(( ooc. I hope this is a good canon point for you, but if you'd like me to change anything let me know! ))

[It was almost as a dream, being back in Edoras after Helm's Deep. The battle had been long and painful, all the more so to her for she had remained hidden, no sword in hand, tending to worried wives and crying children. The hours seemed to have extended themselves into days there, hidden in that fortress, and at one point Éowyn was sure that that place was to become a tomb, a place from which none of them would walk away.

However, by some miracle or sheer will of men, they had won. Her brother and his men had returned just in time to add enough numbers to send the dark forces away from the city. They were gone then, but wives still wept, warriors still bled. How many had given their lives to save them she did not know, but it was sure to be a high number.

In Edoras now, they celebrate. She wonders if for those who laugh and drink, how many cry for the deaths of their brothers or sons, their loved ones, but she understands. It is a sacrifice for their city, their king and their kind, even if at a time like this, it is hard to see light in the future of men.

The halls of the house of Rohan are lit, the people loud, singing and dancing, and although she much enjoys being a part of it all, once again seeing such joy in a place not so long ago she thought to be nearly gone is all too overwhelming, and she steps outside into the night for a moment of quiet. It is rather cold but she doesn't seem to mind that, as she takes seat on the steps to the side of the door. Outside it is much quieter, even with the people on the streets, the voices being nothing but muffled sounds, and the air is clear, the night sky bright. The moon and stars seem to shine almost as fiercely as the mid-day sun, and it gives her hope, it makes her smile, even if part of her fears that these stars could be the last that men saw for a long time to come.]
