PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME!

PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME

>> premise

Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a concientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be.

The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapien. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed.

Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human.

So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?
As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!
All pet types are best suited for certain jobs, and when hunting for one, it is best to search for a type that suits your needs best.
However, a "True Match" - when a pet person bonds with you and only you for the rest of their natural lives - comes naturally, and sometimes takes time before you can find the pet you will be able to give a forever home to.
According to all current research, pet people are completely sentient and like us in many ways. However, it is important to remember that they have many animalistic and feral characteristics. Do not be foolish and think that your pet is a person, despite the facts that many are clothed and may be allowed to read, write, and have "hobbies." Some traditional pet owners may eschew these frivolities, and that is within their right.
Pet people age more quickly than humans, at least physically, and many types have long lifespans. It is not uncommon for pets to be passed through the family. When getting your child their first pet, it's important to keep in mind that just because the pup is tiny now, a grown pet can be jumpy around a small child.
It is important to train a pet. Discipline will be necessary. This does not make you a bad owner. Failure to train early will result in a rebellious pet. Training is especially important if you want your pet to serve as a household servant.
Remember, your pet will be extremely protective of you, especially if you are Truly Bonded. It is best to socialize them early. A socialized pet is a perfect family pet.
These days, unowned and unbonded pet people are allowed to live as strays or "Frees" in certain designated areas. Some even hold "jobs." This is against their best interest, and owners who adopt these strays are to be rewarded. Still, the best place to get pets are from liscenced kennels or breeders.
Some masters find it beneficial to participate in activities with their pets, such as shows and other competitions.
Finally, much has been made about the sexual relationship between pet and master. This is a normal facet of the bond, and humans are sure to find pet people sexually alluring. But beyond that, it is only responsible and prudent for owners to care for their pet's needs. It is a well-known fact that the libidos of pet people are remarkably strong, and when they go into heat, it is usually more convenient for a master to relieve them. There is no risk of pregnancy. All rumors of hybrids are urban legends.
Despite this, masters must remember to not view their pets as romantic partners. Humans should stay with humans.

With that said, thank you and welcome to your first day as a pet's master!

>> how to play
Needless to say, The Care and Keeping of Your Pet is a bit biased and full of propaganda, but it gives a good idea of the world your character is now AU's into. They are either a pet person or a human master, and what that means for them varies.

So are they a devoted pet or a rebellious animal person looking to buck the system? A generous master or a cruel sexual sadist? Just a normal pet owner? Most likely they're something in between, but when you're raised in this world, it's difficult to see anything different on the horizon.

Rules
Comment with your character and say whether they'd be a master or a pet. Ideally, they could be played as both. Mention what kind of each they'd be and what they'd be like, (ie: "Xx-chan is a bunny girl who is happy to please her master" or "Asterothia is a cat boy who is aloof but loyal to his true master"). For pets, be sure to include features ("wolf ears, tail, teeth).

REMEMBER, pet does not automatically equal submissive and master automatically equal dominant. This is not a BDSM setting though BDSM can be included. How far you want to go with the actual "pet" aspect is up to you, as well. Your pet could just be your slightly-furry roommate or soulmate!
Comment to others.
Play out the scene.

>> prompts
This by now means an all-inclusive list, but it should get you going in the right direction.

First Time Pet/Owner: Usually, pets are gotten at a young age; you're an old dog. Can you learn new tricks?
True Bond: What all masters and pets yearn for...the pet's loyalty and adoration for life.
Love: It's expected for masters to love their pets, but to love them? Romance is strictly forbidden.
Old "Couple": Master and pet have grown together and know each other. You know, know each other.
Loss of Master: The pet has lost their master, perhaps even their True Bond. Is it possible to move on?
Young Master/Older Pet: Pets age quicker than masters, so it's possible to end up with a bit of an "age" difference.
Family Pet: This pet's been raised as part of the family. What happens when their feelings for a family member get more than platonic.
For Your Protection: You don't want to be a master, but you have to take in a pet for their protection lest they be in danger from the general public.
Stray: You're a stray or a "Free." Can you live like this with your biology screaming for you to make a match?
Servant: You're more servant than pet.
All Sex, All the Time: The only purpose for this pet is to service the master, and not in a way that means cleaning their house.
Guard: You're a loyal bodyguard, a service pet. You'll do anything for your master. Anything.
Pet Play: This is for those who prefer to keep their animals on leashes, have them eat from bowls, and keep away from clothing.
Breaking In: Training is important with any pet.
In Love with Another Master...or Pet: To lust after another's master is no better than treason, and to wish to be with another pet just cruel!
Punishment: Bad dog, no nookie!
Heat: All pets go into heat, and it's the responsibility of the owner to take care of this problem. After all, unchecked dry humping kills thousands every year.
Breeding: Breeders know the best qualities in each type and mate the cream of the crop together to continue lines. It's a hobby for some, a calling for others.
Pregnancy: So, about that whole "hybrid" thing. It maaaay be more true than you think, even if pet/human pregnancies are the stuff of salacious tabloids.
Territorial: Hey, hey, other dog person! This is your apartment. Stay the fuck out!
Kennel: Kennels are where unadopted pets are kept. They're generally agreed to be depressing places. Why not volunteer at one, keeping the pets healthy and happy with the kind of affection only humans can show?
Rebelling Against the System: Damn the Man! Pet people are people, too! Just be careful not to get talk. You know what happens to bad pets.
Instant Attraction: You ever just look at someone and know they're the one? That they're...your master? But what if you've been trying to fight it? Well, don't try!
Dominant Pet: You might be the pet, but you call the shots, at least in the bedroom.
Pet Show: Everyone wants to show off how perfect their animal is. Look at that ass! And you'll never believe their special skills...
Therapeutic: Pets, especially those bred for their kindliness, are perfect therapy for those who've been through trauma and heartache.
Jealousy: Who's that around your master? Oh, hell no. They better not be touching them!
Petting: Pet people are absolutely gaga for being touched. Even the most steely ones turn to mush for rubs.
Games: Playing with your pet and giving them exercise is a key to happiness. Of course, with a pet person, you might want to use other toys instead of a ball.

"That's all thanks to Petey Pie." Wade couldn't articulately express just how important Peter was to him. So he settled for simple words and a stupid grin instead.

His face lit up when Peter flopped onto him cutely. wade's arms curled around him, hugging him tight. He laughed. "Well, hey there. You havin' fun?"

Gwen had managed to keep up with Peter when they were running, but she slowed down when they got to their owners. She sat next to Vanessa, her head rubbing against her owner's shoulder happily, tail curled around her leg. It was cute how much Peter and Wade clearly enjoyed being around each other.

Peter gave a little chirrup and started scenting Wade thoroughly, maybe even a little excessively, all along his jaw and neck. He enjoyed being held, making a happy noise when Wade's arms curled around him. Don't get him wrong, Gwen was really nice - it was nice to have a friend. But cuddling with Wade was...better, in a way.

Vanessa pet a hand down Gwen's back, smiling at the way Wade and Peter embraced each other. Yeah, she thought so too. Despite how hard the years had treated him, when Wade was with Peter, he looked like the boy she'd known and loved in high school.

Wade's eyes closed, basking in Peter's affection. He felt relieved now that Gwen wasn't all over him. Why did that bother him so much? He didn't get it. His hand pet through Peter's hair. "See? He's pretty great," Wade laughed. "Sorry, Ness. Got distracted." Wade grabbed his phone out of his pocket and went into his contacts. "Here. Put your number in? We'll get these two together again soon and see how it goes." His stomach did a weird flip.

Gwen sat quietly, eyes closed in comfort.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter rumbled happily when Wade praised him, rubbing his head against Wade's collarbone. He could smell Vanessa on Wade and...he really didn't like that. He wasn't going to examine why, he was just going to cover the scent...

He chirped and glanced up at Wade curiously. See how what went? Did...Wade mean him and Vanessa?

"Sounds good to me," Vanessa took the offered phone and typed in her number, absently scratching behind Gwen's ears with her free hand.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade laughed. Wow. Even he could tell that Peter was extra affectionate right then. Though he didn't realize it was Peter covering up Vanessa's scent. He continued to pet Peter as he spoke to Vanessa. "Alright. Awesome. It was really good seeing you again, Ness. You look good. Life is treating you well." He grinned.

Gwen looked at Peter at smiled, leaning into her owner's touch. Hopefully that meant she would see Peter again soon.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter nuzzled into Wade's fingers, coiling himself tightly on Wade's lap. Yeah he didn't plan on moving. He smiled back at Gwen; he really did hope he got to see her again, maybe play tag in the grass sometime. Bat around a mouse. Wade was great about playing with Peter, but he wasn't a playmate the way Gwen would be.

"You too. You seem like you're in a really good place, Wade." Vanessa clipped Gwen's leash on, leaning over to offer Peter her hand to sniff. "Hi there Peter. You taking good care of your master?"
beaarthur: (Before | grin)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade didn't stop the petting. He just kept on. It was something he didn't even realize he did anymore, almost like a nervous tic. It always calmed him when he was feeling anxious. Why was he feeling anxious now?

"I definitely am." Wade ran a hand down Peter's back, giving him a small pat on his lower back. He watched curiously as Vanessa reached out toward Peter.
spideyguy: (20)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter made a curious chirp noise, eyeing Vanessa almost warily. Which was...a little strange, considering he was usually so cuddly - and was clearly very comfortable with Wade. He sniffed her hand experimentally before reluctantly allowing her to pet him. Okay, so his basis for not liking her wasn't really stable at all. Let's not cross-examine it.

"What a pretty boy," Vanessa cooed, scratching lightly behind Peter's ears. They flattened against his head despite himself, and he coiled more firmly into Wade's lap. She backed off with a warm laugh. "Shy guy, huh? Oh he's so cute, Wade."

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade was usually pretty oblivious, but he immediately noticed the difference in Peter's approach to Vanessa. He eyed Peter curiously, hand still on his back still petting soothingly. Hopefully Peter would realize that Vanessa meant no harm.

"He's not usually this skittish. Maybe he's over-sensitized from being outside too much," Wade offered. Though Peter was never bothered before. This was just weird. Maybe they would stop and pick up food on the way home. A little extra love and comfort might help him feel better. "He's definitely a cutie."

Gwen watched curiously, her chin on Vanessa's shoulder. "He seems kind of shy, yeah."
spideyguy: (33)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter mewled and settled against Wade's chest. Yeah...that was a good explanation. Peter was just going to convince himself that was it because...well, the other option was too confusing and embarrassing. He let his tongue dart out, licking Wade's neck and settling with his head against Wade's chest, tail curling around his arm.

"Does he talk?" Vanessa asked, turning her head to smile and press a kiss to Gwen's cheek. She adored Gwen just as much as Wade adored Peter.
beaarthur: (Before | look down)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade's hands smoothed over Peter's back as he leaned over to kiss the top of his head. "Does he talk? Uh... no? Not that I know of at least." Wade stopped, lost in thought for a moment.

He just assumed that's how it was because he hadn't been around pets the majority of his life and when he was, he just never paid a lot of attention to them. It didn't help that the old cat of his land lord's only hissed. So you know? You just assume things. But then he and Peter started going to the park and he realized that the pets were talking and Peter didn't. The thought of Peter just starting up a conversation made him both happy and it also made him feel really weird. Would he have opened up as much if Peter could speak? Probably not.

Gwen purred at the kiss, butting her head up against Vanessa's cheek. She felt very lucky. Her owner was the best.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, some of them can't." Vanessa politely didn't mention it was mostly the lower-class pedigrees that couldn't. Maybe Peter had been trained to, frankly, up his value. "Maybe he was just too shy to learn. It can happen. It's hard for older animals to learn though, so you have to teach them when they're young."

Wade really didn't know much about pets at all, and honestly, had he looked into a little more? Learned exactly what kind of training Peter had? He might have found out Peter's little secret. But luckily, he hadn't, so Peter's tactic had been working exactly as it needed to. When Wade was ready, Peter would tell him, but for right now, Peter was doing his job and doing it well.
beaarthur: (Before | side look)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I didn't know that. I'm pet illiterate. Seriously, Ness. I bought a book and I still don't know enough." Wade considered that information, petting Peter's hair gently. "Yeah. I love him the way he is. I'm so glad you know this stuff though. Do you mind if I call you if I have a question? I google stuff, but there's usually multiple answers and I'm always worried that I'll do something dumb and hurt Petey." He would never forgive himself if that happened.

Yes, fortunately Wade was a doofus. He had barely glanced through Peter's paperwork when he probably should have looked into it. But he was too distracted taking Peter out to play and coming home to snuggle, okay? That was what mattered to him.
spideyguy: (5)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can lend you some material. And look up some stuff about therapy animals in particular," Vanessa offered, petting through Gwen's hair, letting her fingers untangle some of it where it had gotten mussed when she played with Peter. "No, not at all! I actually work at a clinic now, I'm working on getting my degree, so I'm totally into this kind of thing."

And if Vanessa happened to find out that Peter could talk...well, she might not blow his cover if she figured out why.

Peter was exceptionally good at keeping Wade busy. Getting him out and about even on the bad days, getting him moving.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I would appreciate that so much. I feel like I'm walking in this blind and Peter deserves better than that." His eyes widened. "Oh, wow. I'm not surprised. That suits you, Ness. I'm really happy for you." Vanessa had a big heart, so something like that was perfect for her.

Gwen's purr amplified at Vanessa grooming her. It was her favorite. See? This was why she was lucky.
spideyguy: (18)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-14 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you have his medical records? Have you taken him in and gotten him registered?" Vanessa really did love her job. She wanted to ask what Wade was doing now, but held her tongue; she had a feeling recovering was taking most of his time and didn't want to ask something that made him uncomfortable. She could tell it had taken him a lot to admit Peter was a service animal.

Peter mewled again, licking Wade's cheek and smiling at Gwen. Yeah, it was pretty obvious both owners treated their cats very well.
beaarthur: (Before | grin)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I have the paperwork that came with him when my friend got him for me. Is that what you need?" Wade felt like an idiot right now. He really needed to get with the program. "Weasel registered him for me."

Wade leaned into the lick. This was why he got better. Peter was so sweet.

Gwen smiled back, her head still leaning on Vanessa's shoulder comfortably.
spideyguy: (39)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-14 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"That's a good start. I'm assuming he's up to date on all of his vaccinations if he was registered as a service animal. Probably nothing to worry about but it's always better to be safe than sorry, right?"

Vanessa picked up Gwen's leash, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "We should probably get going. Get you some dinner, huh Gwen?"
beaarthur: (Before | look down)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. We went to the vet about a month and a half ago and they said he's doing good. I brought that same paperwork with me that Peter came with and he's vaccinated and good to go." Wade rubbed Peter's back.

Wade got up and stretched, clipping Peter's leash on him. "We should head out too and get some dinner, shouldn't we, Petey?"

Gwen preened at the kiss, eyes closed in happiness. She hopped up, ready to follow her owner home. "I could eat," she smiled sweetly. The growl from her stomach
spideyguy: (2)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-14 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Peter stuck close to Wade's side, even as his owner stood up and clipped on his leash. Maybe it was a little clingy, but Wade never seemed to mind, right? He did let his tail flick out and brush against Gwen, and he smiled, friendly. Hopefully they'd get to play again soon.

"I'll see you around, Wade. Give me a call and I'll send you some material before we get these two together."
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Wade loved it. He didn't mind in the slightest. Peter's closeness helped calm his anxiety whenever they were out and about. The anxiety was something that had started after the explosion and ever since he got Peter, it slowly started to dissipate. Especially when he was close. It was this weird comfort that he didn't realize he needed until he had it.

"Bye, Ness! I'll definitely call you. It was great seeyin' ya," Wade reached out to give her another quick hug. It was so good to see her.

Gwen smiled back, leaning against her owner. She hoped they'd get to spend more time together too.
spideyguy: (30)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-14 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Peter tried not to let his face show how he was feeling when he watched Wade hug Vanessa, and he ducked his head, faking shyness. But that...really didn't sit well with him, and now her scent was on Wade again and -

"It was great seeing you too!" Vanessa beamed, hugging Wade back before gently pulling Gwen along. "Come on sweetheart, dinner time!"
beaarthur: (Before | serious face)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Wade pulled back from Vanessa, smiling. Other than that weird feeling he got when Peter was around the other cat, it was a pretty fruitful trip.

Gwen followed her owner happily, looking back at Peter one last time and giving a little wink.

Wade reached for Peter, smoothing his hair back out of his face. "You okay, baby boy? You not feeling well? What's wrong?" He crouched down, trying to look up into Peter's eyes. He reached out, rubbing the outside of Peter's leg soothingly. "Maybe we should get you some food. We didn't eat as much as usual today. Don't wanna mess with your blood sugar."
spideyguy: (CAT)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-14 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Peter mewled again, this time sounding a little melancholy, and immediately embraced Wade, whining and rubbing his face all over Wade's chest again. Okay, so maybe he didn't have to lie about there being nothing wrong. It wasn't like he thought Wade would make the leap at all to Vanessa - why would he? She was perfectly lovely, Peter was just...being a dumbass.

He whimpered again, rubbing his head allll over Wade's neck, masking her scent and feeling infinitesimally better about it as it slowly disappeared.
beaarthur: (Before | what?)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-14 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wade just grinned at Peter rubbing all over him, laughing a little when the cat's hair tickled his neck. "Petey! That tickles, goof. Jeez. Come here," he said as he curled his arms around Peter, giving him a warm hug. That mewl sounded so sad and it broke Wade's heart. He didn't like when his Petey Pie was sad. "Let's stop at that taco place. Does that sound good? I'll get you some tacos. Just this once. We're trying to eat better, but sometimes I fail at that and buy us tacos instead of cooking at home."

His hands rubbed up and down Peter's sides. Maybe he missed Gwen already? That would make sense. They really seemed to like each other. He would definitely have to set up that date with Vanessa then. Maybe it would be good for Peter to mate with Gwen after all and have some kittens. Maybe Petey was finally realizing he was lonely and Wade just ripped Peter apart from his one true love. Oh fuck. Now his mind was really racing.
