You are now trapped somewhere and there's no immediate escape occurring. What now? I'd add more loving flavor text, but I figure we've all been there. We've all sat around wishing that we could just...leave, but we couldn't for some reason or another. So let's just cut to the chase.
- Comment with your character!
- Reply to other characters. You are now stuck somewhere. Where are you stuck? I don't know! Maybe it's some intangibl- I guess I'll just list out some possibilities.
1. In an elevator!
2. In an airport because your plane got delayed for three hours!
3. In traffic!
4. In a boat or some similar vehicle - a plane, an airship, a living island, a spaceship - in which getting out means that you'll probably die.
5. In some obligation like a boring party, a class, or a meeting, and your only hope for some scant entertainment is some clandestine texting or someone being cooler than they first appear.
6. Or something else. - And have fun.
Charles Xavier/Professor X | XMFC/DOFP (ignore the old icons)
1?
Seriously?
Of all the places in all the world, this is where they got stuck. An elevator. An honest to God elevator. One that no matter how much he slashed against it, refused to open. You know, for all the complaints he'd had and all his suffering to get them, he did actually kind of miss the adamantium in perspective. At least he could of ripped the door off and forced his way out. Bone just didn't have the same power, considerably more underwhelming.
At least the lights were on. And there was no annoying music playing. There was a chance that eventually someone would come soon enough too. He slammed the emergency alarm like ten times. It wasn't that he didn't want to be here, he just -- actually, no, that was about right. He didn't want to be stuck here.
Logan just didn't fancy being stranded with Chuck in an elevator for the rest of the night.]
Got any better ideas?
[DOFP SPOILERS just in case of stalkers~ ]
Or, like the Professor X that Logan knows would.
Time is a very strange thing sometimes. ]
Unless your mutation also allows you to jump up to the next floor from the emergency hatch. [ Charles's eyes have been fixated on the emergency door for some time, dealing with the pros and cons of such a move. If Erik had come with them then this wouldn't be an issue. Instead, the man thought it best to run off to do some sort of errand in town before they continued on.
Even if he does miss Erik, he certainly doesn't miss the man's impulsive behavior. And he is still thankful he can't read any of their minds. Especially Erik's. ]

Oh yeah, of course. Did I forget to mention I'm the incredible kangaroo man? Problem solved.
[Rolling his eyes, he gives the door a swift kick. They weren't going to get to the emergency hatch and the door was clearly jammed so it was a matter of waiting till either the elevator maintenance came or Magneto returned. Those were the options they had. He's hoping the first one. He hardly needs a future where Magneto once saved him from an elevator of all things.
Maybe he could lift Charles up and shove him through the emergency hatch? But then what if it started up and he accidentally got their only hope smushed to death by a elevator. With a sigh, he jabs the button a few more times.]
Look, we'll give it another few minutes to work itself out and if not, then I'll see if I can't get up there. I'm not overly eager to go making a jackass of myself. [Once more, he kicks the door hard to try and see if that'll dislodge anything. Worth a shot. When it fails to move still, he leans back against the wall, arms crossed with an annoyed frown on his face.]
This is just what we need, an extended stay in here of all places.

It would fix several of our problems. [ Oh, dry British humor.
If his powers worked he could try to signal Erik that they would be late due to being trapped within an elevator. He imagines Erik would be annoyed by the idea and break said elevator, so it might be best that he can't communicate. Then again Charles will find any reason to say it is good he can't use his powers anymore.
He leans against the wall and crosses his arms under his chest, almost amused at how much the future mutant is hitting the button. ]
I'm not sure about the elevators from the future, Logan, but these certainly don't work faster by smashing them into the console. [ At least he is trying with the humor. That is a step. ] I imagine you make a jackass of yourself in many other ways.
no subject
[Hey, he's not exactly crazy about this idea himself. Had Charles been able to, he'd of happily let him do it. Unfortunately, only he could manage the trip there and back, it was his responsibility to do the right thing. Hanging out in his past with bone claws and angsty young versions of his team mates didn't strike him as a party, you know?
But here he was, trying to hold this mess together and keep everyone in the right track. He wasn't the best man for this plan but he was going to try his best. It meant a better future, a more promising one. How could he throw that away?
Eyes flicking to the side, he gives Charles another glare but there was a glint humour behind it. Always more reassuring that actual hate or annoyance.]
Well I ain't about to stand around waiting for a miracle. Sometimes you have to be proactive. [There's a slight pause.] And don't push your luck here, bub. Just because I need you doesn't mean I can't take a swing.
[He never thought he'd ever actually threaten Charles, even in jest. Christ, this whole thing was jarring. Tilting his head slightly, he exhales slowly.]
no subject
[ Then again he isn't entirely sure how lovely it is to be able to extend one's bones into claws either. Charles imagines it hurts, but doesn't dwell on what pain might be for others. He can barely handle his own pain let alone someone elses.
If Charles knew any better? He would imagine Logan could of been the man for the job. He knew how to keep an even head it seemed. He would of been a valuable asset in the future, except Charles isn't entirely sure how the school could come back together. He can't teach someone if he can't connect, and it is too broken to connect. ]
Miracles don't exist my friend. I thought you knew that. [ Oh there is the bitter. We found it. ] I can't imagine you'd have anymore fun being stuck in an elevator in dead silence if you knock me out.
[ He does have a valid point. You gotta admit that one, Logan.
Charles lets a pause fill the air. ]
You really believe it is possible to change the future. [ A statement, not a question. ] What will happen to you once we have achieved this goal of yours?
no subject
[With a huff, he tries not to dwell too much on their rescue from this place. Logan could wait, he had time. Not loads of time but enough. He just hoped Kitty could manage while he was taking this little interlude. It was hard to waste time like this, he felt guilty for sleeping and eating, lately. Let alone a detour like this.]
Course I know that, just a fancy term for having a bit of good luck for once. [Just because he knows it didn't mean he likes Charles knowing it. It's hard to get used to this. The bitterness and hurt. The professor had always been his rock, the one sane man in a world of lunatics. Yet here he is, like this.] Doesn't mean having a little faith is a bad thing. Sometimes good things do happen just because they happen.
[He shrugs, not willing to get too touchy feely over the matter. And yeah, Charles may have a point but if they start having some sappy heart to heart, the silence might win out.
There's only so long he can rally someone around before it just gets too awkward.]
I know it's possible. It's just doing it that's the hard part. You can't just do one thing and expect a change, you have to follow the whole sequence of events. It's not easy. [Especially not when he has to trust Erik of all people. And Mystique. Not really an easy task.]
I dunno what happens to me. I guess I either stop existing and get rewritten or go back to somewhere better. Or worse. If it can get any worse. [He couldn't say, he really couldn't. What the future holds? A total mystery.] Regardless, I won't be here forever. I can tell you that much.

He is rather certain he can't save Raven as it is.
Charles lets out a sigh and eases himself to sit down on the floor of the elevator. His elbows rest on his knees as he looks up at the man from the future. Part of him wants to remain skeptical, but that part is always skeptical. His trust in others came from reading their minds. It is how humans operate, he assumes. Believing in good will that someone is right. ]
I'm quite aware of what the expression means. We do use it even this far back into the past. [ He rolls his fingers against his palms. ] Good things happening simply because they happen tend to be short lived. Something always comes to sweep it away.
[ Good thing he'd rather avoid a heart to heart too. ]
So then how many events must we change to receive the outcome we want? Raven won't come with is willingly. She has always believed that it is either humanity or us. Despite how much I tried to show her differently. [ There is a sense of hurt in his voice. He can still recall their conversation at the kitchen table before Cuba very well. ] And we both know that Erik will only work with us so far. It doesn't take a telepath to know how the man thinks. Even if he did try to save the President.
[ That is one thing he is still not entirely sure on. Erik not only abandoned him injured on a beach, but he forced him out of his mind. That bond that had been forged was cut at the seems. It was one of the most painful things for a telepath to live through. ]
You're really willing to let yourself be erased? All that you have done? The people you've helped? [ Charles chuckles and shakes his head. ] I must admit that I do admire your dedication and selflessness.

4 sound good?
Yes, had to be it. It had happened the time before, back before she had met with those trapped souls in a strange (to put it lightly) tower. Though seeing an old friend, a little older and more disheveled, seated not far from her in this small space...
Blink. Blink blink. ]
.... Charles?
[ What in the worlds is going on? Philemon, what are you doing? And dare she dream to hope he recognized her, even though it seemed as though she only aged a year?
And dare she ask who these other two gentlemen are.]time for heartbreak
He sighs deeply and reaches for his glass. He is still adjusting to having his powers again. The voices around him are still painful even if he does have his confidence back. Even if enough of him is fixed to use his power? It'll take adjusting to--strength. Things he wonders how he'll have once this whole ordeal is fixed.
Then he hears his name and his heart almost stops. It is a voice he hasn't heard in quite a long time. So long that if he hadn't known better, he would of thought he had dreamed it. Except that world was extremely real despite everything that should have been unreal about it. The people he met, the people he cared for--he lost them just as he had his school. It was something he couldn't explain to the others. No one remembered it.
Charles slowly looks over to the woman and it looks almost as if he has seen a ghost. He's already pale from the slight detox of the drug leaving his system, but seeing her makes him wonder if he is indeed sleeping and not Logan. He sits up straight in his wheelchair and locks eyes with hers. ]
Aqua.
all the heartbreak
A pained but relieved smile crosses her lips at the mention of her name. ]
It's been a while, old friend.
[ Not just for him, but her as well--judging by the tone in her voice. ] To think that... they'd send me to you, of all people.
[ She is going to have Words with the residents of the Velvet Room later, but for now... she moves to kneel beside him, tentatively reaching for his hand to prove that she was real. ]
/lays here missing these two idiots
Except it broke anyways, this time by his own world.
There's a bit of a hesitant laugh that escapes him. ]
You have no idea. [ She has grown some. Either in mind or spirit, perhaps both, but she certainly looks the same as he knew her. Maybe her face is a bit thinner. She always worried like he did--
Charles watches her, eyes wide, almost as if he is wary of the touch. The immediate reaction is to pull away but he doesn't. He sends a glance to Logan to make sure the man is still asleep. This is something he'd rather the other two men do not interrupt. ]
/misses these two idiots, too
Actually... I think I might. [ Loathe as she is to accept it, only truth echoes in them. ] Aging is... fickle, where I've been since we last met.
[ It had taken her months to function normally, since first awakening on a city street. Even now, she finds herself hesitating to follow through with what her heart screams to do and actually touch him, rather than just kneel beside him so as to not disturb the man sleeping nearby.
Being quiet to not disturb those around her had become second nature in the last ten years. Though quite recently, she got used to another thing - and likely something that would shock her old friend were she to use it. ]
'You have the look of one who lost much... I am sorry for being gone for so long.'
[ ...Her lips didn't move, and it's clearly not him inside her head. Though for the moment, it's almost as though the other voices grew quieter... on his end, at any rate. ]
/forces them together after like three years B(
Aging was not what I had in mind by that statement, Aqua. [ A hesitant smile. ] But, it seems as if time has been kinder to you than I in that regard.
[ He basically screams "look at my 1970s digs."
Charles keeps his hands where they are, biting on the inside of his mouth. The sound of her thoughts stand out amongst the others--possibly because she is so close and thinking so loud directly at him. It is something he'll need to hone again if he is to find Raven amongst all the others in Washington DC.
His eyes turn towards hers again. ]
There is nothing you could have done. As I recall, we believed we would never see one another again after that city. [ Over the years he has become very bitter about the experience. ] There is absolutely no reason for you to apologize for something that was out of our control.
/literally chanting "just hug already" and realizing she's modded huggame too long
[ She couldn't help the slight jest, but anything to relieve the tension at this rate. They had much to catch up on, and it certainly doesn't look like he has slept properly in ages. After ten years, it's gotten easy to see that - what crippling loss looked like. ]
'You know that is not what I meant.' [ But then, she hasn't always been that great with words ever since she was still new to this Master thing.... was she? Light, it was still odd to think of it that way--a lifetime ago. ] We have much to catch up on, Charles... and while I could show off my powers... I am here to help you with yours.
[ Of all the things that she ever thought to say to someone who has much more knowledge in telepathic communications... this was the one thing she expected the least. Philemon had said as much about who he was sending her to. ]

ummmm 6! Trapped in the paaaaaast
It's empty.
She'd been trying to send Logan's consciousness back to 1975 to stop the Sentinels. This was so not how that was supposed to go. She makes her way through the mansion, trying not to panic.]
Professor X? Logan? Bobby? Are you here?
[She swears she can hear crickets. Seriously, this is weird.]
Anybody? Hello?
ouch my feels /adds to this account
Charles looks up from his book when he hears the voice in the halls. It isn't Kitty's mind he hears. No, he's lost that ability by choice. Instead he stands. With his robe on over his white t-shirt and jeans, Charles steps out into the hallway. His eyelids are heavy with needing to sleep and the dark circles show as well. Not that it really matters. No one but Hank is here--
--until now.
He keeps the glass in his hand as he rubs at his eye, stepping down the stairs into the main hall. ]
You know, [ Charles clears his throat and points to the doors. ] This is private property. I'm certain you are a lovely young woman, but, you are trespassing.
no subject
She jumps a little at sudden appearance of someone walking down the stairs. It can't be the Professor because he was walking... Well, he couldn't have been in the wheelchair the whole time and she didn't know the story behind it sooo...
Her eyebrows arch at the private property comment, her head tilting more with the lovely woman addition. He was attractive for a hippie, she'd give him that - but if this was who she was looking for? Weird, cool but weird.]
I'm looking for the Professor, ummm... Charles Xavier? I'm Kitty - it's... it's complicated but I need his help. If you kick me out, I'm just gonna get back in - it's kind of hard to keep me out.
[She knew these walls like the back of her hand, it wouldn't be an issue. If he wasn't going to help her, she'd just annoy him until he caved.]
no subject
He leans against the railing, feeling his legs go a little weak. The proper dosage for the day hasn't been administered, given he has spent most the day sleeping. Though how exactly the woman got past Hank is a bit more curious than anything. Once he has his answers? She'll be sent--
--his eyebrows raise at that. ]
Then you are in luck. You've found him. [ Charles takes a quick sip of his drink. ] Except the school is closed, if you couldn't see that. You can't be a professor if you have no students.
no subject
She's not sure what to say to the news of the school closing, so she decides to go a different route.]
Has a guy named Logan been here? Big, muscular, weird hair, affinity for cigars?
no subject
I can't say that I've seen anyone. I'd tell you to ask Hank, but, you're not supposed to be here at all. There is a No Trespassing sign on the door.
no subject
She ignores his quip, continuing to scan the area, searching for anything to tip her off.]
Hank? Who's Hank? Also, it takes a lot more than a 'No Trespassing' sign to stop me, as you would know if you were fr-

6. SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT
[Kittens.
There were kittens everywhere.
Calico, Siamese, Tabby, Bombay, Scottish Fold.... Somehow, some incredibly strange way, Raven Darkholme had become completely trapped beneath a pile of mewling, curious kittens, a flash of deep blue under a mass of fur and whiskers.
And while the felines were kneeding with jellybean toes against one another and crying softly for attention, the mutant's mumbled words for help could barely be heard above the loud chorus of purrs.]
SCREECHES AT THE USERNAME (also sorry for the lateness)
Charles can't help but chuckle at the display really. Raven is completely undone by kittens. If only the world were that nice and that innocent, yes? Then everything would be alright. Sadly the kittens can't save the world even though it's a lovely idea.
Even then he rolls the wheelchair over and begins to lean down to pick up one kitten. Hopefully enough of them will take the hint so that he can rescue the woman he still calls sister in his heart. ]
I see you're still capable of making friends, Raven.
