That is the accepted tradition. I don't know of anything harmful coming from not doing so, though.

Their dear master had decided to go all out with getting the swords to celebrate Christmas "properly", and maybe he had indulged a little too much in the eggnog. But it had just been so good, creamy and potent, and he'd had his fair share of the drink.

Now, of course, he had a hat with a sprig of mistletoe attached to it. Already he had stolen a few (begrudging) smooches from the others. Now-- ]

[ Shokudaikiri drapes himself over Hasebe's back, leaning on him heavily with a bright smile. ]

[Hasebe has had one or two small drinks, but nothing to make him drunk. He's busy fussing silently, making sure the whole thing goes off without a hitch, so the Saniwa will be happy. Drunk, one cannot monitor the situation.

Now, a distraction drapes itself over him, and he glances back.]

[ He's just going to put more of his weight on Hasebe's back, fully trusting him to keep him upright as he does. A hand comes up and he pokes the side of Hasebe's head before he points up at the adornment on top of his head. ]

[Oh. Sigh. Being Hasebe, he will hold is fellow sword up, ready to hold him if needed to keep him from falling on the floor.

But he's a little teeny tiny microscopic bit amused until the mistletoe, which he looks at in horror.]
