amnesiac shipping meme.

an amnesiac shipping meme

You have no idea who you are.

One day, you just woke up from the darkness, confused and alone. You barely remember your own name, much less why you're here...or where here is, even. Your own body is strange to you, and if you have some kind of power or ability, that must be frightening. Perhaps you're angry at everything so new and different, lost in this strange world you don't understand or know your own place in. Maybe you feel the need to hide away, lest you be crushed by everyone out there who is sure to hurt you.

You are so, so alone.

Only you're not. There is one person, one person who's found you and taken you in. They've shown you kindness, looking after you while you can barely look out for yourself. Out of the goodness of their heart, they've shown you things, taught you things. Most importantly, they're giving you a new sense of identity. And for that, you've begun to appreciate them. More than words can say, actually. You care for them so deeply that your heart hurts around them. Is that normal? What is this feeling? You can't imagine life without them, and leaving them- That's something you could never consider. Is this lov...

The word's on the tip of your tongue, but you can't figure it out, exactly. What you can figure out is that you want to give everything you can to the person who's done so much for them. You want to stay by their side and make them happy. You want to protect them at all costs.

So no one would blame you for getting confused when you see them with someone else or getting angry when you believe they're in danger. And certainly it's only natural for you to get frustrated when you want to tell them what you think of them, what they mean to you, and you can't figure out what to do. Perhaps following instincts will do?

One thing you know is that this bond and these emotions will never go away, not even when you learn who you are.

RULES
- This meme is for examining what happens when someone with no memories, potentially someone with powers or skills that could be dangerous at the very least, develops deep feelings for the person who's taken them in or is helping them realize their past. It can be played as awkward, adventurous, tragic, cracky, fluffy, truly romantic, or anything in between. You can play at the beginning, the part where emotions have strongly developed, or even when the amnesiac has regained their memories and must now deal with new feelings.
- Reply with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd like to play the amnesiac, the caretaker/help, or both.
- The role of caretaker does not have to always be beneficial. Maybe they caused this condition in the first place so the other character would be dependent, loving, and loyal towards them.
- Reply to others and play.

Peter is not taken down easily. It's one of the signature things about Spiderman - you hit him, and he keeps getting up. It's partially because he's built like a fucking tank, but also because he's terrible at gauging his own limits, and will keep pressing on until he literally can't. The criminals in Hell's Kitchen are rougher than any other part of the city, in Peter's experience. Yes, he tries to stick to Queens and Midtown (because if he didn't, he'd never make it home), but occasionally his path will veer into Daredevil's territory who, of course, was usually somewhere to lend a hand.

Today isn't that day, but it's fine. Peter's got them on the ropes, two out of five are already webbed up, and he'll make quick work of the last three. Chased them all the way from lower Queens, the fucks.

They catch him in midair, and it's bad. Peter usually tries not to fall into a pattern, that's how you get hit, but maybe he slipped. Maybe he fell into a rut and didn't notice. It doesn't matter, when the lead pipe hits him squarely in the head, and Peter misses his target and hits the ground out of sheer shock. He's fine, though he can feel he's bleeding - but they hit him again, and a third time.

The fourth is what puts him out, blackness swift over his vision.

Daredevil arrives just in time to stop that pipe falling down over Peter's head for a fifth, and perhaps final, time.

He uses said pipe to hit a few of the criminals that had been after Spider-Man, and pretty soon they decide to turn and flee, not willing to test their luck with a second vigilante for the night.

Matt drops the pipe and immediately turns his attention toward Peter, listening for his vitals. He's breathing and his heartbeat is regular, but the stench of blood is pervasive enough to have Matt worrying quite a bit. He sets about picking him up and calls it an early night, heading back to his apartment through the fire escape.

Once there he lies Peter down on his couch and considers what to do. Head injuries aren't the same as cuts and broken bones, there are signs you really need to be able to see to determine how bad they are. He picks up his phone and considers calling for Claire. Maybe...

Peter usually isn't out for long, but he doesn't even so much as stir as Matt carries him back to the apartment. Good or bad sign, who really knows? Maybe he's healing - at least he's breathing; any regular human might not have been. If he were awake, he absolutely would have protested bleeding on your couch, Matt.

That's about when Peter groans and starts to stir, hissing in pain when he trie to open his eyes. Ouch, okay, not good, backing off now. He's just going to lay there for a minute while all of his brain functions come online, thanks. His gloved hand moves to his temple, and through the thin spandex he can still feel the sticky blood. "Hnn-wha-"

"Hey, relax." Matt's hand is there to catch Peter's, relief flooding through him when he realizes he's waking up and is alert enough to speak and move.

"No sudden movements. You really hurt your head."

Matt has since taken off his mask but the rest of his costume remains on. Changing didn't seem like much of a priority when he was on the edge of calling for help. Luckily it looks like he won't need to do that, and he thinks Peter will thank him for his restraint later.

There's someone's hand, warm on his, but Peter doesn't feel a sense of alarm, despite the abruptness of it. He blinks, world slowly coming into focus. There's bright light spilling over the couch, illuminating the face hovering above him. Peter relaxes, back into the cushions of the couch and tilts his head, absently observing the ceiling before focusing back on Matt.

"I hurt my head? How?" His brow furrows, head aching as he tries to remember. "Who...who are you?"

His gaze searches over Matt's face, whose eyes aren't focused on him and is somewhat befuddling until he realized Matt's eyes weren't focused on anything at all. "...where am I?"

Matt's expression scrunches with concern when Peter asks who he is. Those hits to the head must have been worse than he imagined, but maybe this is merely temporary. He's only just woken up, after all.

"It's Matt. You're in my apartment."

He walks around the couch and crouches next to Peter, tilting his head slightly as he listens to his heart rate, any spikes in breath or signs that he might be feeling particularly anxious.

"Some guys were hitting you in the head before I stepped in. Anything ringing a bell?"

"Matt." Peter says the word, feels the way it sits in his mouth, but there's...no flash of recognition. It's just a name, and Peter makes the executive decision not to dwell on it too hard. His head already hurts as it is. Instead, he takes stock of his injuries, gloved hand roaming over his side, the healing bruises underneath his costume.

It inspires a soft hiss out of the corner of his mouth, attention returning to Matt as he approaches. There's a little bit of - not fear, necessarily, but wariness, because he honestly doesn't recognize Matt at all. "You brought me here?"

"No. I was...I don't know where I was. Why were they hitting me?" There's a spider insignia on his chest, and Peter frowns down at it. "What am I - the hell is this?"
