It's Raining Meme!

It's pouring rain, and you're stuck outside! Whether you're alone and waiting under an awning with a stranger or huddled under an umbrella with a loved one, there's no way around getting soaked on your merry way.

[ After a brief conversation on the phone, Tony had agreed to actually do something genuinely nice with no ulterior motives - pick her up from the middle of the city so she doesn't have to walk home in the rain. It was a sound plan, really!

Except he was supposed to be there about thirty minutes ago - the traffic, as Amelia can probably see, is horrible. Finally his car can be seen down the road, inching towards its destination - it's another eight minutes before he actually parks in front of the building...

And promptly shuts the car off, stepping out with two umbrellas. He tosses the keys to an absolutely random passerby without a second thought. ]

Here, Merry Christmas.

[ That being done, he approaches Amelia, offering one umbrella with a shrug. ]

So that didn't go as smoothly as I planned it.

[After a few decades, you learn to be pretty patient and thankfully Amelia was a damn patient woman (always keep a book on hand in case these things happen).

In any case, she at least looks relieved when Tony finally shows up (as much as her neutral expression would reveal anyways). She takes the umbrella. ]

Thank you. And it's alright. I figured with all that traffic, you'd be delayed.

Fortunately, I have a backup plan. All we need to do is get to the edge of the traffic jam - I'll call my driver, we'll get a ride home, and my knight-in-shining-armor image won't be stained.

[ He purses his lips thoughtfully as he opens his umbrella. ]

Then again I already have the shining armor. I should get knighted.

[She opens her umbrella up-- the rain had been heavy before, but now it's not pouring as much]

Knight-shining-armor is it? That's much too noble of a label for you.

Bold move, insulting the honor of a man who loaned you his very own umbrella.

[ He starts down the sidewalk, quiet for a moment with one hand nestled in his pocket. ]

Though technically it's only been mine for fifteen minutes. Convenience store, seven bucks.

Yes, yes, the purchase of umbrellas for the both of us was very honorable. I commend you for that at least.

Oh. Um. Actually, I only bought yours there.

[ His umbrella is noticeably fancier. ]

As long as the wind doesn't pick up you should be fine.

At this point, it would be expected of me to day 'it's the thought that counts' but it's a bit overused now.

That, and I didn't really put much thought into it.

... So what were you up to out here, anyway?

I was having a meeting with my apprentice's father. I usually give him progress about how is daughter is doing with her studies. [MAGIC studies of course!]

He lives here in the city for his job so I took the liberty of making the visit myself.

A personal parent-teacher conference, huh?

[ wink wink nudge nudge ]

[She stops talking for a moment and oddly enough starts humming Rhythm of the Falling Rain.]

[ He opens his mouth for some sort of retort - surely one that would make her roll her eyes, but stops himself as she begins... humming?

Oh.

Uh.

Okay.

Guess he'll... wait it out. ]

That's when that song, 'Rhythm of the Rain' was released. I was... around forty I believe. Hm.

[ He arches a brow, studying her with a pensive look. ]

Any reason you have that bit of trivia memorized?

[recluserose]

I just felt like sharing. I don't have the opportunity to do that all the time you know.

[In other words, she's... happy she has a sorta normal human friend she can talk to who knows about her secret.]
