THE RANDOM SCENARIO MEME 3.0

- Post your character, name, and series in the subject. Include any preferences as well.
- Go to RNG and enter 1-7 for a scene type, and 1-20 for a scene to play out.
- Have fun!

TYPE OF SCENE.
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.
⑦ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!

ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.
④ Gun fight → You're caught in a big shoot-out.
⑤ Fight with a friend → You're fighting with a friend, all out.
⑥ Interrogation → You're being interrogated for some offense you've done.
⑦ Aliens → Aliens are attacking and you're not going to take your probe laying down!

⑬ Fight for honour → You've been disgraced or someone you care about has, so it's time to fight for honour.
⑭ Showdown → Time for a cowboy-style showdown. Whoever draws the fastest wins.
⑮ War → You're caught in the middle of a war here. Remember to keep your chin up and keeping fighting.
⑯ Apocalypse → The apocalypse finally happened and now you're left to scavenge and fight for whatever is left.
⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.

ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?
⑦ Breakup! → This relationship has gone as far as it can, it's time to breakup.
⑧ Broken → For whatever reason, the character is broken, mentally or or physically.
⑨ Fight → You can't even be in the same room as your friend or lover without arguing anymore.
⑩ Lost → You lost the biggest fight of your life and now all you can do is try to pick up the pieces.
⑪ Worst nightmare → Whatever you fear the most is now real or maybe you're just trapped in a dream together, but whatever it is, it feels too real.
⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.

CRACK.
① Sexswap → Uh-oh, you're suddenly the opposite sex!
② Forced confessions → No matter what it is and no matter how hard you resist, you're going to be compelled to spill some deep dark secret!
③ Mind-reading → You've suddenly got the ability to read minds!
④ Animal → You're suddenly part animal or transformed into an animal!
⑤ Awkward pick-up lines → You're compelled to use bad pickup lines on whoever is closest!
⑥ Back in School / Graduated → You're suddenly back in school! Or if you were already in it, you've aged and long since graduated!

⑰ To the future → Is it everything you've dreamed? Is it horrible? Whatever happens, you're here to witness what happens to you in the future. Either you take the place of your future self or you're just there to watch. Might cause some confusion if people start seeing double though...

FLUFF.

④ Costume party → You're at a costume party, both of you are wearing masks. Do you keep the anonymity or take it off and see whose company you've been enjoying?
⑤ Wrong number → Oops, actually you didn't mean to call that person...
⑥ Drunk → You're already drunk! Drunk dialing, stumbling into someone, showing up unexpected... what type of drunk are you anyway? Aggressive, loving, happy? How does the other react?

((I think both would depend in how long they'd been together, and when this is set relative to canon. I'd prefer to play it closer to canon; there's less stuff to make up that way.))

[Agreed, close to canon is good! I can't see Rei leaving Nagisa without good cause, but the question is should they bump into one another arbitrarily or should Nagisa seek him out at his place or something?]

((I can easily imagine Nagisa crossing some kind of line without even realizing it, then handling his reaction poorly when Rei calls him out on it. Awareness of others' feelings is nnnnnot Nagisa's strong suit. He would probably eventually seek Rei out to apologize, once someone ~~Makoto~~ spelled out for him in small words what he did wrong.))

It's not the first time Nagisa has pushed too hard in the wrong direction, though this incident has easily had the most dire of consequences. He's still not entirely convinced it's all his fault, but it's been long enough that being right isn't nearly as important as it was for the first few days.

He misses Rei. That's what's all-consumingly important now. He misses Rei, and Rei isn't going to take the first step; according to Mako-chan, it isn't his responsibility, and Nagisa can admit that Makoto is better at recognizing this sort of thing than he is.

(Nagisa isn't used to having to apologize, not when he can usually charm his way out of whatever damage he's done.)

So Nagisa is taking that first step instead, knocking on Rei's door and waiting for it to be answered.

Alone in his tiny apartment, Rei sat behind his modest desk, thumbing through a book. He’d read through it a time or two already, and perhaps that was the reason why he couldn’t seem to keep his focus on it. With every turned page, his mind slipped back into thoughts of his boyfriend.

…well, now ex-boyfriend, apparently.

Memories of their prior argument kept swimming through his mind. He’d earnestly, legitimately been angry with Nagisa; had said some things that, in retrospect, perhaps he shouldn’t have. They’d parted ways abruptly, and hadn’t spoken since. Though he had no previous experience to go by, he supposed this was what “breaking up” was like. It certainly felt that way. Felt like something was missing; felt... painful.

So Rei did what he knew to do to soothe it: Stuffed his nose in a book, and studied. It didn’t matter that it was extracurricular, or that he’d already memorized most of the theories in the text – he did it anyway. It did help... but only slightly.

A knock on the door calls his attention away, and he pushes to his feet before adjusting his glasses and answering it. The face on the other side is met with mixed emotions. “Nagisa-kun?”

He stiffens visibly, instinctively, a bit stunned and at a loss for what to do. He’s never quite mastered the theory behind saying “no” to Nagisa… or at least, it didn’t accommodate for expressions such as the one staring back at him now.

Finally, Rei sighs and backs away enough for the other to enter. “Come in.”

The moment between Rei opening the door and Rei letting him in seems to last forever; Nagisa doesn't know what he'll do if Rei shuts the door in his face.

When he doesn't, though, it's not as big a relief as it should be, not in the face of the importance of what comes next. The pressure to get it right is suddenly overwhelming. Now that he's actually in Rei's presence, he knows that he doesn't just want Rei back; he needs him. Nothing is right without Rei there. Why is he just doing this now?

Once he's inside, he doesn't waste any more time.

"I'm sorry, Rei-chan." There's a clear edge of desperation in his voice, but he doesn't care. It might even help.

Nagisa’s words elicit as much surprise as the unexpected visit itself, making Rei’s eyes widen a bit behind red-framed glasses. Once again he finds himself at a loss for what to do, torn completely, perfectly in twain between two emotions and the contrasting responses that go with each. While some part of him still clings to that residual anger and hurt, Rei still can’t deny feeling partly responsible for the whole mess. He reacted poorly in a situation where he could have been more graceful; more beautiful.

He turns away after seeing that expression on the other’s face, if only so it wouldn’t further cloud his judgment. Everything about the blond – from his voice to his body language, and everything in between – seems to convey sincerity. It tugs at Rei the way Nagisa’s presence always does; that same one-two suckerpunch to the softest spots even Rei himself was unaware he has. After a moment his head droops, a hand coming up to pin his glasses in their spot and simultaneously disguise a furrowed brow.

“I’m sorry, too,” he admits, quietly.

There's that wave of relief that was missing before, hitting him hard enough to bring tears to his eyes. He exhales in a whoosh that sounds like he's been holding his breath ever since their fight.

Rei-chan is talking to him, and Rei-chan is sorry, and that means everything is going to be okay.

"You don't have to be," he says quickly. "It was my fault."

Makoto took extra care to pound that into Nagisa's head: Take responsibility. You need to get better at that, Nagisa. It's important, important enough that he has to do it right now, before he even jumps on Rei-chan like he wants to, so that he doesn't forget.

(And he promised once, didn't he, that he would take responsibility for Rei?)

Rei's eyes flicker back over to Nagisa as soon as he speaks. Did he really just hear what he thought he did? He blinks once, twice. Then again. He might have been quick to doubt, but Nagisa's expression makes everything clear -- he's not just apologetic, he's earnest about it.

Rei's shoulders slump somewhat, as though whatever barrier they had represented has fallen; his expression softens visibly. "Still, I..." There's a pause, and a hand discreetly reaching out, seeking one of Nagisa's to hold. "I lost my temper, and I shouldn't have."

Rei's surprise is unexpectedly unsettling to Nagisa. Is he really that bad, that his taking full responsibility for hurting Rei is such a shock?

That's . . . that's not very pleasant to think about.

Nagisa swallows and grabs Rei's hand when it's offered, clinging tightly.

"It's okay," he says quietly. "I made you mad."

“You did,” Rei affirms quietly, eyes dropping for a moment. He adjusts his glasses yet again with his free hand before the other gives Nagisa’s fingers a squeeze. The whole situation got entirely blown out of proportion – that much is true. But, theoretically, is it really a bad thing that the little blond was able to get to him in such a way? Perhaps not. Perhaps instead it could be seen as a true testament to just how much he genuinely cares for Nagisa, since anyone else in the same scenario would have elicited a much different response.

“...But I know you didn’t mean to,” he continues finally. The face that looks up at the blond is brighter, gentler than before. “It’s okay, Nagisa-kun.”

The smile that lights up Nagisa's face at those words is bright, yes, but still a bit subdued compared to what one might expect from Nagisa in a moment like this.

But there is nothing subdued about the way he flings himself at Rei, wrapping his free arm around him tight and burying his face in the taller boy's shoulder.

"I missed you, Rei-chan," he says, slightly muffled.

Nearly knocked off balance, Rei brings a foot back to steady himself as Nagisa clings to him. It doesn’t take more than a moment beyond that for him to reciprocate the embrace, curling an arm around the smaller swimmer’s waist in reply.

This feels good – it feels natural, and right – and it’s at that moment he realizes exactly how much he agrees with the blond’s sentiment. Suddenly, the argument they’d shared seems incredibly trivial. To say the least, it definitely wasn’t worth losing this.

“I missed you, too,” he whispers in reply, feeling the words in his chest as he speaks them. Only Nagisa has the power to do that to him; to elicit such profound responses that even words couldn’t quite articulate. His smile brightens and broadens, the thumb on the smaller boy’s body stroking back and forth discreetly.

Nagisa's spirits lift further as Rei wraps his arm around him. Words are one thing, but gestures and physical contact have always meant more to Nagisa. Even if Rei hadn't said a single thing, this would have been enough to tell Nagisa a million times over that he's forgiven.

He keeps his face against Rei's shoulder for a moment longer, savoring the warmth and closeness and Rei. Then he looks up.

"I won't do it again," he promises earnestly. And, given his basic personality, a bit rashly. But he means it. He'd thought he'd understood what he'd done when Mako-chan explained it, how he'd behaved badly and hurt Rei and owed him an apology. But he hadn't understood it, not properly, not until Rei had looked so surprised at Nagisa's insisting on taking full responsibility.

Now he understands, and now he knows he doesn't want to do that again, not ever.

Rei's eyes close in a long blink as he gives a small nod, "I know."

What he knows is that Nagisa is human, and so despite all best efforts, things can still happen. He knows that, in that case, it's up to him to handle things more logically, more beautifully next time. That's the important part.

Hand still on the small of Nagisa's back, he gently tugs the shorter boy into a hug, then presses a discreet kiss to his hair. Between the admission of fault and his earnest promise to learn from the mistake, Rei's resolve has melted away entirely. For the first time since their fight, he's warm inside again. Nothing in his daily routine - in his life at all, really - had seemed normal without that chipper persona and smiling face.

"I'm glad you came back," he whispers. Honestly, when days passed without contact, he'd thought that meant the end of things. It's a relief to know he was wrong.

Nagisa tingles with pleasure when Rei kisses his hair - not physical pleasure, but emotional satisfaction. That kind of little caress, he has learned, is Rei-chan's way of being demonstrative. He's also learned how to appreciate it, to savor it whenever it happens. And right now, it feels extra special.

He wraps himself around Rei tightly. Probably a little too tightly, but he doesn't care. He'll ease up in a minute. Or two. Or as soon as he can.

(Or when Rei complains.)

"I had to," he says, looking up. "Nothing was right without Rei-chan."

Rei loses his breath a bit when that surprisingly strong grip takes hold, but he doesn’t do a thing to hinder it. It’s one of the many things that make up Nagisa’s impetuous nature – so different from his own, and yet so beautifully complimentary. It’s exactly what Rei never knew he needed, until now. He meets those big, bright eyes with his own, cheeks blushing slightly at the blond’s words.

...And then the rest of his face gains some color, too. His expression shifts, brow furrowing somewhat.

“Nagisa-kun,” he whispers hoarsely, patting Nagisa on the back as a sort of signal, “I can’t breathe.”
