THE VIDEO GAME MEME

Video games. We love 'em. You love 'em. Let's play 'em. ...That's all there is to it, yep.

1.) Post with your character.
2.) When you reply to someone, roll from the options below.
3.) Play the game. Feel free to pick a specific one if you want, or make up your own random-ass game.
4.) Try not to break the console.

OPTIONS:

1. Dating Sim (eg. Tokimeki Memorial, Katawa Shoujo): Basically obligatory in these sorts of memes. But remember, it's not just about picking whether to stick it in or not! It's also about making sure you don't slack off too much in your studies and workout, you lazy ass.

2. Japanese RPG (eg. Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Tales of): Saving the world one scripted overdramatic event after another. Grind those levels!

3. Western RPG (eg. Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Wizardry): Gotta go save the world! ...After I get the rats out of the cellar, and take this scroll to the next city over, and try to find three artifacts for the archeologist at the camp...

4. Management Sim (eg. Evil Genius, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Simcity): I don't know what you're talking about. Having a roller coaster that launches people into orbit is perfectly legitimate park design.

5. Beat'em'up (eg. Final Fight, River City Ransom, God Hand): PUNCH 'EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT 'EM OUT. Try not too eat too many street chickens.

6. First Person Shooter (eg. Doom, Medal of Honor, Half-Life 2): No John you ARE the demons. And then John was a demon. Oooh, motion sickness...

7. Adventure Game (eg. The Walking Dead, Monkey Island, King's Quest): I'm pretty sure that porcelain cat is SOMEHOW important in getting the guard to let you into the club, but how?

8. Platformer (eg. Super Mario Bros, Rayman, I Wanna Be the Guy): Where do all those pits actually drop you, anyway?

9. Strategy (eg. Starcraft, Civilization, Total War): zerg rush kekekekekekeke

10. Survival Horror (eg. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space): ...but isn't this what 75% of Dreamwidth RPs are ANYWAY?

11. Puzzle (eg. Puyo Puyo, Chu Chu Rocket, 2048): Yeah, I apologize if that last example is giving anybody withdrawal symptoms right now.

12. Fighting Game (eg. Street Fighter, Tekken, King of Fighters): ARE YOU KEN? ARE YOU KEN? SURE YOU'RE KEN!

13. Shoot-em-up (eg. Gradius, Touhou, Tyrian): Suddenly, there were bullets! Eeeeeeeeeverywhere!

14. Metroidvania (eg. Metroid, Symphony of the Night, La Mulana): Leaving rooms tantalizingly out of reach until you get the right item for years.

15. Classic Arcade (eg. Frogger, Pac-Man, Lunar Lander): Where pretty much the only thing that matters is the points you get and how few quarters you use to get them.

16. Sports (eg. Tecmo Bowl, NBA Jam, Mario Kart): Because why get fresh air when you can sit on your butt and make touchdowns?

17. Dark Souls: Yes. I just gave it its own section. FIGHT ME

18. Wildcard/Other: Anything I forget to list? Here it goes.

[ If Kuroko is bad at it, Loki is horrible. Never in his life has he played any game like this (Asgård doesn't even have TVs!), nor does he know how the controller works. Which means he's pouting at the screen, tempted to throw the controller at the floor. ]

[On one hand, not being completely crushed is nice. On the other, there isn't much progress being made and that kinda...takes away the fun from the game, if he's being honest, so he'll take the bite.]

[He's pretty sure they don't have the same definition for that word, so trying to guess without having any reference could be difficult, to say the least.]

Pranks with food, fighting. Something where you don’t chase a ball like that. [ Especially since he can’t make the balls on the screen grow legs or catch fire.

He pulls out wrapped, bright green cookies from his pocket to offer. Dare you eat it after he’s just said that? ]

[Things he's not: an idiot. Who would eat something that is bright green?]

[Weirdly enough, he actually has a fighting game that someone gave him as a present, and it comes with some good news.]

This one has an easy mode for beginners. You won't have trouble with the controller.

But it’s tasty~ [ He turns to dangle one in front of Kuroko’s face. Come on, come on~

It’d be a lie to say he minds the easy mode, but he’s a liar anyway. He’s looking forward to trying something that might actually be fun for him. ] Not that I need it or anything, [ right ] but if it’s fun I’ll play it.

[No is no when it comes to weirdly colored food. And while he's not going to be rude and comment directly on Loki's terrible skills, Kuroko is going to assume he needs help. So, instead of just giving the controller back to him, he also makes a casual remark.]
