Fancy is certainly the key word there, Knave. I didn't know Fancy was in your wardrobe. [She indicates his clothes which make him less conspicuous at this party.] Or did you ransack somebody else's?

[She shakes her head at him a little and moves to sip her champagne. As she tilts her head back slightly, the little green plant hanging above them catches her eye.]

...Did you have a purpose in walking over here?

[looks up at the ceiling and gulps. He hadn't even seen the plant, he had just wanted to go over and be his snarky yet charming self]

Just to make you aware that it was a proper party now that I'm here.

Oh, I was doing all right for myself without you, but your presence is noted. I won't even tell the host to hide the eggnog from you. I'm feeling that good a friend tonight. [She smirks, but the looming presence of the mistletoe is something she can't ignore.]

I take it you've noticed the....decor?

Eh, once in a while, I try. [She smiled and took another sip of her drink.]

Magic? [THAT adjective takes her by surprise. She doesn't want to believe what she's heard him say about magic, but...well, as a woman of knowledge, she's certainly curious. She reaches into her purse to pull out a scanner and raises it up - it sparks and falls from her hand.] Damnit!

....That wasn't a great coincidence, was it?

[he'd had hopes that maybe she might be able to do something about it but no dice there - it just bloody figured]

Me only question is whether it's harmless or some kind of trap.

Considering it's anti-scanning devices, I would wager trap.

[She's about to take a step to circle around underneath the mistletoe, but....her foot won't go. She growls and tries to lift her legs, to no avail.]

Definitely a trap - I'm bloody stuck!

Look, I know how these things work. Magic has rules. Stupid-arse rules, mind you, but rules all the same. You're supposed to kiss when under mistletoe so that's what we have to do.
