it's probably snowing somewhere

❄ it's quiet
and the snow's beautiful tonight → a winter open meme
snowfall;
stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white.
stage ii; very light and intermittent.
stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods.
stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall.
stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.
scenarios;
① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

Elsa l Disney's Frozen
stage iii ; 5
[ The Doctor bounds into the small cabin they've found up in the mountains. Leave it to the TARDIS to make a joke about stranding him and a Snow Queen in the snowy mountains! Ha!
Alright, well, it isn't entirely the TARDIS's fault. The town below has a bit of a scattering beam that sent her censors into spiral. As soon as he safely got them to land? WHAMO! The TARDIS leaves. Probably towards one of the poles. Which means that once the storm dies down they need to be on their way to that town to have a word or two with whoever is in charge. He doesn't like to be stranded without his time machine!
And, yes, the thought of asking if Elsa could control the storm has crossed his mine. He just figured it was a little rude to ask that of a queen who is struggling to gain all of her memories back. ]
This should do nicely for now. Yes? I think so. It ought to. A bit of a couch, a blanket, and maybe even some food! Probably not. It doesn't look like anyone has been here for a few weeks. Maybe more. [ He traces his hand along the wood table to look at the dust.
It has definitely been awhile. ]

[Of course, if she remembered more she could easily control this. Even stop it. But as of yet, Elsa isn't quite at that point. She can perhaps manage to try stave it off in another direction to keep the worst at bay, but even that drains her. It's both exhilarating and terrifying as she attempts to regain her memories and control of her powers, traveling with him to find some way to fix things again. She follows him, looking around as they enter the cabin. It's not her castle, but it's warmer than outside. Cozy. They'll be fine until this dies down. Which hopefully won't be too long.]
Perhaps the owner only comes here on holiday?
no subject
[ He claps his hands together and rubs them a few times. Then a spin in place puts him leaping up next to her and shrugging off his Victorian styled jacket. He drapes it on her shoulders with an awkward pat before going back to investigating the lodgings with his sonic. ]
You'd think this would be the best time for a holiday then. Unless they like coming here for the summer holidays. Bit odd though.
no subject
[But she simply gives him a wry smile, accepting the offer of his jacket as he drapes it over her shoulders, clutching it together at front of her chest as she watches him with the sonic.]
It was just a guess. Of course I have possibly less of an idea than you do. But for now, until this storm subsides, this place should suit us just fine. I suppose we should check the kitchen for supplies? And the bedrooms, unless we simply remain in the lounge with the fireplace.
[Elsa gestures and gives a nod to the central fireplace as they proceed farther from the entrance into the lounge area.]
no subject
[ Or a gentlealien. GentleTimeLord? No, those are rubbish. Never call him those. ]
Bedroom should be good. Not so sure on the food thing. Why? Are you hungry?
[ His head whirls up. How does one feed a Snow Queen? Like every other human, of course, but the Doctor is just being silly to ease the moment. ]
no subject
Assuming at least one of us can use the bedroom. If there's just the one bed, I'm sure the couch will suffice.
[It's not her castle, but nothing is in comparison. And even then, she mostly just knew her room in it. They have somewhere warm and sheltered and that is the important thing.]
I just figured if we aren't sure how long this might keep up? We'd want to ensure what supplies we do have, yes?
no subject
No need to worry about that. I don't need to sleep as much as you humans do. The bed is all yours!
[ The Time Lord strides right into the kitchen and starts looking through pantries. ]
Never really thought of supplies while I was out adventuring. I usually just go with the flow! Markets and the like. The TARDIS kitchen has plenty of food...
no subject
[She gives a nod, seeing no need to argue if he might be more comfortable on the couch or being up and about checking the weather outside while she might sleep. She is still readjusting to the idea that he isn't human. Doesn't necessarily need as much sleep or food.Elsa follows him into the kitchen, peering over his shoulder.]
Well, that is the TARDIS. This is not. So of course there won't be the same food items stocked here. We just have to make do with what we have, which might be a while depending on how long this lasts.

[ It really is touching how much his companions care about his health. Even if they are just short term companions. Although he does wonder how long he will need to keep running with Elsa. Not that he minds! It just worries him. How long will it take for her memories to return? How long can she keep up before refusing to go anywhere with him?
Then again, these days, he is always worried about companions leaving him.
He shakes himself from his thoughts to turn and look up at Elsa. ]
Have you ever had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?
no subject
[Which gets a raised eyebrow in curiosity from her. She approaches to check the pantry with him, looking at the jar of peanut butter curiously. Elsa knows of peanuts, perhaps. But not like this. This is strange and new to her, even if the concept of sandwiches are not.
Elsa is well aware he is worried for her, but she's not sure she can do much to reassure him as things stand. Not yet. They have time though, with his TARDIS to figure things out. And as things are right now, the only thing they can do is stay put until the storm subsides.]
I thought jelly was....like a dessert? Not something one would put on sandwiches.
no subject
[ He spins around then, a jar of jelly in one hand and peanut butter in the other. There is a big smile on his face. Now they've just got to find bread! Bread that isn't moldy. That one could be a bit hard to do.
The Doctor steps around her with a bit of a nod--still aware she is royalty--before strutting back into the main part of the kitchen. Why is this cottage so big? Blimey, a military must have been here! Or maybe just a brood of children. ]
You can use it as a dessert! Earth is a bit... well. You know.
no subject
[Hey, it's food. She can't really be picky in this sort of situation and she recognizes that. Even if she is apparently a Queen, this isn't the time to be fussy. She simply raises an eyebrow as he steps past her, shifting and checking the fridge and freezer to find some bread in there, stored for later when the family returned.]
It's frozen, but there's some bread here, Doctor. Though I'm still not sure what you mean by 'jelly' exactly. That looks more like....like jam?
[When he said 'jelly' Elsa obviously thought of the wobbly various coloured desert and ice cream rather than the more modern slang for it as the americans like to use. She eyes the jar when she passes him the bread and butter from the freezer and fridge.]
no subject
[ The Doctor will never understand how royalty stands to be--well. Royal!
He pulls the sonic out and flips it a few times in his hand. ]
I've got an anti-freeze setting on the sonic here. I'm not sure what that will do to bread though...
no subject
[And of course she wasn't really queen for too long before she encountered the Doctor and went with him in the TARDIS, so there's also that. And that she was incredibly sheltered as a child, which didn't help in exposing her to others from the different kingdoms. At best, she met the neighbouring ones, those closest to Arendelle and those they participated in trades with. She simply shrugs, though watching as he fiddles with the sonic.]
I'd say we could thaw it. Toast it? Surely the heat if we put some wood on the fire would do it?
no subject
[ He gives her a fond smile with that statement. He is ridiculous and silly, but the Doctor also does know when to be tender and to be serious. Being serious usually leads to darker things, so he tends to try and not be that. ]
Depends if this building has any power to it. Fire risks burning it, but, it can't hurt to try. [ He flips the sonic on and holds up his hand. ] Give me five minutes.
no subject
[It's the one sweet thing she likes for the most part. One she shares with Anna. Elsa considers for a moment. He's probably right. Easier to try it with the sonic first if only to lessen the risk of burning it. She'll give a nod and head back to the lounge to sort the firewood there, placing some in the fireplace to get it ready to light. They'll no doubt need it tonight.
But it isn't long before she heads back to check on his progress.]
How is it going? Did you find the right setting?
no subject
[ The fond smile stays on his face as he reaches up and taps her nose. Oh, bah if she is a queen. Elsa is his friend first. Which means he can get a tad sentimental around her. When the mood strikes him.
He then searches for the power box. He flips the side open, after undoing the lock and looks things over. Odd and a little worrisome. Not that he wants to make his companion worry. The Doctor frowns and scratches his chin. No replacement sparks and some switches for the circuits are gone completely.
Someone was in a rush and wanted to make sure this place would never see a lightbulb again.
There are a few possibilities in his mind as he turns to look at Elsa. ]
Someone's taken the parts needed to get power from point A to B in the place gone. [ He steps aside and gestures to where the holes and snapped switches. ] Which means that someone hand no intentions of coming back. Ever.
no subject
[Her nose scrunches up a little when he tapes it, her eyes closing briefly as he teases her. Elsa watches, not liking his expression as he checks over things, trusting he would know better about this sort of thing than her. It's enough to be piecing her memories back of home even as she is still gradually learning more about different worlds and times as it is.]
We can't find replacements? Or try make the parts ourselves? If there's no power I suppose it could be worse. Candles, the fireplace should do for heat and light at least.
[But yeah that is still. Concerning, to say the least. Just what happened here?]
no subject
[ The Doctor reaches up and scratches his chin in thought. ]
Replacements might be around here. Although some of these things are plain broken. Rerouting could work, but I might blow the whole thing. Candles! Yes, candles are brilliant. Start there, Elsa. I'll try to find out why our hosts wouldn't want to return.
[ He is far too curious for his own good. Because now this whole thing shouts adventure to him. ]
no subject
[Because he's giving that overly excited impression that reminds her of Anna. When he gets like this it's not always necessarily a good thing. A safe thing, rather. So she isn't entirely sure if it's safe to leave him alone. Especially if he ends up wandering outside in this exploration of his he now seems set on.]
no subject
[ He leans close and waves the sonic between them. ]
Everything is dangerous. That's part of the fun.
no subject
[But just right now, Elsa is more amused and curious to figure out what is going on than actually frightened. One hand reaches for his, briefly.]
I'll come help once I gather some candles. I'm sure there must be some in one of the cupboards in case of emergencies.
no subject
[ It still doesn't explain how she lost them to begin with. That is one of the reasons why he is keeping her close. They are traveling until he finds out why she hasn't got any memories. ]
Good thinking! Ha-ha, yes. Cupboards. How... quaint.
