When the previous owners accepted the offer, Arthur got started on buying new furniture since most of what they had in their apartment would be taken to another smaller apartment in the city once they found a place. In the mean time, the couches and other big items would be in storage. So in their new house, they were basically starting over.
What Arthur liked best about the house was how open it was. When he stood in the living room, he could see out to the front of the house through the large window high on the wall and only had to turn his head to look outside at the back yard through the glass doors that led there. He could picture their children running around the place.
On moving in day, the new furniture was brought in along with the boxes from their apartment. Arthur was directing the movers, letting Ariadne take a break if she wanted. He basically knew where he wanted everything down to the last picture frame hung on the wall.
She was happy to just let Arthur take the lead on this. Wherever he decided to put things would be more than okay with her. She wasn't picky and he was particular enough for the both of them. She also hadn't been feeling too great the past couple of days and just the ride behind the moving truck from the city to the new house had made her stomach upset.
Seeing that Arthur had the situation handled, she opted instead to take a quick walk around their new property. It was still chilly out but the fresh air made her feel better. She sent a quick text to Arthur so he wouldn't worry when he finally looked up from the hubbub and realized she wasn't in the house.
Taking a quick walk outside. Let me know if you need me.
When his phone vibrated in his pocket, he took it out and read the text before sending one back. Will do. Love you. He did notice that she wasn't feeling too well on the drive out here. He had wondered if she was car sick or something but he shrugged it off and attributed her upset stomach to the car ride.
She was already feeling better, but she had a feeling it might be more than regular car-sickness she was experiencing. She didn't want to say anything to Arthur right now though. Not until the house was settled anyway.
They had started all this early in the morning, packing most of their things in boxes with just the two of them the day before. So when it neared lunch time, the movers took a break and Arthur went around to go find her.
She was sitting on a low stone wall that was part of the landscaping of the back yard, watching some birds hopping around. She smiled and stood up as she saw him approaching.
"Good, good," he replied. Arthur had put Molly up in one of the rooms on the third floor so that she'd be out of the way, but he'd need to take her out soon. "how are you feeling?" He asked, standing beside her, taking her hand in his.
"Yeah I am," she said. She hadn't eaten much for breakfast and now that she was feeling better she was pretty hungry. "Should we order a pizza or something?"
"Pizza sounds good." He took out his phone as they walked back into the house and looked up a pizza place that could deliver to their area. When he found one, he phoned in for a large pizza, half pepperoni, half veggies. "Should be here in thirty minutes," he said when he hung up. Arthur opened the door to the guest room on the third floor and were immediately greeted by Molly.
"Let's go out." Arthur picked her up in his arms and she started licking his face. He laughed as they walked down to the second floor and out through the back to the yard. He set her down.
As soon as she was down she went out running around the backyard. There were still small piles of un-melted snow and ice.
"We're going to have to get something to wipe her paws off with," Ari said, wrinkling her nose a bit. "I don't think you want mud prints on our new sofa."
He smiled and kissed the top of her head. "You love it here, too, right?" Arthur had been the one to champion the house over the other one, so he just wanted to be sure that she loved it too.

"Hi baby, sorry we had to lock you in there," she said as she pet her. "Wanna go out?"
Luckily part of the yard that had the pool was fenced in so they could just let her out the back.

"I know someone who already loves it here," she said. There was so much more room for Molly to run around and explore than at their city apartment.

And she could see Arthur had ordered things to soften up the hard, modern edges of the place - plush rugs and inviting chairs.
