Tour of New York Meme
➲ tour of new york meme
➲ where?
➊ ManhattanDefinitely New York's most well-known borough! Whether you're walking up and down Broadway, taking up too much space in Times Square, haggling in Chinatown, chilling out in a club on the Lower East Side, getting a bite in Harlem, touring an art gallery at Chelsea, skating around the ice rink at Central Park... when you're here, it's never a dull moment.
➋ BrooklynBrooklyn, the most populous of the boroughs of New York, boasts Prospect Park, Green-Wood cemetery, gorgeous neighborhoods like Park Slope and Clinton Hill and DUMBO, Pratt Institute... Don't forget to walk across the bridge, and definitely give Coney Island a shot (if you're willing to pay $16 to ride the Cyclone, anyway.)
➌ QueensQueens is known as the most diverse urban area in the world, from the heavily Greek Astoria to the huge African-American and Caribbean population of Jamaica. 138 different languages are spoken in Queens! Flushing Meadows is home to the Mets, it's got the biggest Chinatown of the entirety of New York, and if you're taking a flight, both of New York City's airports are here. Just don't get lost, because whoever designed the street names in Queens was a sadist.
➍ The BronxSeparated from the isle of Manhattan by the Harlem river, the Bronx is the top of New York City and has some of its most beautiful open parks. You should check out Fordham Road, the Grand Concourse, and Yankee Stadium. It's also got the New York Botanical Gardens and the Bronx zoo.
➎ Staten Island...Right, so I know absolutely nothing about Staten Island and you probably shouldn't either.
➏ Surrounding AreaWhether you're coming in from Jersey, Westchester, Connecticut, or Long Island, you're basically part of the NYC family. Yes, begrudgingly even Jersey. Or maybe you're going out to the Hamptons for the summer, maybe you're taking the bus to Atlantic City. Wait, is the Statue of Liberty officially part of Jersey?
➐ OtherMaybe your home's in the city, but you just need a break from all the hubbub. That's fine, we're 99 miles from Philly, about 200 to Boston or DC, and there's a whole lot of pretty upstate to go visit.
➲ why?
➊ TourismHear me out, being a tourist in New York is actually kind of fun, even if the locals aren't too nice to you. If you don't stand in the middle of the sidewalk with your subway map out, they're actually known to be quite pleasant!
➋ EntertainmentDo go see something on Broadway, or off Broadway, or check out a concert, camp out in front of SNL, annoy an entire film crew by snapping pictures of the set...
➌ Special EventIs it New Years? Maybe you're here to see the Halloween Parade in the East Village. Maybe you're here for Pride! Or maybe there's just some sort of street festival going on, 'cause there usually is. There's always some sort of event happening, so drag a friend along.
➍ Hanging OutNew York has some of the best restaurants in the world, a lot of museums that operate on whatever-you-want-to-donate, tons of parks (including the High Line), lots of art galleries, and millions of shops. Check out the Union Square farmer's market, bike around Greenpoint, have a picnic in one of New York's very many public plazas!
➎ Daily ThingsTry cart food, and truck food, hate your laundromat, call your super because the pipes in your apartment just burst. Or help a friend move into their new apartment and then sit on top of boxes and eat $1 slices of pizza. Did you just see that guy stop in the middle of the street and pull down his pants to show a lady how her dog just bit him? Yeah, well. Welcome to New York!
➏ In TransitIt's the weekend, so you got on the A train thinking you could get to High Street. Big mistake. Get on the 6 during rush hour? I hope you like being in someone else's armpit. Try not to get on the wrong side of the platform and end up in Harlem when you meant to go to Brooklyn.
➐ OtherWith so much to do in the city, I'm sure you could come up with something else to put here.
