The Happy Ending Meme (or) The Person I Need Meme
The Happy Ending Meme -or- The Person I Need Meme ![]() |
Boy, the characters we love sure go through a lot, don't they? Epic battles, crapsack worlds, evil villains...or maybe they are the evil villains, no judgement here...or the terrible dreck of mundane living. It's rough out there. And don't even get me started on romantic relationships! It's dead love interests and forever alones all around if it's not will-they-won't-they shenanigans. Now, it's time to kill those two birds with one stone. Yes, that's right. Your characters will be getting the happy ending that they deserve (or don't, whichever), with the person they need to make them happy. Or as happy as they can be. The catch? Well, what you want isn't always what you need. Maybe your character's idea of their happy ending, I.E. being surrounded by the corpses of their dead enemies, isn't exactly the most healthy of things. Instead, what they'll be getting is what will lead them into being a more stable person in the long run. But who knows? If your character's ideal is domestic bliss, that may be what they get...if's that what they need. The same thing applies to the person they've come together with, somehow, the person who will share their happy ending with. Your character's mouth may say their dream girl is "buxom stripper who will follow my every whim," but what they REALLY need to ground them is a nice girl who won't put up with their crap, or someone kind but plain - You get the picture. Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first; sometimes, the first thing you want never comes. But that doesn't mean your ending can't be happy. HOW TO PLAY

They also need to have a high tolerance for disorganized chaos. ]

Mohinder pulls over a stool and politely motions for Newt to get out of the way so that he can look into the microscope.
"We simply don't have enough data and are far too ethical to attempt to cross human and kaiju DNA." Right, Newt? Please tell Mohinder that even you have limits? The possibilities of doing more than just producing Chinese medicines from kaiju bone is important science, but their samples are finite with the breach closed.

He tossed his hands up into the air, and he rolled his eyes off to the side. "I think if we do this, we could have a breakthrough for a number of things. I don't think we need to rattle them off again. And Chinese medicines have sometimes had some proven effect to be beneficial to medical science."
Newt went and leaned over Mohinder's shoulder, and reached for a pen with his free hand. "And I'm not talking about a cure for erectile dysfunction."

The trouble is, he has a bad time saying no to people. And the excitement of others just makes him excited too.
"Opening up this research could be disastrous in the wrong hands," he cautions, turning on the wheeled stool under the pressure at his shoulder. "For as much good it can do, imagine the consequences!" But Newt doesn't think like that and Mohinder, of course, gives him. "Oh... All right, we can at least test it in theory... Let me set up some slides."

He did worry about the research getting out there into the streets, and if Chau got a hold of his research, he would hate to think of what would happen. An army of super humans? Drugs? Newt thought to himself, and he sighed. "You got a very good point, but I think with it being in one of the safest places on the planet, there is no chance of anyone taking it." He tried to reassure himself despite Mohinder's sound logic.
He lowered his hands, and he knew if Hermann had been there that day he'd be told he was out of his mind. The fact was he is out of his mind. "Theory, I want this to become something more than a theory!" He hurried to get some of the slides setup.
