THE FLOOR. THE FLOOR. THE FLOOR IS LAVA.

For whatever reason, the floor is unacceptable as a place to sleep. It's messy, the dog is there, THE FLOOR IS LAVA, or maybe there's flooding. Who cares why it's not acceptable, it just isn't! Normally, that's not an issue, but tonight you have a friend over. Maybe it's the safest place, maybe it's hurricane season and your house is the only one out of the path of the storm. Stop trying to figure out the details, just get over it and share the bed with that person! Sexy times are not required. Intimacy is not required. Just share the damn bed already.
Do you need options? Here! Have some options!
1. It's late. You're tired. Too tired to drive and THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
2. It's late. You're drunk. Too drunk. Honestly, how did you drink that much and not die? Should we take you to the hospital? Here, just stay in this bed with me. No, you can't sleep on the floor. THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
3. It's early. You thought you'd just come by and visit but you can barely function. The bed seems inviting. Guess what, you're invited into the bed! Yes. The bed. Not the floor. THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
4. DO YOU LIKE TO CUDDLE? CUDDLING IS OKAY. And yes, the floor is lava.
5. WILDCARD. Just figure out a reason why you need to share the bed. But don't forget: the floor is lava!
6. The Crack Fun Insane Option - Actually Play the Floor is Lava Game!! Move about the room without touching the floor... because the floor is lava.

Pretty sure, but then again, this was Memecity. Because when he had cracked open on eye to find his cellphone, it took nearly a full minute of simply staring blearily at the edge of the bed to notice that it was up off the floor. His own room had a mattress laid directly on the floor, his preference. Not to mention the room was far tidier than his own, with a distinctly whimsical touch to it.
Now that his mind was coming out of the fog of sleep, Lucas became aware of someone sleeping next to him. She actually looked vaguely familiar, though he'd be hard pressed to say why because he was fairly certain they hadn't actually met. Moreover he was absolutely convinced he hadn't gotten drunk the night before and gone home with a stranger, but at this point he couldn't really argue either. The bed was comfy and warm, he just hoped whoever sleeping beauty was, she wasn't prone to freaking upon discovering a stranger in her bed. Truth be told, he was half-tempted to go back to sleep. It had become a precious commodity as of late.

It helped a lot that she was still distinctly asleep, which meant that her subconscious -- always a creature lacking boundaries -- still held sway! Mumbling something pleasant and unintelligible, Fa buried her face in the crook of Lucas' shoulder and began a light snore.

Because this lady was definitely still asleep. He did relax a little at the snoring but now he was in quite the conundrum! To wake or not to wake, that was the question.
"Um..." Lucas finally settled on trying to wake her up as gently as possible. He put a hand to her shoulder, giving her a small nudge. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty, time to wake up."

Instead of having the desired effect of drawing the Medium more space, Lucas found a hand thrown over his shoulder, groping loosely across his face as Fa appeared to be doing some half-conscious examination of his character. Finding him satisfactory, one could suppose, she wormed her arm around him so that her hand was wedged between him and the bed; it was a proper cuddle-wrangling. She didn't really want to wake up, but she supposed that she ought to say something given that she couldn't remember having taken anyone to bed, and it was bad form to rope someone into physical affection before discovering, at least, their name.
"'M awake," she volunteered, voice groggy but pleasant. "Three things: welcome, I'm Fa, what's your name; I don't --" she paused as a yawn surprised her and interrupted her for a moment! "I don't remember you being here before right now, so I'm sorry, but you are warm and you seem nice; and if you're not mortified there are always waffles." That was pretty well put together, she felt! She was mentally tabulating whether she'd left anything out; this probably came across as finger tapping on Lucas' ribs as she ticked each point off.

Instinctively almost, Lucas went to lay an arm across the arm she had draped over his shoulder, hesitating at the last moment. "Fa? I'm Lucas," At least now he had a name, so the awkward was lessened considerably. Besides, if she was going to cuddle him, the least he could do was reciprocate!
"Nawh, it's fine. I'm like pretty sure I went to sleep in my own bed last night, so who knows, but I'm not complaining." He grinned, "Especially about the waffles. Can't argue with waffles."
The tiny taps at his side made him twitch a little, slightly ticklish in that area. He let out a giggling-snort, but didn't really make a move to get out of bed as of yet. It was warm and the company was pretty nice, too.
"Uuh, you seem pretty cool with all of this, if you don't mind me sayin'."

"Promise I usually at least ask someone out to supper first," Fa gave a languid shrug, a more wakeful grin tinting her voice. "I don't often toot my own horn but I am a cuddle-veteran, and besides, now I know your weakness." Just because she hadn't gone straight in for the proper tickle didn't mean that she couldn't make it announced that she knew what to aim for! She knew other, generic weaknesses of the male persuasion but this, ironically enough, did not seem the time for it. At least if their positions were reversed, she would appreciate avoiding the allusions... probably. Most likely. Well, possibly not; Fa was extremely easy-going when it came to bed-bound shenanigans.
Instead, she took the opportunity to squeeze him close and nuzzle against the back of his head. She had sort of been in need of some person-time; it had been surprisingly hard to make inroads of that sort since she had decided to focus her attention on studies!

Laying still for a moment or two after she snuggled in even closer, he took a moment to appreciate the warmth before the desire to look the lady in the face took over. he had caught a glimpse earlier, half over his shoulder, but it seemed perhaps a little odd not to turn over. With a clumsy motion, not to jar her hold on him too terribly much, Lucas ended up practically nose to nose with Fa.
"Uuh, hi there!" He grinned. This close and he felt more than certain he'd seen her, somewhere, but he was still drawing blanks!

"Just wanted to make sure you weren't going to turn into some kind of frog," she teased, just in case he took it poorly.

Mirroring her kiss, Lucas's was just as brief, though a little more insistent than her's. She started it, and he figured there was no better way to say he wouldn't mind carrying things further.
"Yeah, okay, in a place like this that's a pretty valid concern, I grant ya," He smiled lopsidedly as he pulled away. "I'm no Prince though, hope that doesn't disappoint you too much."
no subject
But that was neither here nor there.
She settled up against him, slipping a leg over his as she guided his arm over her bare back -- being under the blankets meant, she supposed, that this was probably a bit of a revelation. Best to hook him in while he was still interested, lest he shy away from bare skin! It helped to distract him with another kiss, she told herself. (At least it helped her; his insistence was fetching and she could always use a little more of that!)

All things considered though, he didn't really need to be a prince, nor Fa some kind of sleeping beauty, but the friendly banter was also a welcomed change of pace. Usually such encounters were a rush to the finish, with hasty good-byes afterwards, never to cross paths again. And maybe this would end the same way, Lucas couldn't be sure, but he wasn't going to complain.
As his calloused hand slid around her bare back, his eyebrows shot up, smirk widening as the realization dawned. "Hey, I don't remember this part of Sleeping Beauty."
Instead of pulling away, he gently stroked the small of her back, shifting so her leg was more comfortably draped across his. Fa would find, perhaps disappointingly so, that Lucas was comfortably dressed in his usual PJs of a t-shirt and boxers. As he leaned in to meet her halfway for the next round of kissing, Lucas couldn't help but think this strange turn of events was working out to be one of the best things to have occurred in this weird city!

She wasn't as tentative about their next kiss as she probably could have been, but then she was also idly putting her mind to the problem of clothing, running an assessment (re: hand wandering across his torso, obviously) and then troubleshooting what she found (the waist hem, which of course she ducked beneath!) Given that this was an lazy sort of morning, she was content to explore by touch at a leisurely pace, especially since Lucas seemed content to stay where he lay and return her attention. A reply finally came to mind as they pulled apart for air, so a little breathlessly, Fa interjected, "this beauty is definitely not sleeping."
...It sounded better in her mind, really.

When they parted from the kiss, Lucas couldn't contain an eyeroll. That was bad even by his standards, but he had the decency and wits not to laugh right away. Although, it all begged a very certain question.
"How far we taking this anyways, Aurora?" One eyebrow raised, questioningly. Not that he would mind taking this encounter to a certain point, but he was a bit woefully unprepared in that regard. Memecity hadn't been kind enough to dump him in Fa's room with a condom at hand, after all!

Here she leaned forward partly to capitalize on the fact that she'd slid out of the blanket, allowing the gentle silhouette of the muted light of her bedroom to leave very little to the imagination; but partly also to rummage in her bedside drawer. Inventory check: everything that she'd need for a simple romp seemed in order, and that caused her grin to turn towards sultry. She could make good on any highfalutin claims... thank goodness for foresight!
no subject
"I don't think that's a fair question with how you're asking it," Lucas replied, with a wide grin on his face. It wasn't fair at all, in fact, especially as her smile was cranked up a few degrees in hotness. Utterly done for, there was only one course of action he could really take.
"If that happens to be a drawer full of goodies, what are the chances one of them is a condom?" As un-sexy as the request was, he was all in on this early morning romp!

By the time that they were done the sun had crept far enough into the sky that there was little mystery left to the bedroom... but that didn't matter much, considering that they probably wouldn't need it much longer, anyways. Fa had begged pardon to wander off, rosy-cheeked and tousled and unable to quite stop grinning. That ought to give Lucas enough time to relocate his PJ's, if nothing else. She returned with a tall glass of water and an apologetic grin. "I don't have much that would fit you that I think you might actually be able to wear outside, but I've got this," she held up a giant, fluffy white housecoat on a hanger, "if you want to stick around for breakfast... um, or lunch, rather!"
"Do you have anyone who can run over a set of outdoor clothes or would you rather make a break for it?" Very forthright, this one... but by this point Lucas might have been able to gather that.

He had just pulled up his boxers, snapping the band lightly and turned at the sound of her voice. He snorted, grinning at the sight of the fluffy robe. "I dunno if I could pull off the look," Lucas teased lightly before pulling on his shirt. He peered down at his get-up and shrugged. "Okay, dorky cartoon boxers aside, I doubt I'd get very many looks running around in this in this city, you know?"
He was in unfamiliar territory now, though. If he stayed for lunch, what did that mean? Did it have to mean anything? How does this crap work, anyways. Since Fa was offering, Lucas had found her company to be really fun, their romp between the sheets aside.
"I'm down for some lunch, if you don't mind me sticking around awhile longer."
no subject
She seemed blithely unaware of his quandary for now, regarding the meaning of sex, casual or otherwise, when it came to a delicious stranger appearing between the sheets. Maybe she was just making the best of an ad lib situation. She was doing her best to make him feel welcomed, at least! "Please, stick around. I wouldn't mind the company, and I love a good story -- how you got here, being one!" Her grin was sardonic, but that was only because she was aware that 'crass trickery' was on the docket where the city came in to play.
She gestured for him to follow her, pulled a seat out at her little two-person table that helped divide kitchen from living room. Her apartment was rather tiny, but considering she appeared to be living on her own, that might not be surprising. "So, waffles: can you have 'em the good old fashioned way, or do you need substitutions?" If she was forthright, at least she also tried to be thoughtful!
no subject
"Wish I could tell you that, but I guess in this city anything's possible, right?" Lucas mused aloud as he followed her through the apartment. Plopping himself down in the offered seat, he mulled over his own words. People came and went in this place, occasionally a building would...morph to suit a new purpose, but he really hadn't come across too many cases where someone would wake up in someone else's apartment. "Guess it's something for me to do some research into."
At the very least, Memecity would be keeping him on his toes for some time to come. At Fa's question Lucas could only shake his head, "Oh, um. However you make 'em is fine, I'm not picky. A growing boy's gotta eat, you know!"
