Fell asleep on meme;

sweet dreams.

Someone, whether it be a friend or a total stranger, has fallen asleep on you wherever you happen to be and you are a rather comfortable pillow to them. what do you do?

The carriage ride was long and tedious. It wasn't too surprising that the princess fell asleep, really. It was somewhat surprising when she'd shifted in her sleep and fallen onto the only other passenger.

Sephiroth was somewhat infamous for the way he held himself aloof from...well...just about everyone. One might expect him to react badly to the unwanted physical contact. But on the other hand, manhandling ones' sovereign was a...poor idea. He'd tried gentle nudging, but that hadn't gone anywhere. A conundrum.

And so he sat in stoic silence, continuing to read the book he'd brought as if the princess of the kingdom wasn't sleeping on his shoulder. The whole thing would be comical if there were another person in the cart to see it - of which there were none, thankfully.

Fine by me!

Zelda really had not meant to fall asleep. It was an undignified thing to do while in someone else's company, and even worse... falling asleep on them.

Of course, she doesn't know she's done that. The princess is having a lovely dream despite the bumpy carriage ride, and eventually her gloved arms wrap gently around one of Sephiroth's.

Yes, she's making herself all the more comfortable. And probably getting in the way of that book reading.

Sephiroth did his level best to keep reading but, inevitably, he set the book down when the situation became untenable. His gaze wandered over to Zelda; she looked rather peaceful in her sleep.

He wasn't normally the sentimental type, but as her general he knew how stressful the last few weeks had been. If she needed a pillow, well...he'd allow that. He did his level best to focus on the scenery passing outside the window, though. The close contact might have been well outside his comfort zone, but he'd dealt with worse things than a princess wrapping her arms around him.

He just hoped she didn't wake up in this position.

Unfortunately for Sephiroth, his hopes do not come to pass. A particularly harsh bump in the road wakes Zelda with a start, and the next thing she notices is the way her arms are wrapped around one of her general's, and her head had just been lying on his arm.

Oh... dear.

She untangles her arms and folds them in her lap instead, a light blush spreading over her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I hadn't even realized I'd fallen asleep."

"Good morning, your highness."

His delivery was so deadpan it wasn't clear whether he was being serious or not. He was pretty good at that tone. Then again, it was probably nothing...Sephiroth just didn't do humor, right? Right?

He picked up his book and flipped it open as if nothing had happened. If he felt at all embarrassed about the situation, it didn't show in either his face or his bearing. Then again, that was to be expected. Nothing ever seemed to get to him.

"No need to apologize," he said at length. "You've been busy lately. I understand if it's caught up with you." Of course, it hadn't caught up with him, but there were rumors floating around that he didn't actually need sleep. Were they true? Who knows?

"It has," she replies quietly, trying to will the heat to recede from her cheeks. Zelda doesn't think it's much of an excuse for falling asleep on him... she's had hard weeks plenty in the past without falling asleep on other people. But the carriage had been lulling her, along with her exhaustion.

"Are you fairing well?" To turn the attention away from her, though she already knows what the response will be.
