Mating Season ([personal profile] matingseason) wrote in [community profile] bakerstreet2016-04-23 09:28 pm

not an alpha/beta/omega meme

There's no need for elaborate backstories for this AU. You go into heat, rut, whatever you'd like to call it. You've always done so since you were of age to do so. It's a socially accepted norm, and people have gotten used to the difficulties that come with the mating seasons. Life goes on.

Isn't this alpha/beta/omega, then? No, not at all. In this meme, there are no gender-variant genitalia unless your character comes prepackaged with those. No giant cocks - again, unless your character is already packing - or self-lubricating assholes or anal wombs, and no knotting. Unless that's your thing. There's also no set in stone roles with regards to dominance and submission, and some people do not even feel the inclination towards either. Still, there are a few similarities, mainly being that the pheromones of others can put someone into heat that was not in it before and the bond between mates. In addition, some humans/human-stand-ins have created packlike dynamics in response, but this is not universal.

In this meme, it's just regular old human...oids feeling the urge for sex. And by "urge," we of course mean all-consuming drive. If characters choose to ignore that urge, it will backfire on them. The more they put it off, the more they will lose their control, becoming more irritable and aggressive, and eventually be nothing but a rutting animal until the need to mate is satisfied. Not all heats call for mating, of course, and most people can just relieve themselves, but when you do mate, you feel the urge to stay by their side and essentially "nest." These desires don't always pan out into offspring, and mating isn't forever unless it's mutually decided upon. However, impregnating your mate is said to be one of the most euphoric experiences a person can have, even if some people only mate because they want to utterly possess someone, as mates are bonded for a while.

If there's anything that's to your fancy that's been left out, go ahead and add it in. Play it how you'd like!

  • Comment with your character and preferences.

  • Include what you're interested and not interested in.

  • Respond to others!

  1. first heat: Baby's first heat. YOU'RE A TEENAGER/LATE BLOOMER AND WHAT IS THIS?

  2. old hand: You've done this a million times, but it never gets any easier.

  3. happen to be here: You're not picky. You can't afford to be. You'll take anybody who's nearby.

  4. old faithful: You're going to the person you always go to in order to relieve your problem.

  5. worked something out: The two of you aren't involved. You just help each other out.

  6. unexpected: You never expected to rut with this person, but here you are.

  7. forbidden: AKA the obligatory incest or age difference option.

  8. volunteer: You've offered yourself up out of the kindness of your heart.

  9. tribute: This isn't your offer. You're the offer from others, a gift for someone powerful to sate their appetite.

  10. mating: You've decided to go one step further and make your relationship deeper.

  11. nesting: Aaah, (temporary) domestic bliss. And lots of fucking. Lots and lots of fucking. Like, you'll barely be able to stand.

  12. bonding: The bond, which is mildly psychic and intensely physical, makes sex even more intense.

  13. the natural conclusion: Heat calls for pregnancy. Get someone pregnant.

  14. already pregnant: Unfortunately, being knocked up doesn't abate your partner's desires. Or yours.

  15. mates for life: Now you're absolutely certain that you want to be with no one else. Of course, this means you'll be in synch with their heat for the rest of forever.

  16. save you: You've been saved from the advances of an undesired mate by someone who may be much more suited. Show your gratitude?

  17. cockfight: Two people want the same mate. That won't do. There are ways to figure that out, not always involving fists.

  18. increase in dominance: Exactly what it says.

  19. increase in submission: Again, exactly what it says.

  20. unexpected dominance: No one expects you to ever be dominant. Prove them wrong.

  21. protect: You want to protect your mate from others, and that means putting your scent all over them.

  22. set off by someone else: You were doing fine until you got a whiff of someone else's pheromones.

  23. resisting temptation: Your heart belongs to someone. You want to stay out of this "heat" thing. You want to rise above it. Whatever it may be, you just have to not take the bait. Easier said than done.

  24. all worked up: You're beginning to lose control and yourself. Quick, do something before you're jumping anything that moves.

  25. pack: As mentioned prior, some people, especially those far out from civilization proper, have formed packs that hold to the more traditional alpha structure. Of course, these packs come with their own rules when it comes to heat and mating.

  26. suitable partner: The desire for certain mates can come from a subconscious level, and you can find yourself aroused by someone showing how strong they are (they can protect you), how curvaceous they look (that must mean they're fertile), or any other number of traits that can benefit you.

  27. desperation: You'll take anyone! Anything!

  28. final release: You've reached your breaking point and your mindless. At least you'll get relief.

  29. fighter: Part of your process is seeing who's worthy of you by testing their mettle. That, or you want to fight anything.

  30. off your meds: It's fairly rare, but some can get blockers for their heat. What if those blockers run out? Why, it makes your heat ten times worse!

  31. noncon: They don't want this. You don't want to stop this.

  32. dubcon: You say no, but your body says yes and you can't stop loving it.

  33. calm you down: Whether it's to fuck or to fight, you're going mad, and they have to bring you back down to Earth.

  34. territorial: How dare someone look at what belongs to you? You'll have to make things right.

  35. odd man out: For some reason, you don't go into heat. Never have. Being with you is pretty relaxing, and some find it appealing to not have to deal with pheromones that aren't theirs. You do have to learn how to appreciate their problems, though.

[If you've seen the Librarian(s), it's kinda similar. Super-secret organization collects artifacts with powers that are dangerous to be left around. The kind of place you'd put the Ark of the Covenant, Pandora's Box, or Poseidon's trident, the last two of which were in episodes. Basically, they find things that were imbued with energy due to events or situations that are ruining people's day and take care of it.

She could be both picking up some of the college credits she needs to get a degree to qualify for the Secret Service and checking into some of the superhero-y stuff that's happened to NYC lately. I can probably cook something up for them.]

[ooc: a little, but the stuff they collect is human in origin. Things that have taken on powers due to belief or strength of personality. A famous mesmerist's chair being able to induce people to act on their fantasies or dark desires, for example. One I liked that was on the cutting room floor was the idea that the microphone Adolf Hitler used at the Berlin Olympics can allow anyone using it to convince people to go along with them no matter what they might rationally think.]

One thing she'd really disliked about this assignment was that she couldn't bring her meds. Pheromone blockers and suppressants just weren't normally available, and no college student could afford them. It would have attracted possible notice if she didn't cycle normally like everyone else, and half her job with the Warehouse was being the right kind of invisible. About the only safety net she had been allowed was an off-campus apartment to herself.

Most days, that was a mild annoyance because of the distance she had to travel to get to a neighborhood the image she presented could afford, today, it was torture. The first inkling had started partway through one of her engineering classes when it seemed like every horndog in the room was at attention, just waiting. She'd barely felt the heat tickling at the edges of her mind, but she had to get out, get somewhere she could stay until the worst had passed. And yet, it seemed like every guy and even some girls were trying to be the one to take advantage of her vulnerability.

The subway was out, so she walked, one hand inside her purse around the handle of her mini-Tesla, for what little protection that gun would give her. She'd just ducked down one of her favorite shortcuts when she realized her mistake. Claudia was surrounded by a bunch of toughs who weren't the kind to take no for an answer.

Peter wasn't exactly having the best day either. It had ups and downs, for sure. He was late for class, skidding down the hallways of ESU with a plastic bag of cereal clamped between his teeth, sprinting into his molecular modeling lecture. This was partially mitigated by the A he got back on his quiz, bless.

He spent the majority of the afternoon, after his morning classes, at the bookstore, making minimum wage while people bitched at him about what they carried. If he could get a better job, one more stable than the pictures he sold, he damn well would. He'c been thinking about a Stark Internship for a while, because like hell was he going back to Oscorp, but he still hadn't applied.

Peter's shift ended and he managed to relax a bit, heading into an alleyway to change into his suit. Nothing like a quick patrol to lift your spirits. He's feeling pretty good, stopping a quick carjacking, when his senses blare at him to head into the next alleyway. It's not just his spider senses, though - his hormones are flaring, something he's not due for till next week.

"Who the hell raised you guys?" He hangs upside down from the flickering lamp on the side of the building, taking in the scene. Nasty group of guys cornering a young lady who looked like she wasn't going down without a fight. "I should call animal control and let them know a herd of wildebeests have found their way into the city."

Claudia couldn't help a start of surprise at the appearance of one of New York's infestation of superheroes. Aside from Stark's suits, there hadn't been anything to worry the Warehouse so far, but being rescued when she was, well, vulnerable had not been anywhere on her list of things to do in the City. She was ready to fight, but there was always the possibility of things getting confused, especially if she let anyone in arm's reach.

A couple of guys had started to back up at Spider-man's involvement, but they hadn't really been into it in the first place. The others, though, were all acting like they were suffering from a major case of testosterone poisoning.

"And to think I left my cattle prod back in South Dakota. Maybe this will do," she said, pulling the gun-like object free from her purse. To the uninitiated, it looked like something you might bring to a steampunk convention or maybe a prop from some 50's TV sci-fi serial. Not to mention it was the size of a derringer, the toy of the gun world. Still, it would be able to render them unconscious, which she was more than willing to demonstrate if things kept escalating. Set to spray, the bolts of lightning it spewed out would certainly catch nearly all of them.

"Seems like the lady doesn't want you to carry her books home, gentlemen." Peter flipped himself right-side up on the pole, swinging his legs. A few webs disabled the men trying to escape - they were accessories to attempted rape, no matter what the woman's hormones were doing.

He shifted a little uncomfortably on the pole, but while her hormones were pretty strong - okay, they were really strong, was this her first heat or something? - Peter had some self-control.

"Fire at will, Captain." Peter salutes her, tilting his head in question. He certainly wasn't going to stop her if she wanted to shoot her crazy awesome gun. He didn't mind playing back-up with a few webs here and there.

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
She did just that, and if the voltage was a little higher than strictly necessary, well, they had tried to take advantage of her condition. Claudia was very glad she wasn't close enough to pick out individual scents, because there was...something. She stopped the thought before it could form, trying to pretend there wasn't millions of years of evolution trying to get her to react to her would-be protector.

For lack of anything better to do, she blew off non-existent smoke from the muzzle of her mini-gun and lowered it to one side, not quite willing to put it up completely. "I'm no officer, I work for a living."

Peter refrained from breathing through his nose as he webbed down the guys, watching with a modicum of satisfaction as their limbs jerked from the dissipating electricity.

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Peter guessed, even though he was 98% sure S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't have that kind of tech. it wasn't like any taser Peter had ever seen. He didn't try to come down any closer to her, either. "Would you like a ride home?"

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Nikola Tesla. The guy was a genius, although I did make some improvements," Claudia said, trying to think. She was having trouble, the heat catching up with her after so long with the meds. She couldn't add that S.H.I.E.L.D. only wished they could have their resources, because she wasn't here as a government agent.

A gust of wind carried a far-too-enticing scent to her, and she was beginning to get an inkling that it was coming from her rescuer. Someone strong who would be... She stopped, shaking her head too quickly, eyes a little wide with too many emotions. "I-I don't think that would be such a good idea."

If he took her to her apartment, she wasn't sure she would be able to keep from letting him inside. That was why they always said that it was important to give consent ahead of time. Because the phrase he used made her think of how good it would be to ride him, to find out whether the promise of the body under that spandex was as good as it looked.

"I'll say." He gives a low whistle, legs back to swinging. He's full of nervous energy, and yeah, his hormones are cranking up higher. She's just so - so fertile - and he tips his head up to try and catch a breath of fresh air.

"I agree with you," Peter finally drops down to street level, ignoring his pulse, the way he can feel it in his temples. "But it's an even worse idea for you to walk home alone like this."

"I won't - I have some stellar self control." He has to, having a secret identity and all. Has to micro-manage most of his movements day to day so he won't rip his bedroom door off it's hinges.
strippernameserendipity: (looking over shoulder)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
That was one of the things she really didn't need to hear, because the same part of her that wanted to strip him of his clothes wouldn't mind stripping away that self-control. She knew she had to get away, get behind locked doors, in filtered air, but the smell of him wasn't letting that part call the shots.

She backed up a few steps, trying to widen the distance. It shouldn't be this bad, not this early. Or trying to make her choose someone. It had been years since a heat had come on this strong.

"It's not that far," she lied. Her voice was already starting to drop to a more sultry tone. "Otherwise, I'll be tempted to test that control."
spideyguy: (Can't Look!)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Peter can feel his mouth run a little dry, and he clears his throat, crossing his arms tightly because because. "It'll be even shorter swinging on a web with me."

"Let me help," Peter insists gently, resisting the urge to pull at his mask. It was definitely getting hot in the costume. "You can't go out on the street like that."

If not for her own protection, then for the rest of the general public. If her hormones escalated any further they could have an outright riot.
strippernameserendipity: (eyebrow)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
She knew it was a bad idea, but it was possibly worse to get any closer to someone her instincts were screaming was right for her. It took effort to put the Tesla back in her purse before she forgot about it, but leaving the artifact where someone might stumble on it was Bad. Almost as Bad as this situation. The kind of thing that called for Extraneous Capital Letters, even in her own thoughts.

"Are you going to stop me?" she asked, her pulse reacting even as she almost wanted him to. The animal part of her wanted him to catch her, claim his prize. She didn't doubt that he could, or care exactly how he was able to. Her voice dropped even lower with the next words. "You know exactly how you can help."
spideyguy: (Glasses)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Peter hadn't been affected this strongly in quite a while. His ruts nowadays were carefully controlled. He could get out of hand faster than anybody, if he let himself. Super-strength came with a hefty price, after all. "If - if I have to." He coughs again, trying to clear his throat. He can almost feel the gravelly quality accumulating in his throat the same way this woman's was dropping into dulcet, sultry tones.

"Not - without your consent." Peter held out his hand, sending up a silent prayer that the spandex wasn't breathable enough to make everything worse if he touched her. Not that it wouldn't, being in close proximity, but it also wasn't skin on skin. "Come on, let's get you home."
strippernameserendipity: (fistbump)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Aren't you the gentleman?" she teased, her body tightening in anticipation. The fact that he wasn't trying to push his way in was making it harder to resist. He smelled...right. The rational part that was saying she couldn't take the time to indulge was losing ground the longer he stood there. And Claudia just couldn't make herself care.

She didn't even realize she'd made the decision to take his hand until she was clasping his. It wasn't the skin-to-skin contact that would help chase the raging fire within her to cool a little. Her hormones had a target now, and she...couldn't say no.

"Come inside and I'll show you my etchings."
spideyguy: (Woah)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Raised right, I guess." Ohh she was smiling at him now, abort abort abort. But both his hormones and his sense of morality couldn't let her walk out into the street unguarded. Peter pulls her in, carefully looping his arm around her before he shoots a web, sling-shotting them into the air. "Well now, miss, I didn't realize you were so cultured."

"Where to?" He presses his cheek against hers before he can help himself, but hey, he's still in control. Mostly. "And am I going to get a name to go with this debacle?"
strippernameserendipity: (also smiling)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't know the Marx Brothers were culture," she quipped. It was a rush to be in the air like this, and she didn't think twice about giving him her address, even the apartment number. Five minutes with a computer and a little know-how would be able to show who was listed there.

But she'd worked on that particular legend with some of the best, for all that it really was a Ms. Claudia Donovan who lived there. She had to have her real name on her transcripts if she wanted to keep going on the path to full Warehouse Agent, even if it was a fast track thanks to connections. It still made her hesitate a little.

"Not if you think this is a debacle. Sounds like you're selling yourself...short," she pointed out. "And I really hope I'll get a name, too."
spideyguy: (Smile)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
"In some parts, yes." Peter readjusted their course, swinging them through the main street. He twisted their bodies in a well-executed dive before catching them on a building and sending them flying down another side street.

"Kind of a debacle. But I fight crime on the daily so I'm starting to think I like trouble." Peter snorted and barely refrained from making a bad, 'there's nothing short about it' pun, eyes scanning over the apartment buildings for her fire escape.

"I'm Spiderman. In case the webs didn't give it away."
strippernameserendipity: (hiding)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Somehow I don't think that's what it says on your driver's license," she pointed out. Claudia might have given him points for the pun, since she had pretty much asked for it. "Although it's slightly better than Mr. Knock-knock. He still calls me that when he's annoyed. Hack into one super-secret government facility and they never forget it, let me tell you. Or rather, not tell you, because it's classified."
spideyguy: (Default)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Giving you the name on my driver's license kind of defeats the point of the mask, doesn't it?" He lands them on the fire escape, right at Claudia's window. "Besides, it's bad enough having S.H.I.E.L.D. on my ass, I don't need whatever organization you're in chasing after me too."

It takes a lot for him to step back and press a hand to Claudia's window, jerking the metal out of the lock with two fingers. He can bend it back into place later. "Classified, come on. You super secret spy types, seriously."
strippernameserendipity: (Default)

[personal profile] strippernameserendipity 2016-04-25 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I work for the Treasury Department, not some secret spy agency. Mostly in storage. Don't really see you as something that needs to molder on a shelf," Claudia said, but she cringed a little at how easily he forces the window. "Not exactly the glamorous world of James Bond."

She knows none of that explains away her choice of sidearm, but she actually isn't qualified for something with real bullets. You have to have a badge for that.
spideyguy: (Can't Look!)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-04-25 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not everybody would agree with you." Peter opens the window fully, providing them space to crawl inside. Everything in his body tells him to go into her apartment, but his rational mind locks his body in place, fidgeting by the wall. "Same amount of property damage though."

"Look are you - are you okay? Your uh - " Spiderman should be good at these things. Direct and to the point. The mask makes him more confident. Most of the time. " - your heat is pretty strong."
