The Non-Anon Interview Meme

001. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
002. Others respond by asking you ANY five questions (IC or OOC)
003. Answer them either in the following comment, or through a link to your journal.

or:

004. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Modified from various journal memes.

"INTERVIEW ME."

1. Better to be feared or loved?
goodoldsue: (From a distance)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had to choose just the one? Likely feared.

[ Given her interactions with other non-human creatures, especially those of the 'bump-in-the-night' variety, it's an easy conclusion to draw.

And very few look forward to death until they already are. Dead, that is. ]

It comes naturally, a cross look at the guilty party can send them scrambling back to their seat.

Huh.

2. D'you think it comes naturally to everyone?
goodoldsue: (Weapon of choice: poker)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
No, there are people who are so sweet, you'd think sugar would fall out of them if you breathed on them too hard.

3. That being the case, can people who can't command fear ever achieve real greatness?
goodoldsue: (15 things before teatime)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they can, but they're trapped by their own reputation when they try to do something that will be unpopular.

It all comes down to discipline.

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-26 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
4. What motivates the average man to actual discipline?
goodoldsue: (15 things before teatime)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
If a man wanted something badly enough, that would serve as motivation.

Or you approach it in steps. One small achievement at a time all culminating in a final goal. Use both a carrot, and the stick.

5. And is it better to let men fail instead?
goodoldsue: (Default)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to need that question to be more specific than that.

Fail personally? As a species?
sogreataname: (for queen and country)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-26 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if it's allowed.

5a. Is it better to let men fail as individuals if they aren't doing well on their own; and

5b. Is it important to intervene if it becomes a matter of the species failing wholly?
goodoldsue: (And it's all rainbows.)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-26 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a competitive world, coddling them won't do anyone favours. If they're smart, they would learn from the mistake and not do it again.

As for men as a species, it would be hard to make any progress if survival was at stake.
sogreataname: (mischief managed)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that's my five, but thank you for being eternally fascinating, Miss Susan.

I would say it has been a pleasure, though I have to say the topic is far removed from what one would normally expect from regular conversation.
sogreataname: (for queen and country)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
But to which you don't seem to have objected.
goodoldsue: (15 things before teatime)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-27 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
No, I've never had much interest in small talk.

Niceties may have to observed, but the faster they cut to the chase, the better.
sogreataname: (so great a name)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
So you do think they have to be.
goodoldsue: (Weapon of choice: poker)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-27 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
They're not something that can be worked around.
sogreataname: (but be the serpent or whatever)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
You must have worked hard at mastering doing it quickly, then.
goodoldsue: (Biting on my tongue)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-27 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
My parents helped to encourage it.

[ Though whether they had intended for it to turn out the way it did is another matter. ]</small.
sogreataname: (unplanned-for distractions)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you know how difficult it is not to ask you a sixth question.
goodoldsue: (That was cute)

[personal profile] goodoldsue 2014-04-27 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ That gets a flash of a grin. ]

Following the letter of the law today, are we?
sogreataname: (love the way you lie)

[personal profile] sogreataname 2014-04-27 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I don't always attempt it, but when I do, I like to do it well.

A commendment to excellence, then.
