( Alrighty! Let me know if this works for you! )

[Life passes Peter by in a variety of shades of gray. It always has, and at this point he's pretty sure it always will. Maybe that's just the pessimist in him talking. The only color he has is blue; Uncle Ben's eyes were blue, as are, apparently, his soulmate's. Sometimes he'll get a stray fleck of green, like someone's only shaded in part of the grass. The first thing he'll do, if he ever meets them? Apologize for the boring brown they've had to live with.

Most stories went like this: you didn't get your color until your soulmate was born - you also lost it when they died. All you had was their eye color until one day you met them, you made eye contact and wham! Full technicolor life. Peter kept waiting for that wayward glance across the checkout line at the grocer, but no dice. His life wasn't a cheesy soul match movie, it was more like a shitty amateur recreation of a B action movie.

Peter's had his color since he was born. All things considered, blue is a pretty sweet color. It's in the sky, the rivers - the back of Captain America's uniform, as Peter flips past.

He's never met the guy, off the battlefield. He hasn't met any of the big names, really. He does have a secret identity he tries to keep, you know. Besides, they don't tend to stick around for the clean up, after the big fights, and if Peter is crossing their path it's usually something huge. Take today, for example. There are Doombots literally everywhere, which Peter was slowly but surely chasing out of Midtown. Of course, the source was Avengers tower; they were swarming it, really. It didn't look too good.

Peter tied two bots together with webbing and kicked them into the ground, landing in a roll a few feet away from Steve. It's hand to hand for a minute there, covering Steve's six - Widow was there a second ago, but she's run off to do whatever it is she's got to do, and to be honest Peter is getting a little tired. Closing ranks isn't a terrible idea, as ideas go.]

I miss the good ol' days when villains would come out and fight you instead of sending you an endless horde. Seriously, how much do you think this army costs?

[This is perfect]

{Seeing nothing but brown for over 70 years had dulled Steve to the teasing he'd gotten from Bucky and the other Commandos. Teasing had become a fact of life and Steve did his best to let it roll off his back. It had been upsetting to wake up from the ice and still see nothing but brown. Maybe that's why he took a lesson from Tony and hid behind snark and his boy scout persona. He tossed his shield at another set of Doombots and laughed at Spiderman's comment. The kid had the ability to lift his spirits.]

Gotta do something to keep yourself from being bored I guess. There are better things to do with unlimited wealth then try to kill half a city, but Doom kind of thinks with his heart rather than his brain some days. You okay there kid?

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
How is destroying the city any more fun when you're sitting at home? C'mon, Doom, come out and punch me!

[Peter jumps on top of one of the bots, hanging on with his legs as he rips the thing apart. His fighting style is kind of a mess, an amalgamation of a bunch of different styles he picked up off the street. He's lucky he has his spidey sense, or he'd hardly be able to keep up.]

Somehow I feel like he has neither of those things. He's the reject from the yellow brick road, dude.

[Peter jumps back, momentarily clear of the bots, and takes a second to breathe. He's fine, all things considered; he's not bleeding, but he is getting a little slower than usual. It's only a matter of time before one of them really lands more than a glancing blow.] How about you, Cap?

[Steve grins at Spiderman more at ease in the middle of a battle then he is just hanging out in the tower late at night. People always accused him of being unable to live without a war and standing right here in the middle of one and feeling the high he was beginning to wonder if they were right. Maybe he was seeing brown because this was all there was. He threw his shield again and watched it crash into another six bots knocking them down and then returning to him. He settled it back onto his arm and patted the young hero on the shoulder.]

I could go all getting sleepily there Queens?

spideyguy: (78)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That thing is seriously terrifying.

[Peter nodded to the shield, more than willing to admit his fascination with it. It had to be something in the way Steve was throwing it; no metal could move like that, right? Ridiculous (and awesome, I mean, come on, it's Captain America).]

Of course you could, you're a tank. [Peter bounced on the balls of his feet, glancing towards the tower; it seemed Iron Man was slowly but surely piercing the layer of bots to get back inside. Probably be able to deactivate them all with his tech in there.] Hey, your side of the river ain't nothin' to write home about.

Steve rolled his eyes used to this friendly back and forth between himself, Spiderman and Daredevil. There was just something about living in New York that brought out the competitive side in people from the various boroughs. The rest of the Avengers didn't really get it, but it was fun for those heroes that did to join in from time to time.]

At least we have a winning baseball team until they moved to LA. That was fun news to wake up to. As for my shield it may seem terrifying but in the wrong hands it's like a Laurel and Hardy prop. Seriously though kid slow down. Let some other people get a few hits in.

spideyguy: (76)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[To be fair, Daredevil usually didn't win. Come on, Hell's Kitchen? Not exactly the best neighborhood by anyone's standards. Still, there was something about being a native that only made sense to other natives. You could pick them out of a crowd, with no discernable reason why. Peter didn't have much of an accent unless he was talking too fast, or getting irritated. He hadn't heard much of one from Steve either, except maybe towards the end of his sentences, on occasion.]

Well we have the best Key Lime pie in the state. And we still have that. [Peter snorted, raising an eyebrow underneath his mask, though Steve couldn't see it.] I bet you thought I wouldn't know what that was but my Uncle saw them in '57, so joke's on you. [Peter was not in the business of being out-quipped. Well, mostly. Steve would probably be able to get him on something.]

I don't see anyone else on this block, Cap. They're closing around the tower.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-27 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)

[Steve out right laughed at this. Even as he was working out a plan to break the Doombot sit in around the tower.},

57's doesn't count Robinson was gone by then and they got lucky. Dammit...I really wish I could see something other than's hard to plan when most of the world looks a muddy grey.

[His laughter was now a huff of frustration as he started running.]

70 years and you would think I could see some color.

spideyguy: (77)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Brown, huh? [Peter started swinging beside him, large arcs of web allowing him to keep pace with Steve. Who was really quite fast, actually, for a runner. Damn.] I've got blue.

Gotta make eye contact with 'em, dude. You should start frequenting parks. [Ten million people in this city. The universe didn't give you somebody you weren't going to cross paths with, but as Peter has whined discussed many times with his Aunt, New York is one helluva large path.] No sunglasses, either. Doesn't work.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-27 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)

Kinda hard when most of the people I know wear masks and I know it's not an Avenger because I've made eye contact with most of them. eyes are blue. I'd ask what color yours are but I know the rules so I'm not gonna.

[Steve gets an idea and looks up at the swinging Spiderman as if assessing something.]

You think you could toss me using your webbing Spidey?

spideyguy: (80)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well maybe if you asked nicely, the Devil would let you peek. [Peter chuckled, imagining whoever the hell got to reign that guy in every night.] Very blue, actually. Like the sky. [What? Just cause he's never had eyeball-to-eyeball contact didn't mean he couldn't see what color Steve's eyes were. They were deeper, clearer, than Uncle Ben's softer blue. Gwen's had been in between, with a mixture of green - he could only see some of the green, though, the rest was grey. If he'd been able to look closely enough, he'd see the green in Steve's, too.]

Oh absolutely. I could throw an airplane with this stuff. [He's really not kidding.] You sure you want me to sling you? I could just carry you up.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-27 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)

[Steve is suddenly wishing he could see behind Spiderman's mask. There had been a lot of speculation of who the kid was and he had a sneaking feeling Tony knew, but the secret identity rule was there for a reason and Steve was gonna respect it.]

No I need the momentum. These bots are easy to knock down and if I hit them with enough speed and force I think I can either take them all down or make us an entry point to clear out the rest.

spideyguy: (10)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-27 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Peter would be the first to admit he was a little paranoid about it. Every time someone found out who he was, another person he loved died. So yeah, he kept his identity a secret, which kept Aunt May a secret, too. And who knows, maybe one day he'll end up a full-fledged Avenger. But for right now, with the casual team ups? Peter's just Spiderman, a faceless spider guy.]

Let me get this straight. [Peter landed beside Steve in a crouch, at the end of the block.] You want to use yourself as a battering ram. Dude.

[With anybody else, it would be a laughable move, but it's Captain Freaking America, and that shield is ridiculous. Peter grins instead, turning the knob on his webshooter.] Let's do it.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)

[Steve nods and he takes a minute to figure out the best way to go about making what he wants to do happen.}

Not one of my better ideas I know, but it's the best one I've got. I'll start running and on three you web my arms and fling me as hard as you can at the it?

spideyguy: (76)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
When you reach the lampost. [Peter pointed to the lampost just next to them. He'd aim to hit Steve there and send him flying.] You sure you want me to throw you as hard as I can?

[With Steve's momentum and Peter's strength combined...he's gonna be a torpedo.]
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)

[Steve nodded]

Don't hold back kid. I'm tough and I'll heal faster then these guys can. Just point and toss okay?

Steve starts running for the lamppost counting as he goes so that he hits three right as he reaches it]

spideyguy: (99)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Peter nods, a little apprehensive but hey - Steve knew what he was doing. If he didn't, well, at least it would look cool?

Peter aimed carefully, fingers poised on the button to depress the webbing, and he fired as Steve hit three. The webbing shot out, sticking to the back of Steve's uniform and Peter spun, using all of his strength to hurl Steve up into the air. Damn, the guy's built like a boulder; Peter would swear he heard his shoulder creak.]
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)

[Steve flew through the air and pointed his feet so that when he hit the first Doombot he hit it like a semitruck and then some, then he kept going smashing into the next Doombot and the next until he finally landed on his knees and used his shield to smash one of the last two.]

Nice throw Spidey...nailed them spot on.

spideyguy: (12)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Peter had swung up into the air after him, following through the plowed line and taking down a few bots of his own. He was right, that looked totally cool. Now they had a path through to the tower, and Tony flew inside, repulsors blasting. They'd have the doombots completely offline in just a few minutes.]

Not so bad yourself, Cap.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)

Steve salutes the younger hero.]

I had a great partner and one who didn't yell at me for doing something clearly too stupid to attempt. Which actually happens more than you would think.

spideyguy: (9)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw shucks. [Peter grins, taking out another bot, dragging it into his feet with a line of webbing.] Stupid is as stupid does.
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)

Don't knock yourself kid, I can't understand half of what you and Stark talk about, but you are anything but stupid. Gun shy yeah, stupid no.

spideyguy: (47)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'm not knockin'. It worked, didn't it?

Gun shy? Damn, saw straight through my perfectly crafted humorous facade. Whatever will I do? [Peter landed against the side of the tower, looking around for more Doombots. They seemed to be forming their last attack, as Tony worked whatever magic he had to in order to take them out.]
feels_taller: (Default)

[personal profile] feels_taller 2016-06-29 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)

Let down your guard a little maybe? Look I know this isn't the time or the place to talk about this but, relax a little with us kid. The Avengers get the whole being a hero thing better then you'd think.

[Steve throws his shield and watches it clang off a bot]

Speaking as a guy who spent 70 years on ice life is too dammed short to hide.

spideyguy: (44)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-29 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure you do. Way better than I do, man. [He's not being sarcastic. Peter sighs a little, launching himself at another bot.] And it's not that I don't trust you. But you've got all sorts of people gunning for you, and I have to protect - there are people I have to protect. [Only one person, now.]

Maybe I'll let you buy a pie, Cap. Deal? [Not in the tower, though, with the thousands of cameras.]
