ＳＴＡＲＧＡＺＩＮＧ - whether you're on a picnic blanket in a field, laying on the beach, or in the bed of a truck, you're with someone you care about and you're looking at the stars.

ＣＡＭＰＦＩＲＥ - camping is the most fun when you're with someone else. roasting marshmallows, telling stories. nature's got it goin' on.

ＰＡＲＫＩＮＧ - you're at the lover's lane, parked at the peak overlooking the city, it's just you and someone else in the car. maybe it's time to steam up the glass or hey, you guys can just talk if you want.

ＦＩＲＥＷＯＲＫＳ - may it is the fourth of july, the new year, or just because, but there's fireworks shooting off and they're magical. or scary. it depends on what floats your boat.

ＬＡＴＥ ＮＩＧＨＴ ＳＷＩＭ - maybe you're at the beach or in the backyard pool or at the lake, maybe you're going to skinny dip or maybe you'll 'fall' in with all your clothes. either way, swimming at night is pretty much always fun.

ＳＫＹ ＬＡＮＴＥＲＮＳ - perhaps you've lost someone dear and you want to do something to remember them by, maybe you're making a wish for the future.

[ The events prior to this night are ambiguous. Was alcohol involved? Was there a lost bet? Had a friendly conversation actually gone right for once? It doesn't necessarily matter, not when the moon is the only thing lighting the lake in front of them. That, and stars. Somewhere in the ripple he can make out the pinpricks in the reflection and it's calming. Calming enough that the man gets an idea to take advantage of both at once when he stands from their spot on the beach to walk to the water's edge, glancing over his shoulder with a subtle smile. ]

Ellie sat on top of the apartment rooftop, watching the fireworks go off. They'd started at about eight, and now it was about midnight. Considering they were going in full force, Ellie didn't think they were going to stop anytime soon.

New York was a big place--there were clusters going off all over the city. One bright mushroom cloud high over her head, followed by another and another. Some were framed against the horizon, others right above her head. Those kind of freaked her out a little bit, because they seemed like they would fall on her head, but nothing had hit Ellie so far.

So it was okay. She stretched her arms above her head and craned her neck up, up to watch a shower of yellow-gold-orange pop, followed by the sound of cracking. Ellie grinned to herself a little--she had a little box of sparklers, but they were still unused; she thought the fireworks looked better.

Too bad Joel had to work in the morning. He'd stayed up with her for part of it, but then went downstairs, telling her to come in before dawn.

Even if Ellie did, she'd be too awake for sleep for awhile. Totally.

The voice was probably a surprise, even on a night like this. The fallout from SHIELD's sudden dissolution had left a lot of people wondering just where they'd end up and Mike...

Well, he had a reason to be watching. SHIELD wasn't the only agency with eyes in a lot of places.

[When Natasha had said she was going to go underground and bury all her covers, she hadn't been lying. She's almost as hard to find as Bucky, and that's its own issue, isn't it? Steve's been searching for months and every lead he finds ends up dead and buried. Bucky wants nothing to do with him right now, but Steve isn't going to accept that outcome.

But he needs some time to regroup and get a different look at things, and that's how he decides to search out Natasha instead. The two of them went through that whole mess together, along with Sam, and somehow she's turned out to be one of his closest friends.

Steve's not convinced that Natasha feels the same way, seeing how she'd deflected that request back when he'd first mentioned it. But he also doubts that she'd be unhappy to see him. In fact, he's pretty sure that the only reason he's able to locate her in the first place is because she's allowed it to happen.

There's still so much unrest throughout the country that Steve is playing it safe, bundled up and with his hood drawn over his head as he approaches the small campfire deep in the woods. He had never pegged Natasha as the sort to live out in the wild like this, but for all he knows she's only been here a day or two.

Without much fanfare, he steps over and takes a seat on a log, watching as the fire dances over Natasha's features and lights up her hair with different shades of red. He bows his head, smiles.]

[A new segment of therapy now involves Will Graham, strapped and bound to his wheeled chair, along with his facial mask, trying to look at the stars. He remembers taking the dogs out for long walks at night. Night was his favorite time. It was full of shadows and consequences, and that fascinated him.

Now, it's just another reminder of time passing. Time passing in here, while the killer is out there.
