[john offered mckay his hand in order to help her up for the fifth time time that session. he was going easy on her, but it has been mer's idea to start training like this, and john figured it couldn't hurt.

but after five times of her being thrown or taken down? he was beginning to reevaluate his position.]

You okay?

[So maybe Meredith had reevaluated her position right after round one. Okay, maybe the moment she had stepped into this room. Fine, maybe the second after Sheppard had actually taken her up on the offer.

She grabs the hand and stumbles to her feet, a scowl on her face as she narrows her eyes at him.]

You're enjoying this, aren't you. You are literally having the time of your life. My misery is your life energy.

[he bites his bottom lip as she scowls at him and turns to head back to their starting positions after he helps her up.]

Last I checked, you wanted this. I'm just trying to teach you how to defend yourself if it ever comes down to hand to hand combat. [Meredith didnt' give herself enough credit. despite her nerves sometimes making her hell to deal with, she was good with a gun, and (for a scientist) excelled at the shooting range.]

You're thinking about it too much. You need to let go a little bit. Just react.

[he puts his hands up in a loose fighting stance, and nods towards her.]

Slower this time. When you're ready.
