. Souko had decided to use the girl's long hair to cover her chest from the Doctor's sight.] Good work, Wizard-san! She's still breathing. Thank goodness...
[Once she was absolutely certain it was safe to turn her attention away from the girl on her lap, Souko's attention will return to the Doctor as she offers him a too innocent smile his way along with black and white sparkles surrounding her.] A penalty? What second penalty are you speaking of? I'm afraid I do not follow. [Sorry, Doctor, she is a woman of her word and will keep her lips sealed over the matter now.]
he's pretty much very big on feeling old and lonely and loving people yes!
Inviting him home, eh? It would be nice to get out of the rain and he might even find himself exploring a few new things. There are all sorts of walks of life in the universe. That and new things are what he thrives for. Except, after so long, without someone to share it with? It has gotten a tad boring.
Oh, honey. You've got no idea how different the Doctor is. ]
It isn't a wand either. Sonic screwdriver! And, I don' usually lend it out to people. [ He wags it at her general direction as if that'll properly help explain the rather complicated dynamic of a sonic device.
Though he closes the sonic and leans out the window to look at the now nic-ish looking girl. Obviously she isn't human. She is something else, but the worry over her well being does trump his curiousity for now. ]
Is she alright? [ Though before Souko can answer, he's rushing down the stairs and skidding into the wet streets. The Doctor bends down beside the girl to put his fingers on the side of her neck.
And all that joking conversation has gone to the side for now. ] She's just a child by the looks of it.
welp. they'll need that big heart to help her go thumbs up or down on this one.
Taking him home might be happen just as easily. Take him home and have her colleagues and other tenants begin to tactfully interrogate him and it won't be over the reason he is in the home, more like asking him over his relationship with her is and if he lost a bet or try to suggest for him to run from her. More the former than latter. Depending on the individual who asked. Hopefully.]
Unfortunately, she is. [Souko will turn her gaze to the young woman who was beginning to breath heavily, almost as thought she was in pain.] I would say around thirteen or fourteen. [The reason she looked bigger and older was due to her current transformation. Demon transformations usually age the individual far more quickly compare to their human appearance.] ...she'll be fine...it all depends on the strength of her will...
[Souko will use her free hand to touch the young girl's face realizing she was indeed hot. Picking up the strands of hair that was currently covering the mark on top of her chest, it would seem the mark was the source of the girl's pain as it was flickering as thought taking the role of her beating heart. She knew what it was and the effect it was having at the girl before her. She'll lean over to her and whisper into the girl's ear. It would seem she was asking for the young girl to awaken and not to be frighten as she was a friend now. A SS agent is how she'll introduce herself to the girl. Then she'll straighten herself up and ask in a louder tone of voice.]
...are you currently unconscious or pretending to be? [After a moment of silence, the young girl was simply shake her head side to side which will get a small, knowing smile out of Souko.] How unfortunate. I do suppose the unconscious girl won't mind if I slit her throat now, correct? [The small dagger will be places over the top of her neck. After all.] You mercilessly murdered the entire town and used your clan's influence to hide the truth from the public. And once you grew hungry once more, you began to hunt and murder other women in different cities ever since. Killing women of all types. There are children orphaned and families motherless now. I assume you do understand the rules of our "community" which does state the death penalty upon unnecessarily spilling innocent bloo--
[It won't be long until the girl opens her mouth and claims Souko is wrong. She didn't kill anyone, her demonic instincts did, it has nothing to do with her. The words alone will leave Souko smiling, calm, but it was clear her demeanor didn't feel the same -- it was growing impatient with her.] Is that so? Your other half which tried to kill me and my kind acquaintance has no connection to you, does that mean you reject your other half, Little Miss? [At that hint, the girl will shake her head again. She'll admit to not knowing what was going as she remembers the town having been filled with people before; she doesn't remember killing or fighting anyone except the glass shattering sound from before. At the comment, Souko will turn to the Doctor, her demeanor returning to her earlier friendly personality.]
Speaking of the noise, I do admit it did offer a rather unique sound, but I wouldn't describe it as glass shattering. Irritating, yes. [Then she'll turn to the girl.] He lend his item for you. A wonderful feat as he doesn't normally use it for just anyone. You're quite fortunate to have a complete stranger save your life...I feel a little envious. [The girl's attention will turn to the man that was mentioned with pleading eyes. "Please don't kill me. It isn't my fault. I didn't mean in having tried to kill you or all those people." Upon hearing those words, Souko's gaze will turn darker and more serious as the smile was finally gone.] ...now, now asking for mercy will be ineffective as your life has now been sentenced ever since you harmed the women from the other cities and hold the mark on your body. If I do not kill you now, then the higher ranking families will torture you until you can no longer take the pain or another individual will do the job I carelessly ignored. [And. There will be a light pause as Souko's expression changes to a softer one.] ...there is no cure for the mark on your body...you'll lose your humanity once more and return to your earlier killing spree from before. [Then the guilty expression will return as she bows her head.] ...I deeply apologize for my earlier tone and for...everything else. [There will be silence as the girl offers a nod and tears begin to fall down her cheek as a result. It was clear Souko was not the best in offering comforting words, but she will remove the tears before lightly touching the girl's cheek which will offer a respond of a webbed hand holding her hand.
It won't be long, however, that Souko turns to the other man before her with said shameful smile on her lips.] I apologize to you as well. For having allowed myself to speak to her the way I did in your presence, and unconsciously including you in all this as well. This entire situation isn't entirely her fault, as she said, but...I can't let her go neither. She'll spill blood once more the moment this mark [She'll point to the mark on the girl's chest once more.] disappears... [She was having a difficult time deciding on the proper way to do all of this now. The idea of killing before an innocent person was indeed difficult. Normally she felt no shame over these type of matters, but it felt different now. Most likely it is due to the fact she felt responsible for it more than anything else.]
it will end with him being quiet and avoiding everything ever 8(
And what is that supposed to mean? "The strength of her will."
[ Though his eyes instantly go back down to the girl they just subdued, those old eyes filled with worry and trying to figure out how to help. He could save planets and lives, but when it was something like this? He found that he was absolutely rubbish at anything.
The girl continues and the Doctor understands what is happening at once. She has a nature she can't control, most likely brought on by stress or puberty or anything that would cause a self defense mechanism to snap. That is responsible for the mess and everything that has happened, but the girl does not claim much responsibility for what happens. That leaves him worried. How can they expect to help her if she can't admit there might be a problem to her control of said self? ]
Oh, I make a horrible habit of helping people who need it. Especially the scared little ones. [ The Doctor gives her a generous smile, showing that he does truly mean to be earnest and helpful. ] Even more so the ones that cry when no one else thinks they are. [ Seeing the girl's timeline and the moments aren't too hard. They are just a tad jarring without the context. ]
[ Although saying the girl must be tortured or killed is where the Doctor draws the line. He sticks his hand out to grab Souko's. ]
Are you telling me there is nothing to help her control this? Everything is controllable to a degree. [ Except a Dalek or Cyberman, but the girl is neither of those. ] I don't like the idea of killing. Especially if an alternative can be found.
oh boy. can't let that happen. might as well treat this as a thumbs up case then.
...it all depends on the strength of her desire to keep her humanity...even when the curse, that is currently in her system, is bringing her great pain. [She'll take his hand and place it over the girl's wet forehead.] She has a high fever... [An extremely high one; so much so that the girl was having trouble breathing and keeping her eyes open.] She is as much as a human as any other human is... [Or better yet.] She is as much as an ordinary teenager as any other.
[The moment the other man spoke the word "alternative", Souko will close her eyes as she takes the time to think over the situation. Trying to remember the notes she had investigated for her acquaintance, Natsume, during the time she was no longer an SS agent due to her master ending the contract between them and the other tenants requesting for her to leave the premises as they believed she was a traitor. It was a period she does not wish to remember, but was forced to nonetheless. A small sigh will escape her lips as she decides to admit.]
Regarding this particular case, it has occurred once before -- humans losing their conscienceness and transforming into a pureblood demon who attacked people. [More like Atavists losing their humanity and transforming into their demon counterpart. An atavist is the official term describing children born from a mix species couple of human and demon. Souko would have said that word out loud, but...she didn't want to put her colleagues, the girl, and those living in the same apartment complex as her at risk. They were a secret society, after all.] There have been similiar cases occurring even before the previous century. [However.] ...even thought it has occur in more than one occasion, no one did a thorough investigation over the matter as the situation would only happen in such a short amount of time. And sometimes when they did find them, either the investigator would disappear or the target's body would be found. [It doesn't help that all atavists hold the ability to reincarnate. After reincarnation, they would lose all memory of their previous life, so it was difficult for their clans to do an investigation over the matter if the person in question had no memory about it.] Henceforth, the reason I said there is no cure or treatment for this...
[But. Even so. She couldn't simply take the young girl's life now that her companion does not wish for her to. Souko will close her eyes, feeling her chest begin to tighten as she realized more and more the consequences of her past actions. She, or rather, her previous incarnation, he, should have killed Inugami twenty-three years ago when he had the chance to do so. Hopefully her letters will reach the previous group, before their reincarnations, to stop history from repeating itself once more. But for now, she'll have to protect this "bonus" world, doesn't she?]
Very well. As you wish. We'll find an alternative. As long as this girl continues to fight with all of her strength, then I'll follow her example. [A small smile will form.] I was only asked to investigate and retrieve the target, never to neutralize them. [So she'll reach a hand out to the Doctor.] I have notes pertaining to this curse. All the information a single individual could ask for as I was once requested to investigate the curse on her body a few months ago. Would you like to see them? There could be a possibility that we may find the answer if we work together. [Then a thought.] Isn't there a saying speaking of the same mindset? [Because she feels there is and can't remember.]
uh oh! /forever late
Then we best get to work to find a way to break this fever of hers. After that, we'll have a nice cuppa and a long chat with her about what is going on. Might be scary, but it'll help her in the end.
[ The Doctor looks up at her once her hand has been stretched out. ]
I would very much like to see these notes of yours. Or any notes regarding any of this really. Usually what you lot consider demons are just something you've never seen before. We'll need to figure out if this is one of those cases or... something else.
welcome back! and no worries. C:
But right now, what was important was to help the child as best as she can for the other man's sake along as that girl's as well. Souko can't help offer a soft smile at the way he held her. That might be the first time for said child to be given so much care and attention over her well-being while viewing her as a simple child instead of a monster or deity of some kind, it was something her family would never have done...]
Then it's been decided! Breaking her fever will be our top priority after we both give ourselves a well deserved bath and change out of our wet clothes. [She'll wrap her arms around herself as she offers herself a light rub to give her some warmth.] After we do that simple task, then we'll begin our research while she rests.
[Once she had decided it was a good idea, Souko will simply lower her arms as she awaited for a call from a reliable source to offer them the last bit of information she needs to know -- the whereabouts of their current location. Which came just on time as her cellphone's ringtone began to ring indicating she had an incoming text message. Souko will take her phone -- out of hammer space again -- and look at said text messages realizing they were in a city known as Chiba in a small rural town by the bay.]
Ah! I now know where we are. It's time to go. If you do not have any items in need of picking up or any issues with leaving, then now would be the time to let me know before we find ourselves back to my apartment. [All smiles as she says it especially at that little comment over "you lot" which did irked her a bit. To be on the same level as the other families especially her own clan made her feel uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable as she...was trying not to act like them right now. The text message her friend offered summed it up: 'You're beginning to soften. Good work~']

Though he has to admit he is rather impressed that Souko recieves cell reception in this dead city. Apparently the power still works. That is something to take note of too. ]
Well, I do, but I can back track. She's rather used to that by now. [ Hopefully this time he won't be bringing "strays" home--except he totally will. ]

[She'll just guess he is talking about a car as most guys seemed to view their vehicles as such. Or at least, she did when she was male once upon a time ago.]
I promise she'll be well protected while we're away. You have my word as an SS that no harm will come to her.
[And once the promise was made, she'll head over to the Doctor's side and place a hand on his shoulder while her other will be on the girl. She'll begin to concentrate on their destination. But before they go, she'll simply say as a way to keep the man before her occupy while they teleport to their new location.]
Now I only hope you're not the type to react negatively to instant transportation. [Which they just went through in the blink of an eye from the dead city to the middle of an abnormally large spacious room with a large window showing the view of the city they were in. And for a large room, it was quite bare with very few items presented and it was all white. There was barely any decoration and no personal items anywhere in sight. It was clear they were at the very top of a large apartment building. Without a second thought of explaining they were in her apartment, Souko will head towards the other side of the room opening a door and beckoning the other man to come.] Quickly. This is where the bedroom is. [And.] Don't worry over her current state. She'll be perfectly fine. I greatly recommend for her to remain wet and without clothing until further notice.
[She'll open the door wide before deciding to head elsewhere, but before she disappears from sight.]
Oh! Before I forget, once you've placed her in the bed, there is a bathroom inside my room. [Well.] It's more a shower room. If you prefer taking a warm bath, then the private bath is over there. [Pointing to the other side of the apartment now.] There's a bar as well. Help yourself with anything you like. Don't worry about the giant window in that or any particular rooms as no one will be able to see you or anyone.
I'll get the equipment and medicine prepared for our guest... [She'll begin to count her fingers for this.] check and prepare the security system, contact a colleague of mine, make a last minute search on the net over this curse, get your clothing dried while find a replacement set for you, then prepare some tea for us, find the notes, and take a quick shower. [All said as thought there was seven other copies of her.] If there isn't anything else, I'll begin with the preparations. Call me if you need anything. [And without another word, she'll be heading to a random room at the other side of the apartment.]

Most people are rather impressed when they see the TARDIS. ]
Sorry. Your word as an SS doesn't mean too much when I've got no idea what that is. How about your word as a living being to another? [ His tone is rather serious about that as well. Even then he is walking after her with the girl in his arms. The Doctor is sure to be gentle when he walks into the apartment and not to hit the girl's head on the doorway. That would just defeat the point of it all. ]
I certainly hope you don't plan on splashing your bed with water. What about a water bed? That might help more. I do like a water bed. [ Rambling to fill the space as he eyes said space. Anything that just might give some information about Souko away. ]
Ah, nah I'll be fine! Didn't bring a change of clothes. [ He fices the bowtie with a grin. ] Not a big fan of wine or alcohol in general. The taste on the tongue is a bit... you know. Funny. Have you ever experienced that? But, oh. This is your house, isn't it? So you might as well go and shower and do... things.
