That's the first time I heard that comparison! Now that I think about it, his hair now makes him look like a cockatoo, huh?

[ She looked at Kaminari's own hair, which was also defying gravity at the top like Yamada's. ]

Thinking of growing your hair out like his?

Yeah! [Kaminari laughs.] I bet he could dye it and look like a bird of paradise or something. If he needs ideas for a Halloween costume, I've got plenty!

[But the idea of doing his own hair that way?] No way! [Kaminari says, looking totally offended and bewildered.] I mean, if I grow it out I'm gonna do something cool like a ponytail, not a.... a bird!

[ She arched a brow at him mischievously. ]

You don't think he's cool?

Cool...? [Kaminari makes a bit of a constipated face as he thinks about it.] I mean, I guess? Like don't get me wrong, he definitely has his fans. But he's also my English teacher, you know?

So does that mean I'm not cool just because I'm your teacher?

[ Bracing her hands on her hips in mock offense. Gasp! ]

Oh shit. [He really walked right into this one, didn't he? Kaminari is quick to wave his hands, as though it'll erase away what he just said.]

No way, you're really, really cool! I mean, you know...

[He's a 16 year old boy, she's an 18+ hero - it's not hard to do the math there.]

See, this is exactly what I meant - you were just flattering me earlier! You're definitely the love 'em and leave 'em type.

[ She gave Kaminari a teasing, amused grin, but he was spared from further ribbing because they finally reached the counter. A lunchlady bot waited to take her order. ]

What do you have?

You can order anything you want, [ said the bot. ]

[ Nemuri's eyes grew wide. ] Anything?

[ The bot looked at her derisively. ] You humans are so slow. Lunch Rush can make anything you want.

[ Nemuri paid the sassy bot no mind, her eyes now sparkling. ] Chicken curry with lots of vegetables!

[ The robot took her order and directed her to the end of the counter, where students were claiming their lunches.

Nemuri turned to Kaminari, looking thrilled with what had just happened. ]

This is so exciting!

[Kaminari watched the exchange between Midnight and the lunchlady bot with sparkling eyes, totally amused. But it was only a few months ago that he'd been in the same situation, so he could totally relate to the awe she was feeling.]

Right?! [He agreed, after ordering his own food. Kaminari managed to quell the urge for a burger today, and went with yakisoba. He met Midnight again, and when he looked at her, he frowned thoughtfully.]

Have you gotten taller in the last 10 minutes?

[ Nemuri moved down the line to get her curry, and it came out within a few minutes, perfectly made, with a lot of vegetables - just as she liked it. ]

Have I?

[ She realized she now recalled her graduation, as well as the start of her Pro Hero career. ]

I must've. I can remember getting into the business now. I'm now officially a Pro Hero!

Whoa. [He picked up his food and followed her out, eyes wide. Kaminari tilted his head towards her.] Doesn't that hurt? You're like, growing up super fast. And does it mean you're gonna remember all of this?

Yeah, I was worried about that too - the police told me that it was gonna be worse if I went back to being a kid, but since I'm almost full grown now, it won't be so bad.

[ Nemuri looked around before glancing at Kaminari. ]

Got a regular table?

[Kaminari's definitely concerned at the thought of rapid growing pains, but since Midnight assures him it won't be so bad, and then changes the subject, he forgets it pretty quickly.]

Huh? Yeah! My classmates and I sit by that back window. [He gestures with his chin, since his hands are full.] You should sit with us! Though I guess most people in this room are your students, too, so you can sit wherever. We're the coolest though.

I thought you were my favorite student?

[ Nemuri tossed her hair back (it already looked like it had grown just a bit longer) and gave him an amused smile. ]

Makes sense I'd stick with you if that were the case.

[He grinned shamelessly and started trotting over to his table.]

That's fair! And now you'll get to re-meet all my cool friends. Oh, and Bakugou. Uh, be careful. He's got a tendency to explode..

[ Nemuri followed after Kaminari, the crowds once again parting to make way for them. It was amazing how one year after graduation already made such a big difference - Nemuri looked more mature somehow. ]

Explode?

[ She glanced at Kaminari questioningly. ] Literally?

Uh huh. [Kaminari agrees as they get to the table. No one else is there yet, so they have it to themselves for the time being.] It's his quirk and his personality. Sounds charming, huh?

[He laughs and takes his seat.] Don't worry, though. You're a teacher, so he probably won't mess with you.

There's at least one in every year, it looks like.

[ It was easy for some people to get big-headed, especially if they had Quirks that made them almost invincible. Thankfully none of her friends had High and Mighty Syndrome.

Nemuri took a seat, breathing in the delicious aroma of her lunch. ]

Eh, if I know people like that, they'll mess with anyone if they can get away with it.

See, that's the weird thing. [Kaminari starts slowly, grabbing for a pair of chopsticks.] He's such a nerd when it comes to some things? Like, he goes to bed at 8 pm everyday, he always does homework the day it's assigned, never talks back to a teacher no matter how annoyed he is... it's super bizarre!

Aside from respecting authority, it's probably because he knows he can't get away with it. I'm sure Principal Nezu hired the teachers for a reason!

[ Nemuri was right on the money with that. There was also a reason that plenty of the teachers had Quirks that could easily stop students in their tracks. Between Nemuri's Somnambulist, Aizawa's Eraser, and Vlad King's Blood Control, it would be easy for them to handle students whose Quirks went out of control.

She took a bite of her curry, her eyes going wide. ]

This is so good! How did we never have Lunch Rush when we were students? We'd actually eat in the cafeteria if he was here!

[Kaminari waves his hand.] It'll make more sense when you meet him. He's like. A weird, cool, angry nerd. Somehow all at once.

[After she takes her first bite, Kaminari smiles watching Midnight's face light up.] Isn't it amazing? Was Lunch Rush around as a hero when you were younger?

Yeah? He sounds interesting.

[ Little did she know was that he was the first student of their class she'd put to sleep with Somnambulist. ]

Sadly, no. We had a regular cafeteria. [ Nemuri took another spoonful of curry and rice with relish. ] We had to eat there, though, so some of us brought our own lunches...

[ She grinned. ] That's how I met Aizawa, Yamada, and Shirakumo. They were sneaking out to eat on the rooftop instead of at the cafeteria, and I caught them.

I guess interesting's one word for it. [He agrees with a giggle. And then Midnight says something that makes Kaminari's jaw drop.]

Aizawa-sensei? He broke school rules?? But he's such a stickler!

Huh.

[ Nemuri grinned. Yeah, Aizawa did have a phase where he broke the rules... but it wasn't because he was being a rebel, but rather because he was indifferent to them. However, once Nemuri reached graduation and after she went Pro... ]

Things kind of changed, yeah. I mean, he's never been the type to care about rules unless they're really important, anyway - then he's super strict about them.

[ There was something sad about the way she spoke about it, because what made Aizawa change was something serious. ]

But why? What happened? People don't usually just change like that... do they? Is that what happens when you grow up? Aizawa-sensei doesn't even really care about things like "being proper," considering his looks and his sleeping bags everywhere. But when it comes to other rules, he's a total hard-ass!

[ Nemuri looked down at her plate before sighing. There was no point in hiding it, since Kaminari was part of the Hero Course. That meant he knew what he was in for when he joined U.A.. ]

Our friend died.

Aizawa doesn't care about things like being proper or looking good, but after that, he trained even harder and really pushed himself to be the best hero he could be. I guess now he's thinking he'll be super strict on you guys because your training's what's gonna save you and other people in the end.
