It's that time again!! For supernatural reasons that mere mortals could not comprehend, you and someone else are compelled to play this strange game of chicken, where there can only be one victor. You can be trapped, or just doing it as a friendly yet weird gesture! So don't be shy, this might even be the day you get your first kiss, you loser!

You've got a lot of guts challenging me to this game, Seijuurou-kun. Is this a clever way to raise some affection points with me?

[Not that Nico had minded. She wasn't going to back down from a challenge like the Pocky game. The rules were fairly simple and she'd get a nice treat for her troubles! Not to mention, she could probably get a chance to see his cute and flustered face. It was the perfect plan!

But there was one big problem. The height differences between them... Why was he so tall and she was so short?! Nico hated to be outdone in anything, but a boy being taller than her... That was a critical hit to her ego.]

Jeez... Why are you so damn tall?! If we wanna get this game going, then lemme sit in your lap!

[She's all pouty and huffy like a blowfish.]

[ Even Akashi makes mistakes, sometimes. An offhand mention of this game has somehow snowballed and landed him in this particular position, but now that Nico appears to have latched onto this idea takebacks are kind of an impossibility now.

He'll just have to humor her and make it through this, somehow... ]

It...appears you've seen right through me, Yazawa-san. Of course, any boy in my position would wish to win the favor of a girl like yourself.

[ And besides, it's not like him to back down from a challenge...even if it's with a girl who's at least a head shorter than he is. After all, he...never...loses?

He hesitates at her request at first because it is kind of a more intimate position to be in with a girl than he's accustomed to, but he knows there's no way he can successfully argue with her when she has that stubborn look and those puffed-out cheeks.

Forget all those tall and imposing basketball players he's battled on the court over the years, Nico Yazawa is the most fearsome opponent Akashi's ever had to contend with. ]

And I'm more than happy to accommodate your comfort.

[ He sits down and offers his hand to her politely. ]

If you don't mind being so close to me, that is.

[Nico was horribly aggressive when it came to getting what she wanted. She'd do whatever means necessary to achieve a victory that satisfied her. Though whenever he decided to act all charming like that... Well, even that had caught her off guard. Her brattiness quickly shifts into hesitant awkwardness. She couldn't help and feel a bit red in the cheeks too. This was supposed to go the opposite way, damn it!

That's when it fully registers that it would be the first time that she's ever gotten this close to be a boy. Well, asides her little brother... But this was a completely different case. Okay, she could do this. There was no backing down if he was taking this seriously as herself!]

O-Of course not! I'm sure that you're totally happy to have Nico-ni all to yourself, riiiight?

[Stalling? Who's stalling? Totally not her! So Nico will gingerly approach and take his hand to sit in his pat like some kind of flustered kitty. First step complete!]

Hm hm... When I'm up this close, I can hear your heart pounding like crazy. It's kinda cute. [... That's her own heart, by the way.]

That's...right.

[ The second Nico's weight rests on Akashi's legs however, he realizes that he has made a serious miscalculation in agreeing to this.

With a lapful of Nico Akashi is now trapped. Unable to run. Unable to escape. ]

I can't deny that being so near to you has an effect on me.

[ Even more alarmingly, when she's blushing and flustered like this, she's really...kind of cute.

Another problem quickly presents itself to distract him from that unsettling thought: the box of pocky is on the low table in front of where they're seated, and reaching for it carelessly means that he'll risk pushing Nico off his lap. Making a girl tumble to the ground is not going to win him any points for sure, so there's only one thing he can do. ]

Ah, please excuse me for this, but I need to reach for the box.

[ 'This' means the hand he slips very carefully around her waist to keep her in place when he leans forward to retrieve the pocky.

The combined motion also results in what's pretty much a hug. ]

Like you're one to talk! [Erk.] I-I mean... That's a normal and healthy effect that you're having! To get warm and fuzzy feelings around me!

[It didn't help that he was ridiculously hot whenever she was up close. Once you took away her smugness and abrasiveness, Nico was actually a pretty awkward person. Then before Nico knew it, she felt his hand around her waist which makes her turn redder.

And with the next action... It felt like a hug. No, it was definitely a hug. Getting hugged and cuddled by her girl friends was one thing, but getting hugged by a boy or more specifically him was a completely different feeling.

Thumpthumpthumpthumpthump--]

Y-Yoooou... You really want me all to yourself, huh? [So leaning in against his chest and tracing a heart symbol with her finger, Nico will attempt to put on her idol persona... But it's more forced than usual.] Nico Nico Niiii is so touched to have a big and strong man holding her like this! ☆ I hope this moments lasts forever!

[Translation: "I don't wanna be the only one who feels weird, so I'm taking you down with me!"]

[ A sudden shiver goes up from Akashi's toes up to the top of his head from the feeling of a delicate fingertip drawing a shape on his chest and it makes him almost drop the box of pocky. It's only those lightning athletic reflexes and a less than graceful mad scramble with his fingers that saves it from ending up on the floor.

The back of his neck suddenly feels incredibly hot and breathing has somehow become more difficult than it was a moment ago, like there's a huge stone weighing on his chest instead of a petite ~~and cutely blushing~~ girl. He sags back against the chair for a bit of support, hand around the box in a deathgrip that's probably snapped half the chocolate-covered sticks inside.

What was that? Why is she cuddling closer all of a sudden? What the hell is she doing?! ]

I...I can be quite a...selfish person at times.

[ He has to keep it together, he can't lose it now. He will get through this. ]

Shall we...ah, play the game now?

[Yes, good. Very good. Nico was still very red in the cheeks, but there was no hiding that smug look of satisfaction on her face. Playing with him like this was actually pretty fun. It just made her want to press his buttons even more to see what else he'd do... She couldn't help and imagine how he'd react if she was in one of her idol outfits with more of her skin showing and being up close and personal like this.

And being up this close, she could feel the heat from his body up against hers. Nico had to admit that it wasn't that bad of a feeling. Not that she'd say something like that out loud since it'd be too embarrassing.]

I... Is that right? I... I'm pretty selfish as well when it comes to getting things that I want.

[Oh, she'll just let that line dangle in the air for a moment. Just to let it sink in for him if he feels inclined to overthink on it. That being said, she'll pull back just a bit to meet his eyes, yet she's still clinging onto him like a koala bear.]

Ready when you are, Sei~juu~rou-kun. ♥ Please be gentle with Nico-nii, okay?

[ Akashi's strategic senses never lie: he's got the feeling that he's at a serious disadvantage here. He doesn't really have any defenses against how warm and soft she feels cuddled up against him like this, and much to his dismay, his awareness of how cute she really can be is getting tougher and tougher to ignore. All in all, this actually feels pretty nice and she's making his heart beat faster and it just proves that girls really can be so terrifying sometimes.

But no! He isn't prepared to lose this easily, so he attempts to go on the offensive himself, deploying his best princely smile and switching to a softer, smoother, sweeter tone. ]

Of course. I promise that I'll always treat you delicately, Nico-san.

[ Yes, he's breaking out the big guns with the name switch here, because he is in it to win it.

He also places one end of a pocky stick in his mouth, and then curls his fingers beneath her chin to gently tilt it up, offering her the other end with a look in his eyes that says don't think you've defeated me just yet. ]

[To be at first name status... That actually felt pretty pleasant on the ears. If he was going to play seriously, then Nico would pull out the big guns too. So taking a moment, she'll pull the ribbons out from her hair and lets her hair run down. Nico almost looked like a completely different girl now. But for better or worst, it was still her despite the image change. And who knew why Nico didn't do this more often, but this was a special occasion.

After all... She was a girl who didn't like losing and put herself above everyone else (her friends being the exception since they shared the same spotlight with her). However, Akashi Seijuurou was certainly worthy as her rival. Whenever he tilts her face up, she looks back right him with a delicate look on her face.]

I wouldn't expect anything less from my prince.

[Even her voice is more elegant and gentle than before. It was a huge 180 from how she usually sounds and acts. Was this the real Nico or just another persona she created? With the pocky tip pointed at her, Nico sensually takes it into her mouth. The look in her own eyes said we're just getting started here.]

[Kise doesn't consider himself a coward but this will warrant his premature death if Akashi's mood is sour because of Murasakibara or Aomine. Or maybe Kise himself annoyed him during the day, he can't count that out.

But dare is dare and he can't back down now that he managed to sneak in the cabinet where Akashi usually plays shogi. If Kise survives this, he'll have Aomine run naked around school as a return dare.

Breathe, Kise, breathe-]

AKASHICCHI! [-bounces over to his table-] Share pocky with me! [And he dumps three boxes of pocky on table, in case Akashi has some specific taste.]

[ Akashi's just enjoying another quiet, relaxing shogi game, when Kise bursts in.

Already today has been a little more of a trying day than usual for Akashi thanks to the disruptions his teammates, Kise included, caused with their antics earlier.

This one's just plain baffling for him, though, and not just because of the nature of the request. ]

You wish to do this with...me?

[ Why him and not someone like Kuroko or even Aomine or...well, just about any of the others? ]

[Kise cheerfully salutes. He might have been dared to do this but now that he takes closer look at Akashi... he kind of needs it. The cheering up. And what better way to do it than with a bit of sweets and a kiss or two?

He grabs the box with chocolate and pulls out one stick. He takes empty chair from the table nearby and sets it next to Akashi.]

You know the rules to the game, right? [Have the biggest, brightest smile in the universe... please don't get mad at him.]
