[ Ciel doesn't like crowds. as a general statement, he doesn't like people, so that's not much of a surprise. but he's been making a valiant effort today, for the sake of doing something fun with Ritsuka, who he walks close beside. Ciel is a year older than Ritsuka, and--surprisingly--a little taller, and on days like today, when spending an extended period of time in public, he tends to wear a hat to hide the fact that the ears he should have at his age aren't there. (he hates the disapproving glances he gets nearly as much as he hates the sympathetic ones.)

he hadn't been particularly sold on roller coasters--or anything that removed his feet from the ground, as a matter of fact--but after having oddly enjoyed the first one they'd been on today, he'd opened up to the idea a little more.

but now they're taking a break from rides and amusement park games in favor of sticky pink clouds of candy floss on a stick. he hands one of them to Ritsuka, keeping the other for himself. ]

I'm glad it didn't rain. [ he picks delicately with two fingers at the web of sugar, unwinding a small portion and slipping it past his lips to let it melt on his tongue. ]

Me too. [ though it had startled him when they first met, now Ritsuka doesn't even notice Ciel's lack of ears anymore. Ciel is Ciel, and Ritsuka would consider himself an idiot if he let something like ears keep him from seeing the good in the older boy.

as it is, Ritsuka is having a wonderful time. the two of them have taken a lot of pictures, including buying the one taken automatically on the roller coaster. it's kind of a candid but even so Ritsuka still likes it. his tail is happily swishing as he nibbles his own generous helping of candy floss. ]

They would probably close down a lot of the rides if it did. [ considers ] Though I guess it wouldn't be all bad. We could eat cotton candy the rest of the day. [ a grin ]

[ Ritsuka is both understanding and perceptive, and these are two of the qualities that Ciel appreciates most about him. truthfully, Ciel most often dismisses others his age without a second thought. he doesn't have the time or the patience for dealing with children, he says--as if he isn't a child himself. in some ways, Ciel feels so far removed from his age group that he simply doesn't know how to act around them anymore.

but not so with Ritsuka. Ritsuka is easy to be around--and moreover, Ciel actually enjoys his presence.

perhaps it's because Ritsuka tends to remove himself, too. as a matter of fact, there are a number of reasons Ciel feels he can connect with Ritsuka. ]

I wouldn't mind that. [ his lips quirk up a little as he talks. ] We could have the whole trolley of it if we wanted. [ because Ciel has both an insatiable sweet tooth and a lot of money with which to indulge it. probably a bad combination. ] But since it isn't raining, what did you want to do next?
